Jujutsu Kaisen (呪術廻戦, rgh. "Sorcery Battle")[b] is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. It has been serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018, with its chapters collected and published in 25 tankōbon volumes as of January 2024. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to eliminate a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host. Jujutsu Kaisen is a sequel to Akutami's Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, serialized in Shueisha's Jump Giga from April to July 2017, later collected in a tankōbon volume, retroactively titled as Jujutsu Kaisen 0, in December 2018.
Jujutsu Kaisen is licensed for English-language release in North America by Viz Media, which has published the manga in print since December 2019. Shueisha publishes the series in English on the Manga Plus online platform. Two novels, written by Ballad Kitaguni, were published in May 2019 and January 2020, respectively. A 24-episode anime television series adaptation produced by MAPPA, aired on MBS from October 2020 to March 2021; a second season aired from July to December 2023. A sequel covering the "Culling Game" arc has been announced. The anime is licensed by Crunchyroll for streaming outside of Asia, which premiered an English dub in November 2020. The anime's original soundtrack was released in April 2021.
By January 2024, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga had over 90 million copies in circulation, including related novels, digital versions and Jujutsu Kaisen 0, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.
Satoru Gojo (五ご条じょう悟さとる Gojō Satoru?) is one of the main protagonists of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He is a special-grade jujutsu sorcerer and widely recognized as the strongest in the world. Satoru is the pride of the Gojo Clan, the first person to inherit both the Limitless and the Six Eyes in four hundred years. He works as a teacher at the Tokyo Jujutsu High and uses his influence to protect and train strong young allies.

Cold take: Hakari is mad underrated. Not arguing he’s equal to, or stronger than Yuta even tho the narrative would argue similarly, but he is def on that level. He’s effectively immortal, the only person who can infinitely loop domains, he can change the constitution of his domain like when he flipped it in order to drop Kashimo into the ocean, and his RCT for obvious reasons. On top of this, outside of his domain he hit an on guard yuji (he saw the attack coming, and he was just outed) twice, perception blitzed Charles, and could ineffectively but actively keep up with and react to base Kashimo a month ago. Just because yuta has shown strong feats now doesn’t mean Hakari has none. HE LITERALLY HASNT HAD A WHOLE CHAPTER YET. A month ago he beat the strongest Edo sorcerer with minimal damage (he sacrificed his arm, and had no damage elsewhere due to his CE reinforcement amplified to an unknowable degree by the binding vow.), while Yuta struggled with who was seemingly the second strongest. Yet the agenda takes over and everytime Yuta is brought up, all context is forgotten about because “YuTa Is GeGe FaVoRiTe” or “HuMbLe” when half the time the context shows a different story.
Unironically I agree with Takaba vs Kenjaku being one of the best fights in the Shinjuku Showdown. I think it's cus I wasn't really invested in Gojo. Yuta and Yuji vs Sukuna is pretty good too

Hakari's base is pure trash. What stops Kuro to use his roaches to eat Hakari while targeting the hands first making JP useless? And let's say Hakari drives Kuro to a corner with his battle of attrition concentrated fighting style, what would stop Kuro from using Parthenogenesis after his roaches ate Hakari's flesh time after time again?
It's clear who's winning this, the gap between Kuro and Hakari is really not that big in terms of overall power. This is just a bad matchup for Hakari.

Gojo literally said that the term "special grade" is gonna be pretty useless to describe the new wave of power and he based that all off just okkotsu, Hakari and the disaster curses. the fanbase is too obsessed with putting all of the show's heavy hitters into boxes when all of them get their strength from being some sort of outlier. There's only 4 special grades because jujutsu society said there were 4, end of story. We are way better off comparing characters to each other, not the grades.

The criteria for special grade is really different between sorcerers and curses. Just look at Yuta,kenjaku,Yuki and gojo than look at jogo, kurorichi and Dagon (not counting Mahito he is a different breed).

I think with the grading system it could be that the time period just made people weak, there’s implications that the higher ups suck and don’t do anything. I think this might be what the story is implying bc I feel like had everything been prepared correctly in the world of jjk kenjaku and Sakuna would be cooked. (Imagine if the JJK world was prepared, there would be so many strong sorcerers ready to fight Kenny and Sakuna they’d mid diff them)

People overrated the SHIT out of Hakari
In order to be apecial grade you have to be able to over throw a nation, so in theory someone like todo can be AS STRONG as a special grade BUT cant be special grade due to the nature of his CT same thing applies to hakari so hakari might be as strong as a special but his CT and domain wont allow him to be special grade
That mahito hakari take is an L. Nanami (someone is way weak than hakari) was shown to protect against idle transfiguration from a weaker mahito than the one from shibuya, and base hakari was shown to be way stronger than a post shibuya yuji. So I think a jackpot hakari could protect himself from idle transfiguration.
Hot take maybe idk: I much prefer the friendship between the second years over the first years. Yuta, inumaki, panda and maki just felt closer and had more moments together that really sold me on their friendship in JJK 0. I feel like yuji, megumi and nobara's dynamic never felt a lot less organic and more like just like "haha funny" anime moments rather than a strong sense of comradery. I've heard people say this before but I think gege is honestly not the best when it comes to character interactions or just fun hang out scenes.

Wow 6 minutes in and here’s my second hot take. THEIR ARE ONLY 4 SPECIAL GRADE SORCERESS NO ONE ELSE. I wanna go on a whim and say Hakari and Yoruzo are High Grade 1 with potential to be Special grade. While Sukuna is Literally the King… he doesn’t get a grade he is the top. They gave him the name Sukuna or Ryumon because no one knew his name. Just because you have the Strenght, Power, CT or Skill to be Special grade doesn’t mean you are one unless you have All the requirements. How can you take over a country or destroy an armor with just a flashy CT or pure hands alone ? kashimo is the WEAKEST “Strongest” sorcerer due to the fact we’ve seen sorcerers like Ryu get one shot by a 19 finger Meguna while Yoruzo an arguably high grade one or low special grade sorcerer gave Meguna a pretty good fight and allowed him to test Mahoraga… Do you see KasHIMo, Ryu, Orao, or Even Reggie having the ability to push him in that way. (My point being I as a Kashimo fan now realize he was born into an era with weak sorcerers.) A lot of these characters don’t have the overall power to be special grade

Hot take, Maki shouldve been bodied by a chapter ago and should not be doing this well against Sukuna. When she trained with the sumo guy, she was said to be as strong as Toji yes? The same Toji that got bodied by teenage Gojo. And in no way, should she have been able to see BETTER THAN THE SIX EYES.
