This guy was just hiding out while the Dodgers won the World Series. He talked so much smack the last couple years and now he has to come out and eat 💩 🫵🏻🤣🤣🤣
I left a not so good comment on the last show. I am sorry , i take it back and deleted. So sorry to hear you were sick. I hope you are feeling much better. No need to apologize.
The Dodgers/Padres rivalry is great. It’s great to go at each other. But remember, baseball isn’t as popular as it seems to those of us who love it believe it is. If you meet someone in the real world who knows Tyler Wade and Andy Pages…that person is more your friend than your enemy because most people don’t. From a Dodgers fan’s perspective, I can tell you that a lot of the animosity towards SD fans is from the 2020 WS. The Padres traded a bunch of young controllable players to win that WS, then their fans celebrated in the streets when they won the WC round, then they were crushed when we beat them (the post game RUclips shows live forever). Then, they spent the next four years saying it didn’t matter. When we all know it would have if the Padres would have won. It’s just lame and disingenuous, but I guess that’s fandom.
I guess it depends what you consider popular. I looked up several different websites estimates on the popularity of each American sport. Baseball was listed 3rd most popular on all but one site that listed them 2nd. 2 of those sites listed what percentage of Americans watch Baseball. They both showed just over half of Americans watch baseball. To me that seems quite popular. For reference Football was listed at 75% & Basketball 57%.
The 100+ win Dodgers teams never had anything more than a 20% chance of winning the WS heading into the players, per Fangraphs. This year it was 12% for LA. That’s how random MLB playoffs are. Imagine an NFL team or NBA team that dominated the regular season and had a 12% chance of winning the title, would never happen. Would you consider a player that made 15% of their free throws to be a choker if they missed a free throw with the game on the line? It’s actually expected when the probability is that low. But for some reason when it comes to the MLB playoffs, we ignore the math and common sense and just attach ourselves to the narrative that fits our bias.
I like the way you create your own narrative to these comments/questions. You know damn well that the critiques about Tatis/Profar/Machado were not about the way they celebrate. The comments were in regards to their actions towards the opposing fans and you want to talk about critical thinking lol. The tongue wag. The chest pump and kiss blowing. The Profar ball handing off to the fan. Tatis air humping. Do you not see how easy it is for them to be seen as villains? When you go against fans, the people are gonna side with the fans most times. You’re not that blinded by fandom, are you? And yes, the dodger fans throwing shit is trashy but to deny the players had a role is absurd. Again, it should never amount to fans throwing shit. Roberts did use the Machado ball toss as fuel. Isn’t that just smart? He didn’t break any rule. He didn’t insult anyone specific. He turned it to his teams advantage. Mookie had his hands physically grabbed by Yankee fans, go back and look at how he handled the situation. He said some words in that moment and then dropped the whole thing. THAT is what we are saying is the difference between a Tatis and a Mookie. Could you imagine any of the dodger stars sitting there wagging their tongue out afterwards? Humping the air towards the fans? No, and that is the difference between your star players and the dodger star players and that comes from how the organization is ran. A pro club vs a circus act. It is a rivalry now and I can’t wait for next season when we can all talk shit and have fun again. Cheers. PS, it’s just fandom. I enjoy your podcasting style and energy. It’s just too bad you’re a Padres fan (and secretly still a Yankee fan)
Oh nice. My comment got read lol. Thanks
