Thank you so much. This is my first video on this channel. So hearing you say this means a lot to a brand new channel like mine. Much appreciated. I'll have a video out on the 1934 World Cup within a couple of weeks.
Thank you. I really appreciate that as a brand new channel. I've got a video on the 1934 World Cup due in the next couple of weeks so I should have more content soon.
It was actually 4 in a row given they didn't play in 34 or 38. Going into the 1954 WC, Uruguay had never not won a WC. And it took the Magical Magyars to beat them.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I used to go through all of the games in the earlier tournaments because there was very little information and highlights about it. So it was difficult to talk about in detail. Plus, the tournaments were shorter. Over time, there was far more information and footage of the more recent tournaments, so I could then focus on the major teams and matches.
Montevideo: Taste of a Dream and See You in Montevideo Two Serbian films that talk about Yugoslavia's participation in this world cup. Who wants to see.
There were no subs back then. But you could get sent off. There were no physical yellow or red cards, though. The ref would just point to the tunnel to indicate a player was being sent off.
@@TheSportsFiles-mm1kg Whats messed is they are so close to Italy too. Its one thing if you're on the other side of the world but jfc they are right there.
Wrong : Egypt didn't tried to participate to the tournament in 1930. According to the FIFA official website, the egyptian team didn't answered to the invitation. They participated to the 1934 tournament, eliminating Palestina in the elimination round but lost against Hungary in Italy.
It's not wrong. There are countless sources online that describe this incident. It's why there were only 13 teams at the tournament when 14 was intended. Egypt unexpectedly missed the World Cup due to storms delaying their boat in the Mediterranean Sea. They were looking to board another ship in Marseille to take them to South America.
Numerous including newspaper articles like the guardian, etc. Google Egypt 1930 missed the World Cup and see for yourself. Egypt originally rejected the World Cup but accepted it later on. Also, one thing I've learnt from researching all these world cups is that the official fifa site really isn't the best to get the full picture. They often ignore controversial moments. I'm not even talking about this Egypt boat incident, but lots of things throughout these world cups.

So even the first World Cup was rigged for Argentina just like in the last ever world Cup? Interesting. Argentina was the team awarded so many penalties in both tournaments. They had a controversial moment against France in both world cups. Also interesting how they were the first ones to qualify for the first and last ever World Cup final

The best result up to this day 😃 It's a shame they had no structured football system in the States to build up on such a success. Anything they reached in this tournament was completely lost after it, and they had no footballing relevance again until like 60-70 years later.
England fans actually always used the British flag quite frequently. Look at videos of the 1982 World Cup. I think they used more British flags than English flags at that time. That started to change a little in later years.

Uruguay winning 3 tournaments in a row should be talked about more.
Yeah, that's a great point. I think it's not talked about as much because the Olympics hasn't always been considered a major competition.

Interesting how France was the first to ever score at a World Cup and was also the last to ever score at a World Cup
Yeah, that is an interesting coincidence, actually.

So Egypt missed the first World Cup because they did not get on a boat in time?!
Unfortunately, so. There was bad weather in the Mediterranean, so they couldn't get on their boat in time. So they missed the world cup 😅
