Thank you for posting this and I'd like to say that one of my cousins had a similar version of this back in the early 1980's. Every time my parents took me to visit them, I couldn't wait to start playing with it and the voice I particularly liked occurs at the 1:10 mark.
This brought back some memories. I used to have one of those when I was a little kid. Thanks for posting this. Donald says, "This is Donald Duck." You don't actually have to dial the full number, though that does make the experience more fun sometimes. I usually just pressed the buttons randomly. Some didn't do anything, which I later found out that's so it feels like you're dialing a whole number, and some play character audios, like you can just press 0 for Mickey Mouse, 4 for Snow White, 9 for Donald Duck, etc., but I don't know how 0 played Snow White's audio for some reason. I guess that was a quirk it had sometimes, but I don't remember that happening to mine. This would have been more fun if you'd called all the characters. Thanks for sharing.
I had one of these when I was little, but I seem to recall mine only required you to push one button which corresponded to one of the characters. But those are the same old quotes that I remember. Donald, in case you're wondering, simply says this is Donald Duck. I also remember the speed control on mine simply being a little knob you would turn.
I always get a little stoked when I see a toy that came out the year I was born. I remember my grandmother having this phone at her house and she'd sometimes get it out when my cousins and I were visiting. It is kind of too bad you can't call Daffy Duck, though. I think there might been a Looney Tunes version, or maybe it was a See 'n Say.
I had one of those as a child, but in a modern version. It was white and had blinking buttons. I'm searching for it like crazy. If someone knows what the device is called, it would be really great to get an answer. It must have been from the early 2000s.
