This is the green lion, symbolised the Qing dynasty. To fight a green lion means to fight against Qing dynasty. The green lions are usually performed by the southern martial arts practitioners, especially the Wuzu sect.....

Hakka Lion dance. A rarity indeed!!
Ironic.despite the Hakka Chinese diaspora being thr most widespread all over the world.
I think it's not as well known because it doesn't have aerial acrobatic displays and the lion head not as "appealing " as the more well known Sourthern lion

This is not a hakka lion, I am a hakka myself so I know, a hakka lion's face is more box like and it's considered the highest ranking among all lions, the video is showing a hokkien green lion, sometimes refer to as the "ghost king lion" as his face looks like a demon, this lion is also considered a king

Thank you for posting this! It's so rare to see the green lion now. My grandfather used to be part of a green lion troupe in Singapore, but I don't think they perform much anymore.
