I've always wondered why these shows that primarily have their fan bases located in North America always seem to have their home media releases available in other countries. Would you happen to know any possible reason? The weirdest one that I was aware of was Ed Edd n eddy. The first two seasons were available here on dvd. Then the remaining seasons were only made available on DVD in thailand. Thankfully the DVDs came with English audio. I was lucky enough to buy the remaining DVD sets before they essentially became unavailable. And now they go for a pretty penny.
It's about sales...the fan base doesn't mean much if not many of them are buying the DVDs or VHS tapes. For most other countries their only access to these shows is buying the videos. People who don't have cable or satellite in those areas may at least have a DVD or VHS player since that's significantly cheaper than cable or satellite.
@@angelinacamacho8575 interesting point. But that doesn't make sense to me, personally. Back when those DVDs came out, DVDs were still a valid media option over here. I can't see how companies would make much money on a show that was nearly as popular overseas.
I'm literally shocked that ways to officially watch Cow and Chicken are scarce, as that was one of my favorite CN shows as a kid, and I'm also super bummed it's not on HBO Max! But, who knows. Maybe one of these days I'll purchase it on RUclips. I'd give anything to watch that show again aside from shady cartoon pirating websites.
I have the steven universe and Adventue time sets they released and other then the lack of subtitles they're great. Me and my girlfriend have been watching We Bare Bears and since weve been enjoying it and I heard about them loosing the rights, i jumped on a copy of the first three seasons on dvd. I wish it was bluray and a bit better quality, but I'd rather own dvds than nothing at all
Good news Dexters lab is finally getting a complete series set in region 1 in May That means we don't need to hunt down that collected experiments set anymore Then again i'm hoping ego trip is included
One Cartoon network series that is so obscure to find on DVD is Total Drama, (Theres limited listenings for any region on eBay and even on Amazon its crazy prices), Unsure who were the ones to release it but they were also the only ones sadly, and it looks like only the first season had both a Full Season DVD Set Release and a Volume Sets, (but only for Island, no other season). Would love to see S1 - 7 in a big Box Set or something tbh
I'm not sure whenever else I'd be able to mention this, but one series I am surprised doesn't have many home media releases is Gumball. From what I know, despite consistently airing on the channel even 5 years after ending (I think around 4 if you count the Election and Yearbook miniseries), only the first two seasons have gotten home media releases, and even then, at least in North America, only a few episodes from Season 2 got released.
There are some more recent North American DVD sets released by NCricle that pretty much features almost every episode except for 5 episodes. Though I decided to get the rare Australian complete series set for my collection since it actually includes everything.
@@KingLaneCreations do you have a link to either cause I don't see anything on amazon except for the compilation dvds that contain episodes from Seasons 1 and 2 and a few other dvds from other regions although those are still just Seasons 1 and 2
After doing a small bit of research I think were talking about different series I think you're talking about Gumby while I was talking about The Amazing World of Gumball That's what I'm assuming anyways cause there were apparently Gumby dvds by NCircle which included all but 5 episodes
Sorry, I saw your original comment thought you were talking about Gumby. My mistake. But yeah you are right, Gumball currently only has season 1 and a few season 2 episodes on a few Volume DVDs. I recall Madman having a complete season 1 set for Gumball, but I'm not sure if it was actually released or not.
That’s a nice collection of Cartoon Network dvds I’m also really annoyed that wb is not putting out more Cartoon Network shows on dvd Heck there’s no excuse for why dexters lab, billy and Mandy, or kids next door never got completed on dvd since those are considered classics on Cartoon Network Not only that but I’m also waiting for cow and chicken, Johnny bravo, I am weasel, Mike Lu and og, 2 stupid dogs, ppg 1998 rerelease, sheep in the big city, time squad, billy and Mandy, evil con carne, robot jones, megas xlr, camp lazlo, my gym partners a monkey, squirrel boy, chowder, flapjack, regular show (us release), robotomy, gumball, secret mountain fort awesome, uncle grandpa, Clarence, we bare bears, ok ko, victor and Valentino, apple and onion, Mao Mao, sym bionic titan, Elliot from earth, close enough, tig n seek, infinity train etc Granted there do exist some complete series sets in the us such as courage, Ed edd and eddy, fosters, adventure time, Steven universe etc but there’s also a lot more cartoons that needs to be released I could resort to bootlegging but the issue is that some bootlegs online cost a fortune and I’m the kind of guy who rather wants a bargain Plus there are bootlegg venders at conventions that only seeks complete sets of 80s toons (in 2023 when most 80s toons are already out by now) you can argue it’s because of the pop culture theme of conventions but that doesn’t make any sense since animation is a huge part of pop culture and nicktoons and cartoon cartoons are prime examples of such Bottom line it’s time for shout factory, mvd rewind, arrow, or even the criterion collection to have the Cartoon Network license (Especially since I can easily see sym bionic titan on the criterion collection)
46:54 I actually own this in real life, (The USA Release), you see, back in 2021, I placed a bid on eBay to have the complete series on DVD since I owned the movie on VHS, after about 2 auditions to bid, I didn’t win those bids, that was until I bidded for it again, and I won the item, but I noticed that the Episode Guides were not present in the release, this might be because they were either in poor condition, or the Original Owner didn’t have them
I have a question If there ever was a cartoon network equivalent of nicktoons unite wbo do you want as part of the roster Dexter and powerpuff girls are the ones that i want the most but i will also accept courage, the eds, cow.and chicken, i am weasel and i r baboon, johnny bravo, mike lu and og, robot jones, sheep, buck tuddrussel, otto larry 3000, billy and mandy As the games progress we team up with kids next door, ami and yumi, mac and bloo, juniper lee, coop and jamie, lazlo raj and clam, adam and jake, rodney and andy, samurai jack, chowder and kimchi, flapjack and k'nuckles, finn and jake, mordecai and rigby, blastus and thrasher, the disgustoids, gumball and darwin, uncle grandpa pizza steve mr gus, steven and the crystal gems, clarence jeff and sumo, grizz panda and icebear, sunny bridges, ok ko enid and radicles, mao mao badgerclops, adorabat, apple and onion, space ghost, elliot and mo, craig j.p, tiggy, josh and emily, and victor and valentino
This might be tough since I've never played NickToons unite. But Dexter and the PPG are also my most likely choices, same goes for Finn and maybe Uncle Grandpa.
1. There's nothing really wrong with compilation DVDs, in fact I think they're good in their own way. It's just that when I normally collect shows on home video, I'm always after the complete series. 2. I don't watch Sesame Street very often, but I think it's a great show.
@@KingLaneCreations hey you may want to change you profile because it looks way too similar to oswald the lucky rabbit ,so if you do not want to get sued by Disney may want to look a little different
The streaming service beginning just keeps reminding me of the fact that there are shows out there that will likely not even get that treatment, let alone any DVD releases anytime soon, either for copyright reasons, dealing with a bad person or several bad people being huge parts of those shows, the show itself is just terrible, or the company or companies involved with it have long gone defunct. Better hold some of those very rare VHS releases... if they exist.
I thought this video would be a lot better, shame it sucks
