hey i ahve a "service power steering" on my explorer, i took it to the mechanic for an inspection and the alternator was charging low and they said that i needed a new battery since it wasat 50% capacity, so i just replaced the battery and I'm still getting that light, what do you think it can be? my explorer has 130k miles@@musclecargarage8882
@@musclecargarage8882 2013 f150, 87,000 miles power steering assist fault... if the fault is NOT in, truck drives fine. Faults only when it has been cold weather.... sum bool shit is what it is....
Brutha, thanks for the info. I got a 2013 f150. Power steering assist fault. Fualt is intermitent, comes and goes, seems like the cold weather took it out. Buncha bull shit. If the fault aint in, power steering is fine. Fault comes up, no powersteering. I only got 87,000 miles on it.... WTF.... thanks for video
Wheel speed sensor or Tpms The fault doesn’t mean the steering has a fault, but it’s actually in manual mode. The Eletric power steering needs to know how much air in the tires and how fast the wheels are turning to be able to mimic hydraulic steering I hope my research helps someone
I have a 2004 Mazda rx8 and it has electrical power steering.. I wasn't working for a few months but it was just a connection issue.. Works like a charm now, but I am about to buy a ford 2015 with electric power steering. They said the wheels won't turn.. Weird cause when my Mazda power steering went out I drove it for months super stiff.. once the wheels get rolling it's easy to steer My question is can I still steer the new ford 2015 ? It will just be stiff like my Mazda right???
my Ford explorer 2011 XLT power steering fault assist warning came on (1/22/2024) while driving in a parking lot and I could not steer the car. I kill the engine and restart the car and now I can steer. I am scared, how to fix this problem?
I had the same issue and I would fix it the same way u did. U will have to replace the electric steering rack and pinion and also get it reprogram to ur vehicle
I didn't fix i sold it. But u would have to replace the electric rack and pinion steering and then u would have to get the ecm reprogram for the new electric rack and pinion
Hi, I can make a video montage to better promote your video ? And I can also offer an option so that each of your videos is watched by 10,000 - 100,000 people
Change your tpms sensors. For some reason when they go out it causes power steering loss and much more.
Thanks for the tip but I already got rid of it
Im having this issue now ima try them sensors before I do the whole rack n pinion is it possible to diag those sensors?
I'm not too sure. Most just replace the rack
So is it best to sell the car or trade it would you recommend?
@tracipbrmomlewis1088 U Can fix it yourself or pay a shop a couple thousand dollars to fix it
I agree with you .just got an explorer and this happened very angry at ford
Oh wow how many miles did yours have?? I had about 206k miles on mines

@jvst20051 oh ok thats low miles for any of that type of stuff to be happening

Yea man it sucks. Idk what was wrong with hydraulic power steering pump
Wheel speed sensor or Tpms

Thats good to know. My air pressure was good and tps were also good.
@@musclecargarage8882 it’s usually the wheel speed sensor, AKA abs sensor, and rarely the tpms
Ok hopefully it will help someone in the future since I got rid of it

That is correct. The steering wheel will be stiff but once u start moving it will be like ur Mazda

Folks, check the battery! I had the same thing... Battery wasn't dead, but was weak! Good luck!
How do I solve stiff steering
You have to get the electric rack and pinion changed then get it program to your car
How can some one solve stiff steering ?
A new electric rack and pinion then u need a shop to reprogram it to the car
Replace rack and pinion
Yea but I already sold it
Oh I’m sorry I had the same problem and I replaced my rack and pinion
@gettothug1718ify it's cool. I should have replaced so I wouldn't have no car payment now. Did u have to get it reprogram
@@musclecargarage8882 no
Thought u would have to get it reprogram to the car once u replace it since it's an electric unit

Mine just failed. 2012, 177K miles. Hell I didn't even realize it wasn't hydraulic into I looked into it today. Shit is so dumb.
That sucks. If u do decide to get it replaced ur going to have to get the new 1 programed to ur car
I'm very angry with the explorer I have to screw ford
Trust me I'm with u. The water pump job is another POS and a expensive job if u pay someone to do it. A chain driven water pump
