      One story:
      I think we were sixteen at the time.
      Setting: Coronado High School. Lunch break. Cruising down Mesa Street.
      We were in a white Chevy Nova Station Wagon. Manual Transmission, Somewhere in the sixties model. (Details evade me on the year*)
      Laura had a crush on a guy, who had a crush on someone else, and thought Laura was a bit squirrelly for him…..(I thought to myself, “What is wrong with that boy?!” She was soo cute, well dressed, very distinct in her demeanor, and a *tons of fun personality*, always lighting up her field of gravity.)
      Her crush, was in a Ford F150. New Model.
      We challenged him to race down Mesa Street from Coronado High School all the way to the upper valley close to the Country Club Rd intersection. Guess who Won? 🥇 We did of course … What a thrill coz they really thought they had it in the bag.
      Then we, ditched fifth period and just cruised around some residential streets, and lo and behold, there was the principal, Mr Murphy, (If I remember his name, rightly) in a little Chevy Vega. Some kind of shade of avocado 🥑 green. 🥴
      We decided to try and lose him … he kept up pretty good, except when it came to stop signs, he stopped. We didn’t.
      We eventually lost him. He KNEW who we were, but nothing ever came of it. Jajajaja… with Laura in your car, you felt like you were on an adventure, she had such an innocence about it all.

      Go look on her obituary, on El Paso times. There is a long tribute to the early memory of her in high school, by someone other than me. It is a story that is very similar to mine. For some odd reason, unbeknownst to me, my story has been deleted twice on this video. Respect to all for whatever reason. …Her story represents a spirit of adventure, fun and wit. Laura was adored by many.
      She was a part of my personal history, and as such, the story I wrote, is a cherished memory of her, and there were many.
      And as they say, “Since teenagers are too old to do what children do, and too young to do what adults do, they do things no one else does.”
      She was an innocent spirit with the heart of angel.✨

      I'm glad you liked it. In hind sight, I wish we could have spent more time with them for this profile piece. The pressure to turn broadcast segments quickly is always present, even on an undated magazine show like this one. The piece is one of my favorites, lots of things just clicked. I'm still kicking myself for not getting an ext. shot of the famous "pink RV" going down the road. - PM

    I was raised on those early albums when Laura was the main singer for the Dixie Chicks, before Natalie joined and the band went mainstream. Happy childhood memories of road trips with them playing on the van’s music player, first the cassette tape and later the CD.

    The Dixie Chicks with Laura Lynch was a great band. Vocals, songs and musicianship was outstanding. When first Robin Lynn Macy and later Laura quit the band the writing was on the wall. Their original country sound was gone and replaced with commercial water downed record company shite. With Maines they made a bunch of money for Sony but it was crap stuff. Sail on Ms Lynch, miss u.

    You did a nice job capturing the early Dixie Chicks... the video is a real time capsule and the only video I've seen on line featuring the 3 ladies. Was there any footage removed as part of the editing process?

    • @peadmac9255
      @peadmac9255  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks, it was a fun story to film. Of course there was always footage removed or left "on the editing room floor." However the budget for local TV shows like PTT did not allow for field source tapes to be used once and then archived. Unless a producer squirreled a tape away for possible use later, tapes were only kept long enough to complete the edit and then reused.

      @@peadmac9255 Ah... didn't know that. That is a shame since there may have been some material cut to meet the required play time. Do you think it would be worth reaching out to the producer or, since it was such a long time ago, the probability is zero at this point?

    • @peadmac9255
      @peadmac9255  2 месяца назад +1

      @@mjolnir9030 Less than zero. The format we shot on back then was analog SD on Betacam SP tape. Thirty years later, that is at least four formats ago.
