  • Vintage Top Gear review of the Honda (Acura in the U.S.) NSX. Check out the mullet on a very young Jeremy Clarkson. (is that a 'Members Only' jacket?) Although the car is more than 20 years old, it still looks good. All in all it's exotic sports car looks and performance, without the high-maintenance relationship.

    I'd love to own an Acura NSX. (in America the NSX is rebadged as an Acura, but anyways I digress) This car always seemed like the perfect performance car to me. It has the performance characteristics of a Ferrari along with the reliability and (reasonable) practicality of a Honda. Few other cars offer such a compromise!

      Why did you feel the need to tell people it's an Acura in America?

    we will just leave out the fact that the other cars he mentioned are now basicly worthless and a good low mileage nsx will get about 30,000 for 95 and older. The chassis is timeless and can support 600hp+. Most dependable, drivable super car ever made. So bottom line the best.

      Ferrari 348? Worthless? It's got a bad reputation as a road car but they're definitely just as pricey as the NSX these days.

    • @DasMugen
      @DasMugen 3 года назад +1

      @@thebog11 I was a much younger man when this comment was congered up. Worthless was too harsh a word. The NSX was my childhood dream car, So any other car never really measured up. Logic need not aply. 358 is a pretty thing, but as far as a normal person keeping up with the shop bill..... 👎. Couldn't park it anywhere, couldnt afford the insurance and my personal favorite you would literally worry every second you were on the road. Now I know that since 2011 values have tripled on the 1st gen nsx, so now it is very Ferrari-ish. But its still a honda, or Acura or whatever lol.

      What i hate.
      Car enthusiasts In 1991: the nsx is a wannabe ferrari, its an overpriced honda that lacks the soul of a true supercar. What idiot would pay 70k for a stupid honda….
      Car enthusiasts 2021: omg the nsx was “legendary”, it was better than ferrari for better price, more reliable and has the true soul of a supercar. 70k was a steal!

    This car was ahead of it's time for sure and back then it felt too digital for these reviewers, which makes sense given then innovation and high level engineering that went into this. Now this car would be a dream to drive and would feel more alive and real vs the equivalent cars that have 100x more computers in the car

      It was great the day it came out, it gave even Ferrari F40 a run for its money in Tsukuba. It also was waster than Ruf 911 Turbo, Veilside Supra, stock Supra, Viper and Ferrari F456GT.

    3:49- I've always heard that the U.K. pronunciation of "aluminum" is much different than the U.S. pronunciation. Nothing bad or incorrect about either pronunciation, but it's just interesting to hear how different it is.

    Back in the day Top gear were so one track minded and hated cars from Japan because ‘they weren’t special enough ‘ ?..when really they were years ahead of the all the European manufacturers. Could Renault Citroen Fiat Vauxhall Ford design and produce cars like the Supra Mr2 celica Gt4 or the nsx. No they made clios Unos Pandas Novas Fiestas 🙈😅😅🤣😂

    • @MJ-uk6lu
      @MJ-uk6lu 3 года назад +5

      They really failed to appreciate NSX properly. It's a track weapon, it beat everything in Tsukuba, other than Ferrari F40. NSX was an insane machine and yet it can be used as daily driving machine. Such balance is very hard to achieve and pretty much no other car is even close to that.

    It’s a phenomenal car no doubt, but I don’t know why they ever called it a super car. I know it was made to compete with them but the numbers on paper just prove it’s not. If this is a super car, then the Supra, RX-7, 300ZX and Skyline are all super cars as well, which they aren’t, so neither is this.

    • @paulomagalhaes9405
      @paulomagalhaes9405 Год назад +1

      …NSX’s goal in 1990 was to compete in the F-348 & Porsche 911 Carrera 2 league, which were both "Supercars" at the time. So as the NSX managed to exceed both in some respects as its aluminum construction, overall performance, handling, driving precision, reliability, user friendlyness etc, it has been recognized since day one as supercar as well…
      Supra, Skyline, RX-7 and the (front engined) likes, not meant to play exactly in the same league, regardless of "track numbers" which usually say little about usable performance in everyday commuting…

      it is really much better than the disgusting Lambos and Ferraris from the time.
      Most importantly, it was so reliable, that every single car manufacturers just had to step up, it also had more power and handling than a ferrari for half of the price of it...
