I felt that too. When he said he regretted going bigger and would've preferred going intimate, his script for Ghost of Sparta and GoW 4 shows that he puts his money where his mouth is. Also I realized that most of the directors weren't pleased with gow 3's ending. Sounds like such a badass ending, but it looks like they're doing a similar version now by going into Norse mythology. Even if Kratos doesn't end up being the grim reaper or whatever, Corey Barlog is directing the new one and I have nothing but high hopes for it.

Some of what he said may have had merit to explore in an alternate universe (as in our alternate universe) or in future content but when he said "blades of chaos become grim reaper scythe and Kratos becomes the reaper" I immediately checked out because that's the dumbest fucking idea I've ever heard. That said, the idea that Zeus dies in the opening of God of War 3 and a bunch of other cultural gods immediately come in? Also stupid. It'd be anticlimactic because we'd have no buildup to killing Zeus and then have no real reason to hate or feel anything to these other gods, who would barely have any characterization to them. A power vacuum and other gods attempting to exert control over the realm in a post GoW3 game could be interesting to explore, particularly Egyptian, but not the way he described it. Cory Barlog definitely had a better concept of where to take the series and boy am I grateful for that because I would have hated Jaffe's ideas as he described them. No wonder he's so upset about the series now. It shows his ideas were terrible and he has no writing capabilities at all.
2018 god of war is a goddamn masterpiece but playing through the old ones again, nothing matches the epicness of 2. 2 is still a breathtaking experience, feels like I'm playing it for the first time again after so many years of not playing it
2 is a nonstop thrill ride, it’s one incredible set piece after another as you gain new weapons, abilities and items while fighting new bosses and incredible monsters
