Dracula 2000 with Gerard Butler was a change to How and why Dracula was the way he was. I can highly recommend it. Yes it is cheesy and screams the new millennium, but the twist was interesting.
I got into horror at a very early age because of my Mam. She would watch them with me next to her. The Christopher Lee Dracula films are some of the earliest horrors I rememeber watching with her.
Thanks for such an excellent analysis and review of the Dracula character and movies. It's refreshing to see a talk given in such a clear and articulate way. My favourites were always the Hammer movies - they captured the gothic atmosphere so well, and Christopher Lee was so good.
I appreciate your planning ahead of time to post this right after the Dracula prompt on the watchlist. I also appreciate your dedication and hard work putting all of this together. Incredible video Sarah! 🧛♀️🥀🖤
First of all your outfit for this video is spot on for the theme. Also very informative. Was a brilliant video for someone wanting to know a little more about the character.
Dracula Untold became one of my favorite tellings of Dracula, turning him from a tragic Villain, to a tragic hero. I would have liked to have seen where they would have gone with that character and that universe.
Yeah it's a matter of culture after all, in modern Romania/Transylvania Vlad the impaler is still remembered as something of a national hero who while brutal devoted his life to defending his home country and Christianity from the invading Ottoman Turks who sought to conquer.
Count Dracula was never a "tragic villain." Just straight-up, complete, irredeemable evil. Vlad the Impaler, on the other hand, was very much a tragic anti-hero.
Love the video, Sarah! I'm new to the Universal Monster universe and I'm looking forward to future videos. My first exposure to Dracula was the Gary Oldman - Coppola version so I'm kind of parsial to that adaptation, but I'm trying to catch up to the older adaptations as well (as soon as I can find where to watch these adaptations). The BBC version looks so good too, I'm curious if the general fans like it.
Great looking Thumbnail there Sarah, this going 2 be brilliant can't beat a bit of Dracula!!!old hammer ones are my favourite got 2 be honest, Oo looking good in that black dress,
Let's never forget the most important portrayal... Gerard Butler's Nu Metal Dracula in Dracula 2000. He changes from man to wolf to bat in under a minute, that's some real Castlevania pro vampire shit. (I adore the Coppola movie the most.)
A Long Time Coming!! ... and Worth it! Thank you for all the time and work you invested into this. Appreciate All that do and know that IT IS greatly loved and appreciated by your fans out there. The Vampire and also Supernatural happen to be my top-favorite horror types. So Enjoyable and Very Impressed! You are the first Horror channel on RUclips I go to when looking for new and interesting content! ... the Outfit was perfect for this episode btw and the choker was the *chef's kiss* Much Love and Many Thanks 🥰😁
I was born in Romania, but raised in the USA. I always have found it cringe that people believe Bran Castle is "Dracula's Castle. The real Castle Dracul is nearly gone. There's just a few ruins that you have to hike up to. It's pretty unremarkable as a photo op.
I assume that’s precisely *why* Bran Castle has been marketed as ”Dracula’s Castle”, even if that’s less historically accurate. It’s a better tourist attraction.
The reason that people believe that is because Bram Stoker based his castle on verbal descriptions of Bran Castle. Bran Castle was the inspiration for Dracula’s castle in the book.
I saw the Hammer version of Dracula before the Universal one. So Christopher Lee's Dracula is my favorite. Wow this must been a really time consuming project sis and it turned out awesome!🫡 Good discussion and cool video Sarah!👉🏼🙂👈
I've noticed a big Dracula boom in the past couple of years. There was a Dracula drought for a while then all of a sudden Dracula movies started popping up again, in the mainstream anyway.
Very good in depth analysis of Dracula, Miss Sarah! The choker is a nice visual, perhaps hinting at which Dracula you prefer? Have a spooky week, Miss Sarah.
Stoker was influenced by previous literature much more than he was by folklore. The most iconic vampire novels before Dracula were Polidori's The Vampyre and Le Fanu's Carmilla. At the trashier end of the market, there was a serialised story called Varney the Vampire, that was eventually published as a massive novel. Stoker would have got all his basic notions about vampires from this literature.
Bela lugosi= suave Christopher lee= menacing and intimidating Gary oldman= romantic Richard roxburgh= theatrical and flamboyant Luke evans= gorgeous Claes bang= playful and mocking
Awesome video 🔥, my favorite Dracula is Gary Oldman Dracula, Luke Evans Dracula from Dracula Untold , Christopher Lee's Dracula and a few more , also this one is more unknown in comparison to these live action performances but another one of my favorite Dracula's is Dracula from the animated movie The Batman Vs Dracula and Dracula was voiced by the great Peter Stormare in this animated movie and also I love Dracula from the animated Netflix show Castlevania. 🧛🦇🩸
When I was younger, I liked werewolves because I was drawn to their savage nature... but as I've matured and mellowed out, the vampires have become my favorite supernatural beings, and Dracula stands King among them, he has become so diverse thru the centuries...
Great video! Thank you for this extensive research!❤ I did read an essay of how Dracula and Sherlock Holmes is the other side of the coin. An intellectual, asexual detective addicted to cocaine, symbolizing the heyday of science during victorian times, and the polar opposite to an amoral, lusty and blood thirsty undead, symbolizing the repression of sexuality.
My ranking is: 1. Bela, 2. Chris, 3.Gary. Universal strangely neglected the character after the 1st one unlike Frankenstein which had many sequels although Lon Chaney's stab at it is a pretty good movie. German Robles in the Mexican El Vampiro is Dracula in all but name and is an excellent addition. Best wishes
@@whatthehorror I would like to see one on King Lycaon because I think he out does Dracula but people don't want to know it and they don't want to believe it

This video is well produced, but you got a lot of stuff wrong. Repeats a lot of common myths that aren't actually true (Vlad the Impaler connection, Lugosi learning his lines phonetically)
Hold up! In Van Helsing Dracula was related to Anna's many years great grandfather & at the ball Dracula was going to make her one of his brides his bride? Dude, that's gross they're related to each other & Dracula must've been hard up to want another wife already. Hey man, you got eternity to find another wife slow your freaking rolls.

Definitely becoming My favourite horror channel, very enjoyable this 👍🫡
Thank you
This is so excellent. I’m so excited you’re going to do more for all the Universal Monsters because I NEED a Phantom of the Opera one. 👻
How is it possible this girl doesn't have at least 100k subbers? It's criminal. She's so good. Love ya!

I really like the BBC production but I can imagine lots of fans not liking it because it's so different. But it does respect and nod to the original

Dracula has been adapted to film more than once. But he's still a pain in the neck.

There's something mature about vampires. Suave.
there was an earlier vampire novel that may have inspired stokers novel ! Sheridan Le Fanu, `s 1872 novel Camilla has much in common with dracula !
I saw this video and was like, “Yeah, this is a channel I could get into!” Then I saw the rest of your videos haha. #IAmAChicken

The many faces and the only one that seems to match Stoker's description of the count closest, IMO, was Christopher Lee in "Count Dracula".

I always felt Ford Coppola's version overblown.

Despite the flaws of the show itself, I enjoyed Klaes Bang as Dracula in the Netflix series.
Why does everyone leave out the first Nosferatu remake, which even uses the name Dracula rather than Orlok?
