This was an amazing episode. The scenery is just stunning and I really enjoyed seeing Dan taking on challenges brought on by mother nature with such confidence and optimism before sharing reflective thoughts of not wanting his own mother to worry for him and closing this experience with appreciative thoughts of others in his support system. Pretty cool.
Balderdash! These videos are in no way boring. I'm loving them. You have a lot of guts to go trekking around a country you are unfamiliar with. Most people would have given up in the first day (especially with out their creature comforts) and you didn't give up. That is to be admired.
Having walked and climbed all around the Cairngorms you just have to enjoy the views, no mobile signal and solitude. You could do with a walking stick which would give you more stability when crossing streams and rivers, but that comes with time it also takes the pressure of the load. Did you have a map, this would give you the contours and terrain for the next day so no more big hills. I hope you enjoyed my backyard, your videos are great to watch and having done these walks it's nice to see someone else filming them and the weather was great.
Dan, when you have to cross a cold stream, take off your shoes, socks, and trousers. Endure the cold for a moment, then put on dry clothes and shoes again. Loving the Scotland series.
Beautiful scenery brother. I too love to backpack. Have had enough gear to do the Appalachian Trail for years now. I love to be outdoors. Great hike and video. Terry.
Dan, I second the emotion why you should bring a hiking stick- one saved me from going over a steep hill , acting as a brake as I was going down hill.Helps stabilize you on water fording , steep trails, rough ground, rickety bridges, fending -off wild cats.I make my own out of wild Filbert
Good Old Dan,You will come out of this a much more enlightened person, I'm starting to enjoy the wild camping as much as the metal detecting videos now. Thanks. Rob.
If You keep this up you are forcing me to og out into the Wild and find crazy things to do :) Thanks again for these wonderful moments and cant wait for NeXT. Greetings from WW2HH
Great video! I have camped in the rain before. The sound is actually very relaxing. Also good to see another person in the world that doesn't destroy things for their own personal comfort (1:09) Great video.
Looks like it's went well for you to date Dan, luckily you never got a dump of snow that we often get up here in November onwards, unless you have that in future episodes.
Very Dodgy crossing that stream on the mountain side bet the stone where very slippery. Was waiting for grass sky, grass sky, ouch. But you managed hell of a drop. Going to test you now moor walking . Will drain you with all that weight on your back. Great video. Cheers Dave
Great videos Dan very beautiful area and you are very funny.Love Scotland lived there for a year my first daughter was born there.I wish you had done some fishing great brooks to fish in.
Haha omg that scary bridge over the water , i had to do that on a round pipe once and everyone was laughing at me , beautiful scenery , id have took my shoes and socks off and braved the cold water lol , haha at the tree drinking , best wishes :)
Now that I'm seeing you in #6, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you survived the trials and hardships of #5. Way-To-Go! I look forward to #5. Great Work. THANKS!
Stop worrying about being entertaining. The reason why I like you so much is the fact that you fly by the seat of your pants, you learn as you go. No matter what you record and post, every one of your videos is like Christmas morning.... you never know what your gonna get!
The devil has three names because he likes coming at you from three different directions at once to increase his chances of catching you completely off guard. Love your video's Dan and thanks... ;)
Dan, you need to get your amateur radio license so you can get messages out from remote locations. A very small, light weight ham radio will get out just fine from your location.
If you go on a trek next time, for sure consider trekking poles. Youll be amazed how much less muscle fatigue on legs and back they make when hauling heavy gear. I like Leki Corklites but there are other lightweight poles.
+Deep Digger Dan Come to Montana, Put 120# of Elk meat on your back and a 6 mile walk pack out up those tiny mountains in Scotland you wouldnt cross with snow then tell me about sissy sticks. Then go back for the rest of your meat because it takes 5-6 trips to get it all out. Oh and Bear, Wolves and Mnt Lion following you and your camp. Kudos to you for your trekk
I always take crocs with me when hiking and expecting these streams. I take off me pants and walk through the river with naked feet in the crocs. REALLY cold, but better than wet feet.
I was very afraid for you when you mentioned that sound. What you heard and thought was a grouse was the sound of a Scottish sasquatch. You are very lucky to have survived that night. It must have been a male.
Thank you for seeing if we where all paying attention by uploading a video in non sequential order. Deep digger Dan keeping it real. Such a burden to be flesh and blood and not a huge production company. I bet you have to make your own tea and everything 😊
Dear Dude Digger Dan, how's it going? You're pretty new at this aren't you?! It looks a pretty daunting trip, especially for the time of year, with gear you don't seem to know well. There are many things I'd like to impart to you, but I admire your spirit taking on such a trip in the first place. I think I'd have chosen somewhere with fewer potential hazards... Like water! And Heathery pitches!! And steep-sided tracks across water!!! It's big, dangerous country across those southern aspects of the Cairngorms, and really, with an over-heavy pack, I'd have chosen somewhere more do-able - people have been killed trying to cross the Feshie, and its tributaries in the past, and this will happen again in the future unfortunately. You seem to have more than enough kit, too much, so you make it hard for yourself. BTW - grouse make that sound, a fast ke-ke-ke-ke-ke etc that can sound slightly duck-like. I haven't discovered how the rest of your trip went (you didn't find phone or internet for days, did you?!), but I hope you learned much, and enjoyed even the scary bits, as it's these that add to your long-term stock and experience in the end. I have travelled all those obstacles along the Feshie many times, and they are all easy enough to overcome with practice and with care. Good luck with all future endeavours, Yogabob.
I was pondering, how often did you pass or meet people doing the same as you, walking the trail? Playing catch up on past vids, your doing quit well for the boggy, wet self treking conditions! Hike on my friend!
Ok, did I or did I not tell you to watch "Into the Wild" before you did this? Of course, not being able to ford a very fast moving river was a much worse situation for the main character in the movie... but I knew you would run into something like it.
Loving this! I live in America, but one day I plan on going to Scotland and Ireland, and now I kind if want to do some wild camping while there. Also, how are you charging your phone and camera?
You forgot about Lucifer.. Anyhoo, most entertaining and it makes me want to do similar. Trouble is I get to the top of our local mountain then go home knackered.
To maybe answer your question Dan, I don't know because I'm not religious but maybe Satin is his name, devil is his "species" and I don't know about the 3rd one. Maybe another religion? I don't know I'm just speculating.
Hey Dan, today is my birthday and I just had a question for you. Where do you live? Like where are you from? And what is your profession? Have you made youtube a profession yet? I love your videos and I'm just so curious!
Christ means "The anointed one" So i guess some people may think his last name is Christ lol But they didn't use last names back then... Great job as always Dan!

fantastic I feel like I'm taking the hike with you, you're very brave for your first camping trip and are doing great.
Dan, when you have to cross a cold stream, take off your shoes, socks, and trousers. Endure the cold for a moment, then put on dry clothes and shoes again.
Loving the Scotland series.

Depending on my Dad's mood, I grew up with at least three names!
Excellent stuff. Enjoying your adventure Dan.
Great video- that waterfall was dodgy enough. You could hardly get past the bus stop in the first episode.. Fair play!
Thanks for the video I know it's a good few years ago 😊 but well done you are doing grand!!😎🦇🦇🇬🇧
Good Old Dan,You will come out of this a much more enlightened person, I'm starting to enjoy the wild camping as much as the metal detecting videos now. Thanks. Rob.

It's all fine and dandy until that nest of spider eggs laid deep in your sinus passages while you sleep finally hatches. Instant moustache!
you need a good walking staff to help get across those hard spots and take some of the weight off your back and legs.
lol a sword then
***** most stupid comment ever well done dan
What a beautiful place Dan. You're a lucky man.
Be well,
Al-Fu

Listen Deep Digger Dan, that is not a river where I come from, that is a creek! Lol!
I was very afraid for you when you mentioned that sound. What you heard and thought was a grouse was the sound of a Scottish sasquatch. You are very lucky to have survived that night. It must have been a male.

There would have been lots of gold in that waterfall!!
I often wonder how are you recharging your camera batteries in the woods. Are you using solar charging or when you stop for supplies you plug it in.
Love your camping videos dan did you get any ticks while in the woods?
To maybe answer your question Dan, I don't know because I'm not religious but maybe Satin is his name, devil is his "species" and I don't know about the 3rd one. Maybe another religion? I don't know I'm just speculating.
best video so far :)
This might be off topic but how did you come up with "Come on Get in?" Love the channel by the way.
Hey Dan, today is my birthday and I just had a question for you. Where do you live? Like where are you from? And what is your profession? Have you made youtube a profession yet? I love your videos and I'm just so curious!
If it´s to bumpy headbut the ground until it´s flat. Old Viking advice.
Christ means "The anointed one" So i guess some people may think his last name is Christ lol But they didn't use last names back then... Great job as always Dan!
Looks like hardcore camping Lol ! Nice video !
Great video man! To answer the devil question: think of the devil, Satan, etc. As a throne or a title...not just a name.
fun dan ty! :)
