- Soma is one of the most unique and fleshed out bosses in the franchise, and i love it. Second of the big three bosses i'm covering, He's much more precise and defensive than say, Kuwana or Akatsu and it makes him really fun to fight and more importantly, learn how to fight. His theme is awesome and his moveset is so vast. They really thought of everything for this guy, great villain.

Credit to Ruba for compiling all of the Soma scenes i used in the intro
When I first saw Shadow Walk, I really thought that was a bug in the game, lol.
I just finished the game, I thought it was but too lmao
A.K.A "Nothing Personal Kid" move
There's a theory that he uses the smooth surface to slip behind
@@irsyadiaryadiva9430 he took one of the warehouse scooter boards into the freezer with him and he just slides around on it
@@b.blobbentein5774 Genius!
He moves like one of those horrific killer dolls, especially when he's walking with his stance, quite creepy. And his shadow walk doesn't help to keep that supernatural evil psychotic aura. Add this to the eerie haunted Christmas-like slash serial killer flick inspired track that Viper is and you got the whole slasher ambience there.
May he rot in a dust filled cell.
I truly appreciated the guy's whole motif about Vipers and how he's both practically an echo of Snake Style with his devastating grabs and parries, and how the most reliable way to defeat his is with Snake Style. Almost all of his tricks rely in you making the first move or overextending. When you force him to engage first and counter his whole bag of tricks falls apart. Wonderful stuff.
It reminds me a lot of a rattlesnake reading this comment
0:43 did soma sneeze lmao
Wouldn't surprise me, the bar was dusty
yep part of his character quirk is that he's pollen sensitive
@@Marshal_Lepus i knew he got his dust allergy but i didn't knew there's a dedicated animation for it 😭
It's odd he pushes you away during his shadow walk grab. Would've been cool to give him a secret ex action for failing to mash.
You mean heat action because he is Yakuza (real)
i thought the shadow walk move was the creepiest shit especially coming from soma like its just so uncanny but also really sick
Lol. Gotta love how these vids turn our protag into Crash Test Yagami™
Also, my personal nickname for Soma is Stabby.
1 year late but I nicknamed Soma "Sniffles"
If you can get Soma and Kuwana to go into a run or walk stance during combat you'll see that they reuse Kuroiwa's run/walk animation.
is mole man's running animation unique
Yes it is actually
@@InfernusXS wow i thought he just used yagami's
@@dalelumina3 yep get Kuroiwa to chase you around and you’ll see he has a unique walk and run animation unlike everyone else
No doubt its one of my favorite bosses in many games. He is not as crazy as the final boss in previous judgment game, not a big brute like in many yakuza games game. He is a boss who handle things ice cold and thinks "Having to kill you is just pure business. Nothing more, nothing less."
Teleports behind you
Nothing personnel kid
Everything about this man is just so awesome. His theme, his fighting style, his fashion sense, overall everything (except the murdering)
I thought of names for the mortal attacks long ago, so here's my take.
Mortal Attack 1: Axe & Slash
Mortal 2: Assassination
Mortal 3: Fatal Stabs
I can relate to soma.
I’m also allergic to dust
They really gave Soma an Akuma teleport
Great showcase!
I didn't like Soma at first since to me he was just a discount Mole, but he's grown on me a lot. the Mole would still be my favorite of the two since he's just one man who deceived the law, but Soma in a sense _is_ the law, and he's grown on me after that realization.
Hope he's no longer discount to you. Because he really isn't.
The screeches in the music remind me of the shower scene from Psycho. Very fitting.
I love how in depth you went with this video. Any chance you can make this a series for the Yakuza series in general?
Also one thing to note about the Shadow Walk is while there in no way you can technically fail it, it drains your health the longer it goes on (and if you watch your health bar it goes down FAST)
The spy from TF2 if he came from Japan instead of France
Does Soma smoke excessively and own a $5000 suit by chance?
@@baymexx6591 Suit? Probably
Smoking? Soma is allergic to dust, smoking would kill him
0:35 Soma basic combo is similar to Essence of Sudden Knife from Yakuza 0 by Majima. Only difference is a kick: Majima finish attack with middle kick, Soma-with reversed kick.
Do you mean the knife draw hact? That’s from Y5 shinada and the order of moves is different
Lmao it's from Shinada not Majima, people usually forget how much Yakuza 0 reused from other games
@@minhgunkiss9640 Most people don't know because Yakuza 0 is their first game and they associate everything with Majima
no, that's Shinada's heat action, taken from Yakuza 5 and reused in 0
the command grab is like the demonfire counter and the shadow walk is similar to majimas shadow slip
3:12
Soma just did a DIO
Next do Kisuke Watanabe moveset.
Tatsu before meeting Miku
Then Torajiro was a detective
❤❤❤❤
Would you be able to do one for Kurosawa? Just curious because he seems just as strong as Kuwana.
....kurosawa who? u mean kuroiwa?
Why him? He was just an old man that shot others, you don’t even fight the guy so there’s nothing to showcase.
I think it's Kuroiwa, you didn't fight Kurosawa at all.
Wish Kurosawa was an a actual boss.
@@MasatakaEbina What's interesting is that in the Yakuza Wiki, Kurosawa was an formidable fighter before falling ill. Daigo noted that if it was the old Kurosawa at the roof with Kiryu, Saejima, Watase and Katsuya, instead of the one presented in Y5 (sick), he would have had no need of a gun and could have killed them with his bare hands. Kurosawa must have been a beast. You can check it in the Wiki
