The woman in the video is Livia Zita, King Diamond’s wife. She does backing vocals and harmonies. Even at nearly 65 years old, King hits those high notes like he did back in the day. He’s an incredible vocalist.

King Diamond is like a good wine, he just get's better with age. Most of his albums are one story per album, from start to finish a nice little ghost-story. Just listening one song is like opening a book from random point, you need to listen to the whole album. And somehow the Grannies found one of the few songs that is not part of a bigger story. Keep on rocking \m/ .

What I also love about KD is that he writes concept albums: each album is a little horror story. It‘s so good sitting down with the CD or the vinyl, read his liner notes and the lyrics while listening to the full album.

That’s really cool! I only recently found out about King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, as I’ve been searching for new bands to love, and I asked my dad (who was also born in 1970) if he listened to them, but he said he hadn’t heard of them before, and my mom said the same. And neither my parents nor either set of grandparents had heard of Coven, either.
I’ve gotten really into the occult rock revival-that’s how I found out about King and Coven. Have you been interested in that? Many people know of the band Ghost, but I prefer some of the lesser-known bands in the movement, like Blood Ceremony (who toured with Ghost in 2012), Jess and the Ancient Ones (who King Diamond brought on tour with him in 2014), Lucifer, The Oath, and Twin Temple (who opened a show for Ghost last year).
King Diamond's makeup and overall look has changed and evolved over the years.
Some other King Diamond songs: "Abigail", "Sleepless Nights", "Welcome Home", and "The Family Ghost"
Also, some of his work with Mercyful Fate "Melissa" or "The Oath"

I'm a huge King Diamond fan. With his octave range, don't know if he can still do it, but he used to be able to hit all 88 notes on a piano with his voice. Met him in The House of Blues in Chicago years ago. A really swell laid back guy. I was in college and dipped out of my favorite class to get to his show. A true legend in the music industry.

King's mic cross is made from real human leg bones. he has changed his make-up constantly over the years. Gene Simmons tried to sue him once because their make-up was supposedly too similar. Also, the back-up singer is his wife Livia. She helps with vocal harmonies only as he has no trouble hitting those notes on his own, and his voice seems to be better now than ever. I saw him in concert last year and it was the best show ever and he didnt miss a note.

King Diamond! My uncle was a crazy fan. I honestly am beyond surprised to find a react of King Diamond. The music was superior. His theatrics were great and his voice is beyond. My grandma used to love his voice.
Well he had to change his make-up because of legal issues, yes Gene from Kiss was behind this as usual, so this is not how he looked like at first, and you have to check out his other band Mercyful Fate, great songs as Time, The Uninvited Guest, Melissa etc. :) as a long time hardcore King Diamond fan I hope that you will hear One Down Two To Go, The Wheelchair, Sleepless Nights or Abigail as well as this one :) \m/

Don't know if anyone answered, but Andy Larocque (guitarist on the right) has been with the band since it's inception and writes most of the music. He's an amazing musician/songwriter, and is one of my inspirations.

Back in high school (late 80s) I was never a King Diamond fan, but I have come to appreciate this band, and his other band Merciful Fate. For the record, he always used mostly black and white face paint, with occasionally extra colors, but the design wasn't always the same.

about thirty years ago I read that gene Simmons, or kiss, sued him, saying his make-up was too similar to theirs, or something, which is complete bull because they didn't even originate that look. they might have popularized it, but not originated. maybe the person who originated couldn't afford to sue kiss, or maybe they were too decent. anyway, king diamond had three studio albums out before he had to change his look, and that's not mentioning his previous work with mercyful fate. gene Simmons? more like greed Simmons.

Kiss has got a pattent on their make-up so it is protected to coppy cats, so when King Diamond came close to Gene's demon face he told King about it so he changed it to avoid being sued.....King Diamond also has a great respect for Gene Simmons.
A better example of Gene’s greed is when he tried to trademark the American Sign Language sign for “I Love You” 🤟 that he wrongly believed was the Sign of the Horns 🤘 which was introduced to the musical world by Jinx Dawson of the ‘60s band Coven. That was just a few years ago.
Can you imagine the greed Gene would have to have, even if he _had_ been the one to come up with it, to try to make people pay him every time they want to say “Rock On” or throw up the Devil’s Horns?
He had that particular make up only on the album "Them" and on the EP The Dark Sides. He changed it before he got the law suite threats from Gene. Before that he had the Mercyful Fate make up.

I consider myself lucky as I get to listen to King Diamond every night at work if I so choose. I will admit to also listening to Iron Maiden, Slayer, Possessed, Anthrax, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Dio, Judas Priest, Meshuggah, Devin Townsend, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, RUSH, Mercyful Fate, Pantera, Primus, Rainbow, and a select few other bands on occasion as well. Love working nightshift because I can jam out all night and just do my work without being hassled... just throw on an album and play it all in one go.. then start another album.

He's very creative and made concept albums with amazingly nailbiting ghost stories that make you listen to the entire album just so you can find out how it all goes down. Abigail and Abigail 2: The Revenge are records that I will always cherish
