Sebastian was the man back in the late 80's and early 90's. Then grunge came out and ruined the rock industry. It's funny though, because Alice N'Chains started out as a rock band and never considered themselves a grunge band. I never thought there were a lot of good bands from the grunge scene other that STP and Soundgarden. I couldn't stand Nirvana and that song, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I listened to the entire Nirvana album and only one song that I thought was good. and that was it. I mean, Nirvana is a very talented but there music I thought was not very good. Take a guy like Layne...now there's a vocalist just like Sebastian. Both great singers and very emotional singers.
Ok I love Sebastian however I will say his voice sounds like he in hailed some helium, his voice use to be deeper, I've seen several newer interviews with him and it's very strange how his voice seems much higher then it use to be but the personality is who he is, no censor, which is one of the things I love about him!
He always had a bit of a higher speaking voice. I would imagine, the way he sings, and all the years of scream singing, has played havoc on his vocal chords. It is pretty amazing he can still sing, as well as he does though.
