For coupe owners: to take rear speakers out it's a little easier. 1. Remove the screw hidden above the rear hanger. 2. Remove the black plastic SRS cover by prying out on it's sides. 3. Remove the metal SRS clip directly behind the plastic cover you just removed. To do this, you have to push the metal clip together and then pull outwards. 4. Remove the entire plastic trim piece starting from the hanger all the way to the back windshield. To do this, gently pry down by the hanger and the SRS fabric cover to release the plastic clips holding it in. The entire trim piece with the fabric cover should come off all together. 5. Repeat steps 1-4 for the other side. 6. Open trunk and release rear seat latches and push them down. 7. Take the entire rear plastic cover off as is shown in this video. Only difference that I saw in my coupe besides how to take off the panels was that mine came with a subwoofer in-between the two rear speakers, but that might be because I have the ex-t model.
Oh... And before you take the rear deck panel off, make sure to disconnect the two wires for the rear tweeters. You can take them off easily from within the trunk. The tweeters will still be in the rear deck panel once you take it off.
@@vgameh8er what speakers did you get to go onto your rear deck. i have the same model and body style and everything, an EX-T Coupe. looking on crutchfield it’s telling me i’m going to have to fabricate a bracket to be able to fit the aftermarket speakers in. was wondering how you managed it.
Thanks. Great tips and you saved me a ton of time. After watching your video (multiple times) I had the rear panel out in about 15 minutes to swap out the stock speakers.
I just replaced my rear speakers on my 2020 civic. I had been waiting for months to do it and finally today I did. Easy to pull everything out, it was the putting everything back that took the longest. No problem resetting the pin for the airbag. Just used a screw driver to pry the plastic clips. I found that the pin on when side was not even all the way installed.
You didn’t unplug the Tweeters from the trunk before moving on to removing everything else. Remove the tweeters people! They will snap off when you remove the back panel if you don’t!
My 96 civic ex coupe is starting to come back to haunt me again. I had to remove the rear seats to remove the side panels. This looks a little bit easier than the 96-98 civics. Honda went back to their roots in bad ways too. Idk if I want to do this again in my si. Helpful video though. I may get the balls to do this one day
Holy crap...So, basically tear the whole back end of the car apart! Lol What ever happened to just popping the trunk and and replacing the speakers from underneath the back panel??
What size speaker fits the bracket? I have it all out but having problems finding a speaker that fits Or another way I can get a bigger speaker in there
I have changed the speakers on the back and I broke the twitters in the back. I need new ones now..... for anyone with tweeters on the back pls make sure you un attach them. I was so sad.
I said the same thing. He clearly has them is his vehicle you can see the wires when he unplugs the brake light. But he skipped the Tweeters. I guess it’s my fault for not looking more myself but dude needs to fix his video so more people don’t snap their tweeters apart. Luckily I had a soldering iron and glued the plastic back on and soldered the wires back together. Pain in the ass when I could’ve just unplugged.
Hello there. How many cm of speakers? Which of the best compenent speakers do you recommend instead? I own the 2016 model honda civic. Would you recommend the best speakers for my car?
Same size as the rear speakers and regarding the front tweeters on your door they don't sell aftermarket ones that fit perfect so you have to buy 1" or 3/4 " tweeters and custom adapt them. Hope this helps....also check www.crutchfield.com and input info of make and model of your car and it let's you know what size speakers you need for that car.
Just bought a 2018 civic coupe. I looked at the speaker wires in the front door panel's and they are the same size, blue and red. Someone mentioned that if they are the same size, it doesn't make a difference when it comes to negative/positive. Can you help and clarity if there is a negative/positive when it comes to my red/blue wires? Thanks
Did you get to remove the read deck panel? If so, please could you post a video or at least some instructions on the coupe? I have a coupe si 10th gen and I cant remove it
Thanks for the video but God damn that's a lot of shit you got to take off just to change one speaker. My center sub is blown and I need to change it and I haven't done it because it's ridiculous what you have to do to change one speaker
Whoever thought it was a good idea to make it this damn hard to access those speakers should be shot. I thought this was going to be fairly simple. I mean why in the hell could they not have mounted them from underneath? Just open the trunk, remove 4 bolts and out comes the speakers. This is just ridiculous lol. Not going to be doing this anytime soon
Wow! Suddenly my stock speakers are sounding really good!
Bro I said the same thing lmao.
😂😂😂
Lmfao
Lmao agreed
Exactly 😂😂

Is there a video on this??
this is blowing my mind that you have to do all of that to swap out the rear speakers. Unbelievable!!
Yah it’s more than normal but it’s not difficult if you want better sound in your Honda
You’re a legend for going thru all of that so confidently
Thanks. Great tips and you saved me a ton of time. After watching your video (multiple times) I had the rear panel out in about 15 minutes to swap out the stock speakers.

Wow after doing this. I should be able to work at the Honda factory no problem.
Imagine if Honda just made them accessible through the trunk..
exactly. but cars/products are getting less & less user accessible & modifiable for the sole reason of selfishness lol.
You didn’t unplug the Tweeters from the trunk before moving on to removing everything else. Remove the tweeters people! They will snap off when you remove the back panel if you don’t!
yeaaaa… little late on that lol *sigh*
Is it the same for the same year sedan?
I'll keep my stock speakers ...
yeah...its quite to process to get access to the speakers
what if the car have air bags in the back?
Matias Cabral all civics have airbag in the back... but they are on the sides not directly in the back of your car
Much better let the shop do it and pay them
@@allancarvajal1518 I have seen Best Buy want to charge 200 bucks to do it. It is not that hard to do it. I did it, took an hour of my time.

HAHA, they don't make it easy anymore.
Michael Westbrook life after 1999 lol but yes I miss those days too
Boosted Fool if you owned a 96-98 civic, it’s harder than this. I wonder why Honda made the 99-00 so easy. Si chassis revision?
There are tweeters attached to the compartment so be sure to disconnect it before pulling it out
If I completed a speaker swap, I'd have extra clips and more than one panel won't be flush after putting it together again
thank you for the only good video on this on ALL of youtube. lmao
Thank you for the video but I gotta say: Jesus Christ is this a ridiculous process for 2 damn speakers.
Hello
I just wanna ask that honda reborn 2010 model speakers can be installed? in civic x model?
Hello noises and rattles!
I have a rattle in mine on the passenger side rear corner. I think I'll let Honda fix it. It's still under warranty.
What measure are the rear speakers?
What size speaker fits the bracket? I have it all out but having problems finding a speaker that fits Or another way I can get a bigger speaker in there
John Bell 6 1/2 to 6 3/4
My reverse clip is left attached to the pillar... can I just leave it there and install pillar cover or I have to take it out ?
I have changed the speakers on the back and I broke the twitters in the back. I need new ones now..... for anyone with tweeters on the back pls make sure you un attach them. I was so sad.

Awesome video dude thanks! Dumb question, did both sides of trim need to be removed?
Yes
Hey mate, will this removable process possible if the rear seats cannot be folded?
So I was told that there are tweeters in the rear by the speakers. Is that true? I have a 2017 ext sedan
Yeah there are 4 tweeters, 2 in the rear deck.
Do I need to unhook the car battery for this?
No need to unhook the battery to do this.
@@DIYHonda what is the stock size of the sub? 8?

Hey what size do I use?
what speaker size fit the back?
Any luck???
Have you already know what size the speakers are?
6.5

polarity is always something that has to match up or they wont sound good at all, do a search online for a wiring diagram
Did you get to remove the read deck panel? If so, please could you post a video or at least some instructions on the coupe? I have a coupe si 10th gen and I cant remove it
Can you do diy for the trunk tail light on the coupe
what size are the speakers?
And...there goes my tweeters
Where do the rear tweeters go??
This model didn't come with tweeters. The ex and higher do..
To remove headliner would it require to remove the same side pieces that contain the airbag?
Yeah, that trim piece will have to come out.
DIYHonda how is the clip removed from the trim so that it can be reset
I posted a link in the video description on how to reset it.
U forgot to mention to unplug the super tweeters next to the 3rd brake light so now mine are broken

You said coupe but that looks like a sedan...
These shitty little speakers are back there? Can this somehow support some 6x9's?
