Hi thanks for all your videos. I live in Wolverhampton and travel to IOM as much as I can. Your videos have saved me numerous trips to see how the new terminal is coming on.
There called Mooring Dolphins. I will be the rope handler on that exact dolphin when it opens. Been on site today to see it. Hoping to be fully operating by end of April.
Hi Mr Drone, Another great video of the I-O-M berth in Liverpool, Wow the tide was out quite a lot, I wonder how much clearence from the bottom of Ferry to the river bed. I'm guessing not a lot. After a spring high tide, low water is very low, resulting in certain Mersey Ferries sailings not being able to berth at the Liverpool Landing stage. I wonder if we will have similar issues from time to time at this berth. Can't wait to see the Test moorings, which I am sure they will do with their ferries before excepting passengers. Back in the 1980's the Liverpool-Douglas service ceased when the I-O-M Feries announced their last ever sailing from Liverpool. We were all on the Stage to see the last ever sailing leave Liverpool. Everybody was so upset. People were crying. The Ferry cast off into mid river, then turned left towards Birkenhead and then swung around and did a sail past, blowing it's whistle saluting Liverpool. WE all just watched the ferry sail off into the distance.
Manxman requires 2 metres of water below the hull. The berth has been sufficiently dredged to achieve this. It will also continue to be dredged on a regular basis.
Eagerly awaiting any updates! As a wheelchair user these videos are super super helpful although I'm dying to see foot passenger boarding in action. Surprised with the lack of press/council updates on the terminal as well, I've seen absolutely nothing on the steam packet website about it but like you, I'd love to be on the maiden voyage to the island
They're 'fenders' Nick, to protect the ships hull when she moors against them, traditionally old rubber tyres were used as fenders but these are probably a soft but durable synthetic material.
Great video Nick. I’ve followed your work with great interest. Great stuff. I would like to ask what is the name of the music you used for this video ? It’s beautiful and very apt. Is it just a generic and copyright proof piece? Or is it from your own collection ? Cheers. Mike.

I will be on security. Mooring was the only job I liked and they took that away from security.
Fenders attached to mooring dolphins. Thanks for all the great vids.

Excellent video as usual thanks. The berthing things are called dolphins mate.
I think a "berthing platform" is something you'd find in a maternity hospital. Great pics though Nick, keep up the good work.
