Zhang Wuji is the fictional protagonist of the wuxia novel The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber by Jin Yong.
This is the last part of The Trilogy Condor Heroes which began with Legend of the Condor Heroes and continued in Return of the Condor Heroes. Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre took place nearly 100 years after the events of Return of the Condor Heroes in a China ruled by the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty.
Legend said that whoever obtains the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Saber can rule the world. Zhang Wuji was orphaned at a young age by schemes to discover secrets of these two weapons. Despite his preference to live a non-violent life, Wuji found himself embroiled in the struggles for power and must fight to save himself and others he loves...
Zhang Wuji has a more complicated personality as compared to Guo Jing and Yang Guo. He possesses less heroic traits than them and has an equal balance of strengths and weaknesses. The presence of these humanly traits in him makes him more realistic as compared to the other two protagonists in the Condor Trilogy. Zhang Wuji's personality is strongly influenced by social factors and the people around him. He is often placed in situations in which he has no other choice but to adapt to. He has no chance of escaping from harsh reality.
His relationships with his four love interests Zhao Min, Zhou Zhiruo, Xiaozhao and Yin Li are extremely complicated. He is very hesitant and indecisive on who his true love is. Apparently, he loves Zhao Min the most and makes that clear to Zhou Zhiruo at the end of the novel. However, one can really speculate whether, deep inside his heart, he really knows who his true love.

Yes, this Chinese TV series has been remake many times. The original work is an ancient Chinese novel
this is a nice remake, though my favorite version of this fight scene was the 2008 remake.

this is the final series in a trillogy. all the other dramas before it are way more epic. Legend of the condor heroes , return of the condor of the condor heroes and this one. the prequel to all these is semi devils and demi gods. watch all the latest versions

Maybe you have to wait 5 years or more for this series because this is the last series in the triliogy condor heroes novel. starting from The Legend of the Condor Heroes (Kwee Ceng/Guo Jing), The Return of the Condor Heroes (Yo Ko/Yang Guo), then The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (Thio Boe Ki / Zhang Wuji). But don't be sad because series The Return of the Condor Heroes will be released, although not knowing exactly when

This show executed all the fight scene and choreograph really well. Though i have to say that there are some scene that i like the older version.

@@rbnbreakdown18 they changed here and there..but, i think they did it right, it's one of the best adaptation..the ending in the novel was revised by the author too about 3 times, tho..

2003 is still the best version, this version lacks any "real" kung fu stance.. all over the top cuts and dramatic ..
Complaining about camera work, and then citing 2003 is a bit weird.
I liked 2003, but damn near every story driven shot is a closeup on their faces throughout most of the series. Always closeups. It gets old really fast.

If they would have only sharpened their swords in the branch vs sword fight. Would have been a lot different outcome...
It could be assumed that he using the energy redirection aspects of the qian kun da nuo yi, so that the branch wasn't taking much impact, and also probably solidifying and strengthening the branch with Jui Yang Shen Gong when needed.
I don't recall any details like this from the novel though, it's been too long since I've read it. He may not have even used a branch in the novel, for all I remember.
