    Man, it’s funny. Ian’s personality is much less arrogant when speaking Russian. Body language and mannerisms are a completely different person. Fascinating!

    Great interview. It's nice to hear Ian talk in such a long interview. And the subtitles were of very good quality, so it was better that it was in Russian and he could fully express his thoughts.

    I don't speak Russian, but based on the title Ian is out of touch with the chess playing masses. Classical chess is all we need, and we love the history and lore of the game as well. We have favorite players from the the past, and want to follow current players who play what we play, which is not 960. We can never master opening theory, and even opening names themselves are part of our love for chess. All of that disappears with 960. It has nothing meaningful to add for average players as players, and takes a lot away as fans. It's a great supplement for top GMs, but if they don't play classical we'll spend more time watching the players who do.

    carlsen has been a scourge to classical chess. Let him have his online blitz and his botez sisters. he is ego maniacal controlling too much in chess. Kasparov never disrespected history or classical world championships even if he hand picked Kramnik over Shirov and other non ideal things.

    • @shumbuk4383

      I'm not a Magnus fan but lol about Kasparov...he split the chess world! The 'World Chess Champion' title became a question for the next 16 years...Anand, Kramnik, Kamsky, Shirov, Leko...so many have commented on the negative press because of it.

    • @matgat9404
      @matgat9404 10 месяцев назад

      kasparov admits mistakes were made from 93 but classical chess didnt suffer is my point. We dont need popularity for the sake of turning chess into a joke. But so many tournament organisers are trying to follow the money at the expense of classical chess. Have your pogchamps but don't ruin the format of the classical world championship match. Carlsen is a disease controlling so many tournament organisers these online rapid and blitz events just have no value. The prestige of the world championship cycle must be protected @@shumbuk4383

  • @FAonYoutube

    Nepo clearly suspects Gukesh of something... "He's much better in classical, it's like playing against a computer, his moves are both strong and strange, this mix is always rather odd", he says while smiling... I'm surprised this quote hasn't made any noise in the community. Now that Gukesh has now the Candidates, it resonates even differently. I hope there's nothing in all this of course.
