For many many years she has been one of my favorites! For years I have loved them and it didn’t seem to matter what I did she grew and got bushy, because I pinched off stems all the time. This particular strain taught me how to care for house plants. I always had stems growing in bottles and jars. And then for years didn’t have any indoor plants. When i was able to get back to it again i was gifted a long leggy one, that I propagated over and over. And after some years it was as if no matter what I did I couldn’t get it to get roots or grow beautifully. Now I have not been able to find that particular stain , but I found another that’s very beautiful! And has all the same characteristics, but the one you have is my favorite and I can’t find her anywhere. Well actually I’m disabled, so I cannot go all over just looking. I saw a beauty on Amazon, maybe I’ll try that. I’m in Northern California, Sonoma County. Your Creeping Swedish Charlie Ivy is GORGEOUS. I’m watching you to see what I am doing wrong, because I have a couple of growing stems and do not want them to die. I want to get it to look like yours.
I was told if the Swedish Ivy makes your hands orange it is very healthy! Yours is thriving!
Wow! Really!? I have never heard that.
Cool! ❤
When my Grandmother had to go into a home, I took quite a few of her vast collection of houseplants. She had an enormous Swedish Ivy - full and very long. I had overnight in a van and it was too cold, so it immediately lost a lot of of its growth. I kept over the years, overwatered, and am left with just a very small piece of it. It means the world to me and I hope I can keep her going! I recently found a purple one in a shop and bought a small cutting, fingers crossed.
Snow and mountains are so beautiful - I live in Colorado - but I am sooo ready for spring and some heat!
Oh my gosh. Me too! We have had so much snow this year. This week it is supposed to be close to 70 one day. 👍🏼
I hope your Swedish ivy does well too. So much more attachment I’m sure since it was your precious grandmothers. ❤
Love the Creeping Charlie as well as the macrame hanger. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Linda ❤
This plant was all the rage in the 60’s and 70’s!
It’s a good un
You’re right. I got my big interest in 1972, I live in SF then in the fog and cold
I have this plant and I love it because my grandma used to have it when I was a little girl.
My oldest son have one hanging on his room and we love it.❤😃
I love this entire video. A question: do you think Swedish Ivy would grow okay in a self-watering planter that has a wick that drops down into the water basin below?
Hi Stef. I feel your pain but it was a wise decision to trim back the first plant. When I started my plant journey I had a beautiful, full creeping charlie. I loved it but eventually, due to my neglect and not knowing what I was doing, it died. I may have to try again with one. I've always admired yours. Thanks for the beautiful snowy travel tour. Can't believe you still have that much snow! Wow! Here on the coast, we have snow on the foot fills still. Crazy! The Eryingum plant looks fascinating. I'm looking forward to seeing it in your garden this summer! Be well my friend and I hope you'll be snow free soon! 💚🌱
The snow is crazy! We have gotten more snow this year than we have ever gotten. At least since they started keeping measurements. The sun is out today though and I am very grateful. Love ya lady ❤
Hi Stef! Have you ever seen the products made by Sophisticated Finishes? They make a two step product that can turn your metal patina (blue or green) or rust. I’ve only done the one that makes rust and it’s really cool. First you paint on a paint that has metal in the paint. It’s just a slightly thick grey paint. Then the second step is to brush on the liquid solution and wait for it to turn to rust! Real rust in minutes! I’ve never done the patina colors, just the rust. I like it a lot.
Although you mentioned painting it the turquoise color which sounds nice too. Looking forward to receiving my plant order. 😃💚👍
Hi Mari! I will have to check that out. Thanks!
Thanks for the order ❤
HELP! I have a Swedish Ivy (aka dollar plant, whorled Plectranthus, creeping Charlie, Swedish Begonia.. that is losing its leaves! Many have turned brown before falling, but there's also many green. Doesn't get direct sun, but it is summer so perhaps it's too hot?
Why is it shedding it's leaves? How can I tell if it's been over-watered or it needs more water?
If it is the same plant as this, then my guess would be too much water. When it is lack of water then the plant drops before losing any leaves or having them turn brown.
Hello.....hahaha skullet I love it!!! 💚💚💚
😂
Is this the same as Creeping Charlie ?
The same?
I used to be able to know how to grow it, but feel like I've lost my touch towards it.
Swedish ivy?🌷💚🙃
You should of taken better care of it. Pruning more often
Bad decision u had to repot her in a DEEPER POT and cover all that bare top with soil..smh ..wish I could have told ya before u did the chop chop...
No worries! I just checked it today and it’s growing a bunch of new stuff 🙂
Mistitled
The creeping Charlie is one of my favorite. This plant is so easy to propagate and share. 🫱🪴🫲 I never had the chance to see mine bloom. Maybe one day. 🙃
It is such a pretty one. I love it too ❤
