One thing that these guys really had/have going for them is they were workout beasts. Many people don’t realize how much playing music actually physically strains you, it’s really hardcore. Well done man! Imho, Eric is the best baritone voice in metal, among other greats such as his hero, Ian Gillan, or Matt Barlow. And let's not forget other baritone giants in rock such as Freddie Mercury, Chris Cornell, David Coverdale, Roy Khan, Jorn Lande... The list would go on endlessly! I'm a classical trained tenor (and I love rock and metal, music is music!!) but let's be honest... The silk qualities of the tone, the warmth, depth and thickness of baritones, are some things which I really love!!! That's because I always find Eric's voice so attractive and beautiful! The only thing I dislike about him is that he had to be more active!! With such a great voice, we have very few records to enjoy his skills!!! I would like to hear your take on Michael Kiske. One more thing: his name is Louis Marullo. Eric and Adam are his sons, and he took Eric Adams as his stage name en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Adams_(musician)
Great analysis in the video! only one thing i found missing is to mention that the last 10 years, during the live shows they are tuned 2 semitones down.... this is a huge relief for a singer that screams, and almost every metal band is doing it at that age, except iron maiden, so a huge bravo to eric, for trying his best at 71 yrs old, but also kudos to bruce for being the only "famous" metal band that they still hold the original E tuning on their instruments live.
The reason Manowar tuned down about 15 - 20 years ago was due to the new style that metal had gained in recent years. The material they wrote in that time (call to arms being 1 example) Still contains G5 and G#5 notes, some of Eric's all time highest. There's even an Bb5 in the song "Immortal" from 2022, which he sings every time. It's not 2 semitones down for Eric's ease, its because It's easier to leave the guitars in that tuning, rather than keep tuning up and down between songs
Sadly and criminally underrated and underexposed in the U.S. He is not just the greatest metal vocalists ever, he is one of the greatest vocalists in history. His versatility is unmatched.
Best Singer in the whole (metal) world ... no one beat his screams in his golden days! Michael Kiske (Helloween, Unisonic) is close to him, but another style, Michaels voice doesn`t aged allover the years, check out the live versions of "Keeper of the seven keys" and "A tale that wasn`t right" from the pumpkins united tour or the stuff on the new brillant album - wish manowar make such a great masterpiece album nowadays! ... of course, there are many great singers and frontmen, but, this two are my absolute favorites! Thx for video!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, Michael Kiske has aged hardly at all, over 38 years of his career. I recently covered him in my latest Singer Breakdown, a video I'm sure you'll enjoy too! Eric is so underrated. I always show people his live renditions of American Trilogy, Nessun Dorma and Fighting the World when they ask me for proof of his talent
Good production interesting... maybe cover someone lesser knowns: Midnight (Crimson Glory) listen to red sharks or Cryilis from Agent Steel , Warrel From Sanctuary listen to batte angels, Wyne or Mike from Metal Church listen to 'the dark' and Badlands.
Eric Adams, along with Halford, Dickinson, and Dio, helped set the standard for metal vocals. I'm somewhat ashamed of my fellow American metal fans, because Eric never got the recognition here that he deserved. Too many people couldn't look past the early stage costuming, while going nuts over the neon spandex of the Los Angeles scene.
Well done, great video! Did some research on Manowar lately for a school project and I found your video here. Not only it's been a pleasure watching it. It also provides me with a new view on the man who is the voice of my favourite band, in an easy understandable and musically well researched manner. Thank you very much for putting this video together. I like it very much!
I'm very glad you enjoyed it Bro! And thank you for your kind comments. I tried to make it as clear as I could. Let me know how your project goes. Manowar used to be the subject of every college assignment I could fit them Into
@@StaticYonder Man it's great to hear that there are other enthusiastic Manowar fans out there. I hope all those college assignments brought you some good grades. Does anyone know what is the video at min 4:14? Eric deserves much more recognition than he gets, I just watched a Manowar video from 2023 of Battle Hymns and it's awesome how he sings,.
The Video is the full recording of a 1992 show of the Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy track, from the Triumph of Steel album. I think it's fairly easy to find on the internet if you type in something similar to what I just said 😊
We are! Even more blessed that we're alive at the same time as him. Having lost so many rock legends before their time, including Scott Columbus, we're extra lucky that Eric survived. Long may he live
@@StaticYonder Not only his phenomenal stamina and technical vocal abilities are outstanding, his pure artistic expression range is impeccable. Purest steel approved by the Paris Bureau of Weights and Measures.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed! Eric has the most amazing voice. Over time, though changed, it hasn't degraded. In my opinion, the rasp of age has added more metal to his screams, yet his operatic stuff is still clean and powerful Hail back at you from Hertfordshire 🇬🇧 I hope to visit Argentina one day
That was absolutely fantastic . I been a fan of ManoWar since the early days . Not many Brits like my self know them . I would be very interested to what you think of Steve Hogarth from Marillion and his voice on the song Neverland. For me its probably one of the best songs i have heard .
There is no metal more metal than Manowar. Eric is the best vocally, same as Joey on Bass. They are called Kings Of Metal for reason. I was lucky enough to meet them some years ago in Czech. They filmed "I Believe" official clip there, where I can see myself and part of the "Hell on Wheels pt3" as well, where I can see myself several times on DVD. But the best part was (since we were waiting at the gates 12 hours before the show), because we wanted to be on the show in the front row (which we were) and we traveled from Slovakia there for like 8 hours, because of night train connections... so the best part was, after the show, we were in one of the hotel's bar sitting by the counter and then out of the blue someone tap my shoulder, I turned and there was Eric saying "I remember you from the show" Would you believe? :) after Joey came, then few mins later RIP Scott and Karl... they sit there with us maybe for an hour and talked to us like we were friends for many years. They signed of course our Tshirt and tickets. After that I said... "I can die now" , it was amazing.... oh and another small thing, during that weekend because of traveling, show and traveling back (and connections), I wasn't sleeping for almost 65 hours!!! I almost really died 3 years ago I managed to be awake again for 62 hours, during the filming Game Of Thrones (I was there as an extras for half a year) ... but Manowar was not beaten... as always ! HAIL, KILL and DIE
Wow, amazing story my brother! Thank you for sharing your wonderful story. Its truly wonderful that you got to meet Manowar, especially Scott! He may be gone, but nobody can ever take that from you
@@StaticYonder ... No problem. Btw I saw your story on Manowar web if I am not wrong. Savage :) My first song was "Defender" when I was not knowing what I want to listen. But after that song it was decided lol Since then Manowar is part of me and I love everything they do. I wish for new album

I've actually spoken with Dan via the comments section before! Love the guy, very talented, lovely voice, adore his cover of "My Mother told Me" from Vikings
2023.....Eric is almost 72 I believe now. Got to see Manowar c a couple of months ago....the guy can SING. He absolutely smashes it at an age others can barely talk anymore *cough*Gillan*cough*.
Eric has just turned 71! And still as good as ever. I fully agree that Gillan has lost his original golden touch, but he is almost 80 so its very hard to be mad
@@StaticYonder Not mad at Guillan. Don't get me wrong, byt the last time I heard him was in '15 I think and has nothing but a shell of his younger self. So age-wise the same with Eric, but Eric remains dynamite.
I must contradict you mate; Eric has never had a range greater than 4 octaves. 4 octaves is still supreme, and I warn anyone against deifying even the greatest singers, such as Eric, by lying about his attributes. He's the best because of how he sings, now how many notes he can squeak out As for Axl, I think his is around 5 octaves, truly superhuman, but again, Eric's voice is just better in my opinion. Warmer and tonally more consistent (not to mention still kicking at 71 where Axl sounds like Mickey mouse at 62) *Range is not everything*
@@StaticYonder I never stated range was everything. You can just look it up :) In his prime Eric could sing 4 octaves. It's just a fact :) ( G1 to the soprano C6 ). And i said Axl could sing more than.. Just try to read correctly. I sing myself and more than 3 octaves is not superhuman. It's loads of practice. You don't sing yourself, do you ? :) For a manowar fan you clearly don't know alot :P
StaticYonder that is surely a better thought :) I always thought that way too. But back in the day you wouldn’t hear about them so much. Now, with all those recent interviews, and the eagerness in Eric’s tone towards the idea of retirement in the Weltwacht interview where he also said how he refused being in the band several times, I couldn’t help thinking this way. Actually, I listened to that interview the night before the show in Istanbul and was worried when he was not yet on stage and just singing in backstage. I know they do it all the time but still there was this crazy idea that he just would not show up and some tape would play his voice instead :D
@@ElderScrolls7 I also listened to the Weltwach podcast before I saw them in Birmingham! I had heard it weeks before, and decided to listen again before the show. And don't worry, it takes alot for Manowar to leave a show. Out of the ENTIRE final battle, Hellfest was the only one that didn't happen, and to be fair, after some research, it transpires the organisers were nasty to everyone that year
@@StaticYonder Eric has many hunting podcasts floating around actually. I recently listened to the one where he talks about the guy he saw in the forest with blood all over him. Pleasure to listen to him talk. He does sound very different though (also on those hunting interview videos). He has a very different accent compared to when he sings. Funny because on top of English classes I actually learned English listening to him singing (after 30 something years I still continue to do so). But if it was his talking I don't think I could understand so well. Now I can, but I don't think I could with my English level from 30 years ago.
@@ElderScrolls7 that's awesome man! Yeah Eric Sings with incredibly clear diction, but when he talks you can tell he's from New York state. Just goes to show how talented he is Which podcast is the one you mentioned? May I have the link please?
Wonderful question! It's currently sitting on my computer, which has refused to switch on for well over a week now 😂 it's almost finished, but work, and the arsehole called my computer, are getting in the way
I wonder why so many vocal coaches and reactioners wont cover Eric Adams, or they outright refuse to make a video about him. Why so many dislike him, while at the same time everyone makes videos about Rob Halford, Axl Rose, Bruce Dickinson etc..
Its a mystery to me my friend. Everyone just tries to put Manowar down, they weren't lying about that in kings of metal. Many also site Joey's ego as a musical turn off, but honestly hes a tremendously accomplished composer and guitarist so he has earned some bragging quality. 99% of the time it seems like just Bravado to me. Nevertheless that shouldn't affect what people think of Eric. A wonderful singer, a wonderful man and the most infectious sense of humour in any room
@@StaticYonder Yea I also think Eric gets bad rep because of Joey. I guess ppl are just jelous because how talented they are. Then again, Manowar was never really popular in USA, but totally loved all over Europe

The best screams of heavy metal. 🤘🤘
great video! Would love to see more
Best Singer in the whole (metal) world ... no one beat his screams in his golden days!
Eric is a beast!!. Best metal singer!. I have more manowar live videos on my channel!!. Thanks for all. #hail
Thanks my brother, I'll be sure to check your videos out!
#HailandKill
Awesome video!
Eric Adams is on par with halford n dio .. overlooked raw talent
he really opened up on DARK AVENGER
My project went really good (got me 18 out of 20 points). Hopefully there'll be some more opportunities to make Manowar the subject of upcoming projects, just like you did.
Eric was a tenor in his prime. He would hit C5 and D5 in full voice (such as Hail to England) and would transition to mixed voice at about E5.
well, his transition is very hard for me to determine, hence your section on his tone being so even throughout. you could be right.
I had the pleasure to see them twice live!
Very pleased for you! They're a band worth seeing many times!
Great video! Whatever I would say, it's mentioned in the comments below. Great job, thanks for the efforts! Hail Eric!
Born Louis Marullo on July 12, 1952. Eric Adams is his stage name taken from his kids. Second best singer EVER only to Ronnie James Dio.
What a great analysis of the best
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
Thirty-six years Manowar fan .
I was 10yo boy and now I am 46yo .
Fan for ever .
That's great, my friend. I hope to be into Manowar for as long as you. Hopefully forever
I met eric in denver on the street asked him who can scream as strong as you he thiuught for e while ciuld not think of anyone
Thats brilliant man! I'm glad you had a nice experience
very cool, Eric is a good singer
How about a video on Joey’s composing? His non-metal pieces (as in GoW) are equally powerful as the metal songs imo.
I think I would like to do something like this! Might have to enlist some help from other musicians to do it justice.
Keep your eyes peeled 👀
@@StaticYonder looking forward!
Ivan Rebroff and Eric Adams is my favorite singers. If one wants a treat? Listen to Rebroff. Not metal but still... damn
I love Ivan Rebroff! What a phenomenonal range!
Evening bells is my personal favourite piece. Kalinka is also a classic
I think it's fairly easy to find on the internet if you type in something similar to what I just said 😊
We are blessed that we could listen to Eric Adams
We are! Even more blessed that we're alive at the same time as him. Having lost so many rock legends before their time, including Scott Columbus, we're extra lucky that Eric survived. Long may he live
@@StaticYonder there are times that I think that if we lose him, existance will cease :)
@@Red21Viper I Know that feeling, he seems in excellent health though. Check out Joey Demaio's podcast, words of power, Eric was on it this past week
THE BEST metal singer ever.
Yep! As far as technique goes, he's way ahead of the curve
@@StaticYonder Not only his phenomenal stamina and technical vocal abilities are outstanding, his pure artistic expression range is impeccable.
Purest steel approved by the Paris Bureau of Weights and Measures.
Eric - True Metal God
My favorite metal vocalist
G.O.A.T. vocalist. Uneffortlessly...
The king ! Love from Austria:)
brilliant vid dude, hurry up with the rob halford one!!!!
that would be cool to see!
Wow! Great job, Brother of True Metal!
Thank you bro! Glad you enjoyed
And thank you for subscribing! It means a lot
@@StaticYonder, I love Eric, I know most of their songs, but didn't know about the Kids! Thank you!
Nice video lad ! Eric Adams is just the best singer in music history. Hail From Argentina
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed! Eric has the most amazing voice. Over time, though changed, it hasn't degraded. In my opinion, the rasp of age has added more metal to his screams, yet his operatic stuff is still clean and powerful
Hail back at you from Hertfordshire 🇬🇧
I hope to visit Argentina one day
@@StaticYonder You will be welcome pal !!
@@StaticYonder you will be welcome brother of metal. i been in uk, nice lands. nice people.
That was absolutely fantastic . I been a fan of ManoWar since the early days . Not many Brits like my self know them . I would be very interested to what you think of Steve Hogarth from Marillion and his voice on the song Neverland. For me its probably one of the best songs i have heard .
I'll definitely check that out bro, thanks! Nice to see another brit called Joe that appriciates everything "True Metal" \m/
@@StaticYonder
That song i recommended is not heavy, but i like all sorts and it for me is a master peace
after Joey came, then few mins later RIP Scott and Karl... they sit there with us maybe for an hour and talked to us like we were friends for many years. They signed of course our Tshirt and tickets.
After that I said... "I can die now" , it was amazing.... oh and another small thing, during that weekend because of traveling, show and traveling back (and connections), I wasn't sleeping for almost 65 hours!!! I almost really died
3 years ago I managed to be awake again for 62 hours, during the filming Game Of Thrones (I was there as an extras for half a year) ... but Manowar was not beaten...
Savage :)
My first song was "Defender" when I was not knowing what I want to listen. But after that song it was decided lol
Since then Manowar is part of me and I love everything they do. I wish for new album
@@pavolridrich3434 Your intuition serves you well! My story is on their website! I'm glad you liked it. Defender is a really great song. I'm glad it also had a positive impact on you
Joey is a tool. His attitude ruins the band for me.
I was using some f##ing headphones. I have officially lost at least 20 db from both ears, but I am at least 20 years younger! Thanks!!!
Sorry, Brother! Glad you still managed to enjoy the video. I think it should be common practice for all Manowarriors to have an E.N.T Specialist on speed dial
I've seen them 27 times
Each time Eric crushed it!!
Lucky!
Eric Adams should be as much legend, up there with the greatest. He is sadly underrated. Another great singer is Michael Kiske from Helloween. Plz, check him out
You're so right! I'm a big fan of Michael Kiske. The longevity section of the video I do about him is gonna be the most detailed to date 😂
@@StaticYonder
I'm a big fan of Michael Kiske (with Helloween) and Eric Adams (and Manowar) and I really dream of a duet of those two amazing singers. This could be a project I would die for.
@@darryldhagan I would love them to duet! I could imagine Eric giving Dr.Stein a go, or Michael Wailing Battle Hymn/Hail and kill and full pelt
Brazilian metal vocalist Dan Vasc mentioned Eric Adams as one of his favorites. He specifically said, "Not the NYC mayor"!!!🤣🤣🤣
The best singer of all times. That's it. 🤘🏽👏🏽
He's a vocal hero!
Hey Brother, where could i see the full first clip with the scream?
Seems like a tv studio.
Have you heard Dan Vasc, the RUclips metal singer? He loves Manowar and Eric Adams and Dan’s voice is one of the best right now. He has quite a few Manowar cover songs. He is very skilled.
I've actually spoken with Dan via the comments section before! Love the guy, very talented, lovely voice, adore his cover of "My Mother told Me" from Vikings
Have you listened to Dan’s cover of Black Wind Fire and Steel? Dan is working on a Manowar tribute album@@StaticYonder
En directo impresiona mucho
In my mind, two do the most powerful male voices are Eric Adams and Devin Townsend.
Nice job, mate 🤘🏼
Thank you!
Awesome singer maybe the best one
Amen to that!
Eric has one of the most powerful voices in the Metal Community, he's absolutely up there with Halford, Bruce Dickinson and Ian Gillan of Deep Purple
Definitely, man!
I'd love to see Rob, Eric and Bruce sing "The One You Love to hate" together. Eric would be a phenomenal fit
Axl Rose and Eric Adams. Both more than 4 octaves ( in their prime ). One of the greater singers of the last 100 years.
I must contradict you mate; Eric has never had a range greater than 4 octaves. 4 octaves is still supreme, and I warn anyone against deifying even the greatest singers, such as Eric, by lying about his attributes. He's the best because of how he sings, now how many notes he can squeak out
As for Axl, I think his is around 5 octaves, truly superhuman, but again, Eric's voice is just better in my opinion. Warmer and tonally more consistent (not to mention still kicking at 71 where Axl sounds like Mickey mouse at 62)
*Range is not everything*
@@StaticYonder I never stated range was everything. You can just look it up :) In his prime Eric could sing 4 octaves. It's just a fact :) ( G1 to the soprano C6 ). And i said Axl could sing more than.. Just try to read correctly. I sing myself and more than 3 octaves is not superhuman. It's loads of practice.
You don't sing yourself, do you ? :) For a manowar fan you clearly don't know alot :P
By "supported falsetto" do you mean a partial glottal closure instead of more fully open vocal cords as seen in full falsetto?
Essentially, yes! A more accurate, equally basic definition than the one I gave would be: Falsetto, with more chord closure and breath support
One helluva singer💥👍
Your channel is awesome. Just subscribed it. Peace from India.
Who is Eric Adams? Eric is THE MAN.
świetny materiał🙂
Haill MANOWAR
HAILL ERIC ADAMS
Hail! =T=
Any ideas why he has been using a stage name? Could it be related to his initial reluctance?
I believe so! Or it might've been his way of honouring his family by taking the name of his children.
Just goes to show how talented he is
Which podcast is the one you mentioned? May I have the link please?
Id like to know erics vocal training, did he take lessons etc
Best metal scream of all time very underrated
props to joey for convincing eric adams to come back and join manowar

Rob Halford video is out now, bro!
@@StaticYonder oooooo nice
4:19 καποιος απο το ΚΨΜ να μου πει ποτε επαιξε στην ΕΤ2 Manowar;
