Just what I was looking for. Best demo on caulk I have ever seen. Thanks. I just purchase the OSI Quad Max (black & white tube) shown in your video as water based, however on the tube it says to clean up with mineral spirits. Can you explain? thanks

Thanks for watching You are correct. My first time using quad max was in the video. And it didn’t have much of a odor and I was able to clean my finger with a wet rag so I assumed it was water cleanup however it’s almost in a class of its own as a “Silane Modified Polymer” which is different from Polyurethane “regular oil” and different from the “urethanized elastomeric” like tower tech but after a long day of caulking mineral spirits are going to clean up your hands the fastest.

I am at hd buying some and noticed the clean up with mineral spirits. I'll give it a shot with soap and water and see how it works.

Please include Dynaflex 230 if you do a part 2. The Dynaflex Ultra gets bad reviews while the 230 seems to be universally loved.

I have a friend that loves the 230 however he said that they’ve recently re-formulated it and it’s a lot thinner now. I can’t confirm but trust him. But I would have included it in the video but they did not have any at Home Depot when I swung by to purchase only the ultra. I may do another round in the future and will make sure to include the 230

Hey Kevin, do you ever use a color match caulking?

Cole I have not but I’ve seen a few new products promoting color match caulking I would just worry about the quality. Would love to put them to the test

Are you possibly missing the point of caulk? Caulk is not glue its design is to allow components to move based on temperature. When doing siding and trim work you leave a gap for caulk. As temperature changes the caulk allows for a good seal but allows for wood movement.

I own a paint Buisness in Oregon where it rains constantly. The main purpose for caulk here is to keep water from leaking past the windows and siding. When the home expands and contracts this will cause the caulking to tear leading to more water intrusion. So the point of this experiment was to find out which caulking would hold two pieces of wood together without tearing thus being the best caulking to keep water out of the walls of your home. Which is a real problem here as it leads to black mold, dry rot ect.
