W164 - ML550 Hood Emblem Replacement - 57mm Flat Black

In this video, I remove the cracked & peeling 57mm chrome Mercedes emblem from the hood and replace it with a sweet flat black version, ...which proves to be problematic. Nothing that prevents me from using it, however if you plan to replace yours, you may want to watch for a couple things. The specific item I ordered is below, so please watch this video & review what you plan to purchase carefully to avoid the same issue(s). Even if it is only $25-$35 bucks, that's a lap dance and a drink at some places!! 😆😂

I feel ya, this happened to me too, so i had to modify it and stick it with silicon and it sets perfectly sharp as it should 🤝.

Some models attach from under the hood, but not all. On mine, there is no opening on the bottom side of the hood at all. I checked when I originally found another emblem that attached that way & was indicated to be for the W164, but did not match mine.

Could have retained the lower stud to assist the vertical line up, but at least he tried to share the experience by filming and narrating, warned other potential purchasers about the offset issue, then adapted it to complete the task. It's too easy to criticize from behind the keyboard.

Yes, the original is made of plastic. I think the replacement is 3D printed with some kind of filament, I'm not sure which type.
(Ja, das Original ist aus Kunststoff. Ich denke, der Ersatz ist mit etwas filament 3D-gedruckt. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, welcher typ.)
