Extremely valuable information. Seeing the anatomy underneath adds to the compassion I have for this vessel of mine. It has solidified for me why one should honour the limitations of the body. Thank you!!
A good tip for anyone starting out in yoga. Do what you can and don't push your body past what is comfortable. Your body will gradually open up and allow you to do the poses in time.
No not true! If you don't have the exact proportions, pelvis shape and hypermobility that a lot of the poses require, time will make no difference. We need to stop selling this lie
@@chellep7463 I think she’s talking about working your way up to the full stretch. Form can be achieved without reaching the full stretch. Form is always a given. The point is to work your way up to the full stretch and to not push is - WHILE MAINTAINING FORM. The endgame is to NOT F YOURSELF UP. 😂 Remember the original yogis practiced throughout their lifetimes.
Sounds like you’re a quitter. Stop making excuses and take your practice more seriously and you will see results. I thought at someone over 6 foot I’d never be flexible but now I can put my food behind my head
This video has literally helped me to reverse months of hip pain in just a few days. It’s so valuable to know how to do these poses correctly, and this is just perfect
I always wondered why I couldn't keep my knee at a 90° angle without it wanting to fold back 🤦 I just tried it while focusing on the femur rotation and keeping my knee very bent... I feel it now. These videos are great and I would love to see more!
Just found this. I’m77 and do yoga every day. This is a pose I have been doing every day because of piriformis problems and it helped immensely. I appreciate the detailed mechanics of it.
Thank you for this video! I find myself sometimes experiencing a bit of knee pain when I’m doing the pigeon pose, now I understand why and how to avoid it.

Great video, great explanation. I'll be sharing this with my clients. Proper posture and listening to the body is most important for prevention and long term health and wellness.
Does anybody out there remember what it felt like as a kid receiving a still wrapped-up present ? Well - that is what I felt like today..... Thankyou. For all of your videos.👍👍
I really enjoyed the explanation as to what happens to the body during these motions. I wish yoga practitioners would explain in more depth. Some of their warnings are a little vague.
Merci.

Absolutely valuable clear and extremely well formulated explanation. Highly appreciate the graphic demonstration that accompanied your explanations. Outstanding professional tips. The best video of all! Thanks ❤❤👏🙏
I have a question. I did what I wasn't supposed to do. The damage is done. I did exactly what you said about knee rotation. This happened in Sept 2020 and I have been going to the physio. Close to a year and thousands dollars later, I still struggle. What is the best way to fix it?
So sorry to hear about your knee. I injured my knee with a poorly suited kettlebell exercise and continue to pay the price. I hope you have since found some answers and relief.
Thank you for posting it's very helpful! Although I quite often wonder where the names for many poses comes from, let's be honest I have never seen a pigeon do something like this 😅
@@callarati 😅 that's what I think about when I'm doing new poses - where does it come from/where's the logic and then I started to laugh and usually end up on my face
Funnily enough pigeon may cause si joint pain. This Asana requires the sacrum to be in two anatomical positions at the same time which it doesn't naturally do. It can't nutate and counter nutate simultaneously

@@SophieTherese-re1zb it depends on your situation but i will say that its likely deep lunges and the couch front hip flexor stretch that are tight from sitting. Just get down and start moving your legs in a circle around you and slowly move into the tightness.

Bc carefully over doing pigeon. It targets the deep six muscles, not the glutes like people think. Your deep six muscles are your stabilisers and too much stretching statically will ultimately switch them off, not what you want. Add some activation stuff first before static
Im trying to figure out why I can do this pose no problem but getting myself to do a primal squat is awkward and can only do it with lifted heels. My balance is whack too in that position
It might be that you have reduced range of motion in your ankles limiting your squat. Try working on some ankle mobility exercises and releasing the muscles in your calf to see if that helps.
