- County lines is a form of human trafficking which is prevalent in so many countries, especially cities in the UK. Young people are the most at risk of being exploited by drug gangs, with children as young as six years old transporting illegal substances.
It's a Penalty's Student Ambassadors Network programme provides free courses to University students to understand the harms and signs of human trafficking. As part of the course, we created this film on county lines in the UK - a crime often overlooked and misunderstood by even the survivors.

I think peer pressure plays a major role in the recruitment of younger people into violent crime. Children possess little self esteem and are extremely vulnerable. Where I realise that their pimps tend to be the older role models who commit the more serious crimes and direct and coach the young. Television and social media glamourises violence and rape which the young become are very susceptible especially it involves drugs and alcohol. This sub culture is ingrained by older men and women who often are relatives. The crime obsession is more organised than ever and now mobile phones are being used to record the sexual assault of the elderly and disabled because like the children can be very vulnerable. Solution to this phenomena has to be through the successful convictions of the older generation of relatives who are orchestrating the culture. I believe that more women are involved in sexual crimes now because they tend to have easier access to vulnerable persons. As for the young I really unsure for their corruption must be traumatic and therefore counselling must be one option but in the long term the banning of mobile phones and television must be considered to combat abuse. Another combat would be the legalisation of drugs to reduce crime and violence together with therapy and education must play a role in rehabilitation of young people. Prisons have become factories for grooming crimes of violence. Car culture is degenerate together with the addiction to technology and obsession with the pursuit of gratification in the short term. Parents also need support in managing home life as selfishness is exhabating the break up of marriages. Cooperation is vital between are parties as the young will inherit the results.
Just focus on getting out and don't ever go back. Report everything to ur key worker and stay in. No shame in that.
