- Lio (born Vanda Maria Ribeiro Furtado Tavares de Vasconcelos, 17 June 1962) is a Luso-Belgian singer and actress who was a pop icon in France and Belgium during the 1980s.
In 1979, together with songwriter Jay Alanski, she and Duvall began working with Marc Moulin and Dan Lacksman from the electro-trio Telex. "Le Banana Split", which sold over 1 million copies, and "Amoureux solitaires", a song originally by punk rock band Stinky Toys. Both songs rose to the top of many pop charts in France, and Moulin and Lacksman also produced her self-titled first album.

Just can't stop to love and dance to that song. Lio is spectacular in her nightgown and dreamy face. Love her since the 80's.
The perfect singer for the perfect pop song. The melancholy of the lyrics, the upbeat melody, the pretty voice, the language, and all of that illustrated the beauty of Lio who is looking both innocent and looking as if she's absolutely knowing she's not.
Ce que je trouve intéressant, c'est que les femmes étaient vraiment de ce type en tant qu'étudiantes - j'avais une amie très !!! similaire quelques années plus tard et j'ai ensuite déménagé en France. Je ne l'oublierai jamais. Nous sommes restés ensemble pendant 5 ans. C'était très excitant. Une énorme ressemblance. Ce qui me reste, ce sont des connaissances en français presque parfaites que j'ai ensuite développées tout au long de ma carrière en France, des décennies plus tard. Merci Fabienne ;-)

Not at all. The raison is simple. The chemical composition of my brain is totally different than what it was 39 years ago.
Same for me, only I feel almost embarrased that I liked this as a teenager. It is the dumbest display ever. She can't sing, she can't dance, and she is only there to show herself in her underpants. I suppose the string wasn't invented yet at that time. Disgraceful!

Lio . Pseudonimo di Vanda Maria Ribeiro Tavares de Vasconcelos nata a Mangualde ( Portogallo ) il 17 Giugno del 1962 . E una cantante e attrice Portoghese naturalizzata Belga , ebbe grande notorietà a livello internazionale nel 1980 con il brano " Amoreux solitaries " con questo balletto non ancora diciottenne . Il suo nome d'arte deriva da un personaggio secondario del fumetto " Barbarella " molto popolare in Francia negli anni 60 e 70 .
This is the song that turned me onto her music. It was hard to come by in the USA but since then I ordered her albums as imports and have had hours of enjoyment.

I was sent to a Greek-French college (run by nuns!) at an early age and this song (heard from a classmate of mine) was one of the first things I managed to understand! I was singing it myself quite frequently (perfect lyrics for an oppressed teenager!), but since there was no RUclips or tv music shows at that time, it is only now, several decades later that the singer has a name and a face! And the lyrics remain relatable (unfortunately).
My father used to play this song in the car while we were on vacation. Listening to it now years later makes me go back there

Avec Lio, nous avons un an d'écart, j'adore le rytme musical de ce tube et aussi aussi le charme de Lio et sa sensualité à cette période, je demeurais juste à côté de chez elle dans le 17 ème arrondissement de Paris, nous nous sommes rencontrés une fois elle m'avais laissé son numéro de téléphone, mais je n'ai jamais réussi à la contacter par la suite, snif
