- This is a pantomime about two construction workers, who discover that a plank is missing from the floor they are just building. They discover that two children have taken the plank and use it for a seesaw. Instead of taking it back, they decide to go and buy a new one. However, this may not have been a very good idea, for all the troubles and problems they encounter, just by buying a plank, are countless.
Starring: Eric Sykes, Arthur Lowe .
Director: Eric Sykes
I don't know how many times I've seen this over my life but I love it every time. An all-star cast brilliantly done.
You prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost the account password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Graysen Allen Instablaster ;)
This is the best un-plan of action, oh&s ever made. Just unique.
Chris Watson the original WAS funny! This one is so-so!
@@jimcrawford5039 I remember, the original had, Ronnie Barker.
Just great. Love it.😄❤👍
Obviously an all star cast - I recognized Diana Dors, Brian Murphy, Bernard Cribbins;, Frankie Howerd, Wilfred Hyde-White, Henry Cooper, Joanna Lumley, Harry Corbett, Lionel Blair, James Hunt, Reg Varney, and Frank Windsor.
Derek Guyler as the milkman
You missed Jimmy Edwards, Charlie Drake and Kenny Lynch too.
The great Guyler... "you can't buy a box of chocolates for sixpence, lad!"
This show proves one you don’t have to say anything to be funny. The old saying is true. Their actions spoke louder than words.
The older British shows proved that time and time again.
Silent movie/slapstick humor you don't see in Hollywood, at least since Mel Brooks in 1976.
I SEEN THE OTHER VERSION OF THIS CLASSIC WITH Eric Sykes And Tommy Cooper same story very funny not seen this one before today with Eric Sykes, Arthur Lowe . classic show thanks for share
Every time I watched this I wish Eric Sykes & aurther low had made another funny one just by themselves and I find it so funny what happens to Charlie drake.
I watched this with muy grandad 20 years ago still funny shame that only one of
Good English Humor, I love it ! 😂😂😂
Fun they did multiply versions of same movie. Back then.
The bloody awful canned laughter I dont recall from the original
RMC 667E ....hahaha...little tribute to Version One!
i watched the plank as years ago i was recommended it and some one was right the funniest thing i ever saw also i have seen dean martin celebrity roast with jimmy stewart and lucille ball you cant beat excellant comedy
Hate canned laughter
Now this is good comedy.......
Still makes me laugh after all these years...
Arthur Lowe
I see it at first time )))))))
Better with Tommy Cooper though.
⭐👍👏
Can you imagine this film nowadays with heath and safety 💩

2:43 how it's started
lol . Nice
Proper built houses ...not like 2018 comedy classic houses
Doesn't take much to make some laugh.
Julian Adams the original one was funny. This is a remake.
This is not the original plank.
Yes it is. There is another with some of the original actors in but it was made later and people actually spoke in it. The beauty of this film as that not one word is spoken yet it is still hilariously funny!
@@stephenclayforth7649 Interesting - I didn't know there was a later "talkie" one . The estate being built is one by Davis Estates. A mate of mine worked for them as foreman, we're both (retired) tradesmen. Some of the real things that went on would make good comedy- back in the 70's . Nowadays you cant do anything untoward due to H+S . My son's a plasterer and he tells me how it is on site now. Good in some ways but the "craic" is long gone.
Geoff Cole. That would be Jeremy Corbyn!
The first plank I saw I'm sure had Charlie Drake the worker in it. Is this correct.?.
Or was it Jeremy Corbyn?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Stephen Clayforth Good Lord I find it depressing that you have heard of "The Plank" and yet your Dunning-Kruger tells you this is the original?!?!
This is a REMAKE from 1979 for ITV complete with canned laughter. Right, Geoff?
The ORIGINAL was from 1967. The story is similar and there are a few cast members in both but the original is far superior in many respects.
It was written and directed by Sykes who was even at that time hard of hearing and wanted a more visual style of comedy. His co-star was Tommy Cooper and there is a who's who of comedy and drama actors in it (wiki for the full list).
This shadow (sorry, Eric) is two thirds the length and cuts many jokes to make it fit an ITV slot.
There was never a third version. Maybe you're thinking about "Rhubarb, rhubarb"? Whatever, please keep your ill informed comments away from RUclips.
Charlie Drake was not in the original. Roy Castle took that part originally.
This is not as good as the original one.
I though the original had Charlie Drake the worker in it.
I don't know about that. Depends if one has seen the first. I saw it at the cinema as a 'b' movie. Can't remember the 'A' movie but The Plank says it all.....
Nod or 3 to Jacques Tati.....
@@geoffcole6486 Nope.
Noen som husker denne? :-D
Egil Mathisen 0?
I still think that 'the plank's is one of the best 'silents' ever made! The sheer visual genius of Sykes and Arthur Lowe doesn't need a sound track, let alone the silly OTT audience response, so favoured by Auntie at this time.😂 Guy

Am i allowed to laugh at this given Kenny Lynch is portrayed as a black binman or do I have to declare it to someone in authority that I found it funny just in case someone in race relations finds out !😂
You can laugh but it may lead to allegations of a hate crime. In which case you will be tried by a left wing judge & a jury of your peers, none of whom will be white.
Looks like I'm in the shit then !😭
British Humor. A take off of Laurel and Hardy.
Who better to imitate?
I believe one half of L&H was British
@@wangdangdoodie
Yes, you are right, Stan Laurel was born in Kendal, Cumbria, England UK., if I am not mistaken.
Sorry not as good as the frist one
Actually the secind wun is better than the frist wun.
The first one was far better than the frist one.
