Requires maintaining two timings . . .the steady drum rhythm & the singing rhythm. Yes, it's difficult, but the Cowsills were blessed with talent. Excellent rendition of that song.
It is so awesome to see John Cowsill rockin' the drums - somebody on this page said that he has a birthday on March 2nd. The Cowsills' 1967 appearances on Ed Sullivan are still floating around on RUclips - incredible talents and trailblazers....I am a Gen Xer, too!
I'm wondering if it was mutual. Mike Love was such a grumpy old man at the concert, making political comments and tired, sexist jokes. I can't imagine JC enjoyed hearing that every night.
@@ThruAWiderLens according to John himself, he was fired. He did a zoom call in January or February 2023 where he was talking with the other remaining Cowsills, and he was talking about how excited he was to go to play at the Hollywood Bowl that July, which sadly he didn't get to.
Saw them in August, 2023 and Mike Love was great and entertaining throughout the entire concert. If you weren't there, don't judge just because you already don't like him.

He actually sounds better than Carl. If they didn't change the key of that song, then Johns voice is actually better suited, and his range falls more comfortably in that song. Carl always sounded like he was singing on the edge of his range

I was blessed with the opportunity to see John drum and sing with the Beach Boys last summer. He was wonderful along with the rest of the band.
