I read the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, and then rewatched this. Made me cry so hard. The emotion captured was flawless, beautiful yet tragic. Now everyday I cant help but watch and listen!
Love the progression of layers and elements in this one. As the other, much-further-back-in-career western U.S. lawyer making electronic music, I've been watching/listening to a lot of your stuff, including the entirety of the 2018 livestream. It's giving me good reference points to understand what I'm capable of now and later. Thanks a bunch!
I heard this song when it was just released. Loved it back then and love it right now. The lyrics, the melody and Jody's voice are incredible and the music video is definitely the best representation of Orpheus and Eurydice's story.
I was listening to my sons playlist this week, and in the midst of some shakey graves, etc, this song pops up. It made me smile so big. When they were young I played this some all the time. They never got it out of their heads either. He said it’s still one of good all time favorite songs. He also said that because of this song and’s video, this became his favorite story, and that The emotion of the song and video still gets him. Thought I’d let you know, Justin. 💜💜💜 this song and and album got to me and’s my boys as we were all going through some extremely difficult times.
This is quite possibly one of the most artistically beautiful and soul stirring videos I've ever seen. I wasn't aware of the story of Eurydice when I first watched the video. After I read up on it and watched the video (and really listened to the lyrics of the song) again, it held so much more meaning for me. The scenes alternating between joy and pain (2:27-3:12) are just hauntingly beautiful.
Beau travail !
Don't look back my beloved for my heart will no longer beat in unison with yours but his love for her is so great he cannot help himself and all that was found is forever lost to Haides......... I love this song forever it moves me.....
The earth gives, the earth will take away, and claim what is hers. Once again we all return to the earth, and no matter what-true love will always find a way....even if it is in death. I have, and always will love this video...My favorite still! :) Much love to you J....Jen :)
Still one of my personal all-time song favorites, and love the tale the video shares. Can't get enough, always seem to come back for more. Thank you Justin and Jody for the music, and to the director who did an amazing job capturing it visually!
Gorgeous and tragic love story, brought to life through equally gorgeous lyrics and video. I don't think Orpheus and Eurydice have ever made me cry so much as this video did. Beautiful. Keep up the fantastic work; I'll continue to buy and promote Sleepthief, as the music has helped inspire a lot of my writings and drawings so much. Thank you!
I listen to this song at least once a day, and it's always stuck in my head! ;) It is such a beautiful song. You are a very talented artist, Justin! Everyone should know about your music!
i want to thank you as well; for posting this, that is. it's still my favorite music video, period, and probably will always be my favorite. even to see it just a little larger is fantastic. i really must give my regards to the cinematographer(s).
god damn this is beautiful, so glad I found this and Favorited because until now I actually took the time to listen to all of it and watched the whole video. Simply great.
I am new to Sleeptheif and thank pandora for putting these beautiful songs on my Within Temptation station. The first song I heard I fell in love and can't wait to purchase songs. Totally inspired and I just love the sounds. I sure hope my music sounds this beautiful one day. I really love You Did a Good Thing. Pandora has introduced so many great artists to me that I had to go buy the songs in order to hear them again. Love!
@Littlest Aswell. Same here. A cousin of mine’s friend introduced me to WT because of liking Nightwish. Now, I only found out about them from a Celtic cd I got from the library. One of their songs was a song I liked a lot & I started listening to other songs from them. The cousin’s friend let me borrow his cd of WT because he figured I’d like it & was hooked ever since. & from them, I found out about this song lol 😆 but sadly, this is the only song of theirs that I like. I’ve listened to others but none of them really touched me like this one did.
I absolutely love this song and video! The video is just so visually appealing. Definitely a lot more creative than some music videos out there. I really look forward to the new album! :D
Keep up the great work, Justin! My first known as realized something in my brains.... Because, it had make such noise from my own brains... Never stop for whole month.... mentally shocked more than anything.... Meantime I hear their voices from my head.... it was military.... commands.... Such loud beeping and static noises that I just can’t take mentally.... I was broken psychologically.... And never stop for at least whole month..... I had to keep playing this music.... My fear was such great and not knowing what it is from my own brain.... 요한 voices in my head.... Gina husband....currently my both front of bra lines are such itchy....
Anyone here listening in 2024 ??? Awesome song
Jody Quine has the voice of an angel. Too good for mainstream radio.
I read the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, and then rewatched this. Made me cry so hard. The emotion captured was flawless, beautiful yet tragic. Now everyday I cant help but watch and listen!

I heard this song when it was just released. Loved it back then and love it right now. The lyrics, the melody and Jody's voice are incredible and the music video is definitely the best representation of Orpheus and Eurydice's story.
Love this as much in 2021 as I did in 2009! Not only is the music beautiful, but the video tells the story so simply and beautifully. A work of art!

LittlestAswell I made a symphonic metal station with bands that WT and Nightwish. And that's also how I found Sleeptheif!
You should check out the Spythriller version of Nemo. It's different of course, but a very well done cover.

@PerrinAybara
ah ok. So then that's were they went, to Hades. thank you.
@Indieattik :)
A beautiful portrayal of a tragic tale. If he had controlled his compulsion he wouldn't have lost her.
"You had *one* job!" 😉
Hades knew Orpheus couldn't do it. That's the point. It's the in-escapability of Death played out in slow motion.
G'day from 2023
