Wait so they removed the headphone jack in the phones that came out recently to "save space" inside the phone but this truly bezeless phone has a headphone jack 🤔
"at least it's not a notch" You would rather have a bit of extra screen real estate at the top of your 19.x:9 display because.....reasons?? What could that extra real estate possibly be used for? You would rather have a moving part inside of a smartphone because it gets rid of a non intrusive notch. Great logic.
i actually like the notch on my p20 pro. i am affraid of the moving part of the selfi camera. and the notch is really never in the way. and the statusbar is mostly wasted space on android anyway. so why not havving a little notch there for the camera?
Vivo actually did a market survey so they find that in average people use the front camera less than 50 times a WEEK, that already accounts for all the video calls, and loads of selfies, which means there's a lot of people rarely use the front camera but still consider it's useful when needed. So they made sure that the pop-up camera can endure 50,000 times of actuation, that's 50 times every day for 3 years.
Vernon Tauro Let me remind you that Mi's first bezel less phone... Mi Mix was notchless. And that was released a lot before iPhone10. And you should compare Antutu benchmark scores of oppo and vivo phones with other phone. Also the custom os of both oppo and vivo are the worst.
The moving camera concept is just a temporary solution until we can implement under the display. It is a solution I bet people already thought of but only Vivo has the balls the try it out, ignoring the mechanism reliability issues.
k3st what's your explanation about ugly and disproportionate front camera protruding out of top bezel? mi's was much more practical and pleasing to eyes.
they didnt remove the headphone jack just to save space, they removed it so they could sell their lightning bolt adapters and wireless earphones. iphone x is not worth $1000 guys. apple is trash, android is so much better (coming from an ex-iPhone user)
They should really capitalize on that 1. It would get them norteritety in the U.S 2. They wouldn't have to design much software for a U.S version (as Android One is supplied by Google) 3. They don't have to worry much about support because Google gives the Software updates to their Android One phones, and they deem what carriers it works on.
Hey Marques, nice video. I like the look of this phone, and I wish it were coming to the US. To answer your question, yes I will take moving parts on a phone. Why Not? Will it endure day to day use, well that remains to be seen, but at least it's a move in the right direction and at least there is a design team out there trying to figure it out. For me, the notch really didn't show a true push toward innovation or at least an effort. Not hating on apple's design team can do better, not to mention all the other phone companies utilizing this notch design. The industry on a whole can de better, makes it worse to see so many copying this look. This Vivo phone at least shows that they are trying to push the limits and figure it out. So I applaud them for their efforts. It's truly a phone representing the future of tech, at least that is my opinion.
Living Dadly I think the s8 and 9 work pretty well too in terms of the notch... instead of that ugly black bar Samsung tried to make it blend in with the screen.
Sorry count me out. I don't think having a moving part is a good idea looking 2 years down the line of rough usage. This will be a fail much like oppo N1.
Red-Haired Shanks Companies already can do this they’re just wanting to have stuff under the screen instead a of mechanical machine moving the camera that has a chance of breaking.
Samsung so far has refused to dive into the notch era and I love how they've managed it thus far. Brilliant with the S8 and S9. Onus is on them to produce a masterpiece with the S10.
Alexander Rdzen they didn't really need to change much. It's the usual case for a phone going through a two year cycle. The S9 is a slight upgrade over the S8, but a much more worthy upgrade for an S7 user which I'm still happily using to this day. The S10 is set to be brand new.
I agree on that, though still the Vivo is damned impressive. I think Samsung just got caught between cycles with the spec bump (s9) vs the real upgrade S10!
Agreed as an android user I refuse to buy a phone with notch no matter how good it maybe. Cant wait to see features of this phone like the fingerprint scanner in the S10
Mechanical parts WILL FAIL NO MATTER WHAT. but What's the problem, if it fails, you still have the back camera. i'll trade this for a bigger screen 100%
I would want a phone with restractable front camera no matter is it bazelless. Am I the only feel uncomfortable for having a camera looking at your face all the time? dont pretend you know what your phone is doing all the time
Yeah, personally I don't want Samsung to do this. Their design is great as it is, there is nothing wrong with small chins on top and bottom to house sensors, cameras and speakers. I like that Samsung is pretty much the only one that looks like Samsung, especially with curved sides, if they start going the same "all-screen" pr notch direction they'll just get lost in a sea of look alike phones. But the feature is definitely just the screen on your palm, no idea how manufacturers will even differentiate their phones in a couple of years.
Darrin Thorpe Probably spending time, effort and money perfecting/looking for an alternative? I don't think Samsung would do with a temporary solution such as a notch or a moving camera, so expect the same design until we get another jump in design, a la S5 to S6 or S7 to S8. Same goes for Apple and the iPhone X (despite it having a notch). It released alongside the 8 and 8+ to play it safe
BBK/ China should be really proud of themselves for making such cutting edge technology possible along with keeping it original! This is one of the best phones of 2018 so far, Snapdragon 845, 4000mAh battery, and no notch , also still keeps the headphone jack! Good work Vivo, Great work with the video Marques
Just worried about the quality of photo the front camera will take , and what will happen if it breaks but I really liked the phone , I liked the idea of have the front camera hidden instead of having a notch for it. It's a great phone .
Kusakabe Mirai and unless you are love taking selfies all the time, you probably you probably don't need a selfie camera on the front of your phone, never once have I used my selfie camera, but that is just me, but I am pretty sure I am not alone
Same here. This is really only a concern for kids and teens who use them a lot. And those folks will buy iphones. So it's a complete non issue. Even if it breaks and you do want it though, there's always the rear camera which is better than any front camera.
Beastly G I don't disagree, but it's still a huge "feature" that will influence buying decisions. Not to mention, front cameras have become a standard feature. That would be like removing automatic windows from a car just because many people used a crank.
There's still always the rear camera, which is a better camera anyway. But no, that's not the same. It's not removing any features, just ever so slightly more prone to an accident which isn't their fault. If you break a phone or a part, that's your fault not theirs. All they can do is try to make something tougher in the event somebody fucks up and drops it which would again be their fault no Vivo's.
There's no way they can only be selling this in China. They're sponsoring the FIFA World Cup and advertising the hell out of THIS phone. You don't do that to sell a phone in a country that isn't even competing
You are forgetting there are 1.2 billion people in China with a massively rising middle class, that’s huge business. The Chinese middle class is probably matched if not higher than the population of USA alone
The beginning of a new smartphone era...90+STB ratio,4000mamp,6,6”,under screen fingerprint,8GB ram, snapdragon 845,the best graphic for games...I joust hope, that their software is good and I don't mean Oreo 8.1
I don't know if this is a sarcasm or what. But if it is a joke I get you bro. But computer still have more ram than phone does.. and.... phone didn't really need those fancy 8gb of ram at this time. It maybe future-proof but you still didn't get the full utilisation of those 8gb of ram at this time. Correct me if I am wrong :)
what we need is a camera so small but still good that it’s in the screen itself, i know were years away from that but i think that’s the future of smartphone cameras
With the draw backs you mentioned of moving parts, I'm glad someone actually tried it and now it's an option we can choose if we want. Great work from them, and very cleaver solution to the problem.
This phone looks so futuristic! I mean like 10 years ago it would've definitely been considered futuristic but even now as well. I'm mainly referring to that fingerprint scanner's animation and the pop-up camera plus the sound it makes. I can see the completely bezelless screens being a thing in just a year or two.
I dont really recall any of the phones of the past with moving parts ever having issues with said moving parts. There's probably a risk of snapping the camera off, but the chances of an accident occurring while the front facing camera is deployed would be fairly minimal I'd imagine. Unless I'm that out of touch that I dont realise how often people are taking selfies these days.
Yes, you are way out of touch on how often these kids take selfies, it's almost all they do on phones these days. And since the camera is out when you are awkwardly holding the phone regardless of a selfie or regular photo, it is very much going to get damaged.
Stereo Speakers, good front camera, GOOD AUDIO when listening to people on a call (What phones are used to as well you know) & FaceID > Big ass Bottom Chin
Brawndo everything is true except face id cuz calling it the future is the biggest scam in mankind, 'big ass chin' stop being delusional, the chin is still way smaller than that huge ass notch if youre not blind, plus iphone x has the biggest side bezels compared to other bezeless phones with smaller screen to body ratio compared to the vivo, so it explains all
Cheong Keng Seng, No, turn the iPhone X upside down, and you'll notice that the Vivo chin occupies more volume on that particular part of the phone. And FaceID is actually working freaking fine. I currently own: Note 8 (Both Exynos Dual Sim and SD835), Pixel 2 XL, S9+, Mi Mix 2S, iPhone X, so I'm not biased. FaceID just works..
Thank you for making all the videos . I always loved your videos never disliked no RUclips's video is better than you your the only one who can make it better than anyone
It's your mic or something else. But you've the best sound in the videos in RUclips. Great vocal and great bass. I don't know what happened to other's videos in terms of sound. But yours are just awesome
MKBHD did not test the earpiece call quality. I think that's the point of the original comment. It doesn't matter what terminology was used for the underlying tech. How good is it vs a traditional earpiece?
To elaborate on what the other two said... There is a piezoelectric motor/speaker under the screen, which vibrates the screen to create sound. It was previously used in the Sharp Aquos Crystal and Xiaomi Mi Mix, not much innovating rly. In my experience it sounds better than an actual earpiece and you can put your ear anywhere on the front glass to hear it. I'm genuinely confused as to why all phones haven't had this for years.
I am not sure of the quality of the piezoelectric speaker on this one, but a couple of years ago xiaomi had the same tech in one of their phones. The downside was that the sound could be heard across the room. Little privacy for phone calls! Not sure how this phone stands, though!
Yup! Gimme screen... Soon enough there will be a behind screen camera like the fingerprint scanner. Don't ask me how, I'm not sure. Just like the fingerprint scanner. Don't know how. They figured that out and can figure out the camera thing too.
TRY to HELP you samsung is working on a transparent amoled panel so the camera is underneath the screen and when the camera is needed the pixels where the front camera is turns off and you can use the front camera
Let's just say that it should be already possible...kinda. You can cut the lcd/OLED panel and put a camera module there, without filling the entire space around the cut (the concept idea of the Notch)... The thing is that you would have a small black circle in your phone, unless they find a way to make a transparent display, so with an Oled panel when they turn off the display they actually make it transparent enough to let the module be able to see through and take a picture. Also with a transparent display you could do the trick of letting the display when turned off show the internals of the phone
I don’t understand why people are so much obsessed with headphone!!! Every time I am struggling to untangle the headphone and every time i am wondering why people are so reluctant to adopt the change for a good reason!!!!
People who seem to complain about the mechanical part and its durability are the people that change their phone atleast once a year. Trust me that camera would outlive the lifespan of the phone in terms of switching to a new one or software compatibility.
That statement makes no sense, why would people that change their phone care if the camera has a long lifespan? I always buy used phones and for me personally it would matter if the durability is great or not.
azthek31511 I could consumers being confident their phone will last those 1-2 years as something important... If it has a long lifespan it shows the product is probably more durable as well. Very important because more durable phones stand up to abuse better obviously
First Apple will take the notch away like it's a new feature. Then, call the camera Face-lift, show zoomed-up shots and then have someone with a British accent explain how the basic concept of a rotating motor works inside a phone. Wahala, iPhone XV.
Alphonzo überluste - Overrated you mean. The chin on that phone is bigger than the iPhone X notch, bezel are not the same size all around, and it pretty much looks like a Xiaomi Mi Mix, that did it 2 years ago, in 2016.
I would love this phone. Personally I don't mind the front facing camera Coz I've only used mine maybe 5 times this past year. The waterproofing may be a problem especially coz I'm assuming this phone isn't cheap but overall I think Vivo have a great future
Not a word was said about the non existent ear speaker and the fact that Vivo makes sounds by vibrations under the screen. Amazing how you overlooked such an amazing inovation.
This really isn’t very innovative. Any phone company can do this really, they just choose not to do they can have features in the notch like a speaker, camera etc. to make for a better phone.
Tom Adams bullshit, phone companies have the notch on purpose. That purpose is to later bring out phones without the notch so people with a nothphone will buy the non-notchphone because people think that company is innovative while it's not
What i mean is that theres no soul to electric cars. The reason not a lot of people like electric cars is because theres no sound. You also cant really build electric motors like a combustion engine. Probably the biggest factor of car culture being a thing is tuning, for example. Not to mention the sound. I also did say theyre fun, in terms of all the torque coming in all at once
This is not only the best looking smartphone on the Android platform but it actually looks better than the iPhone X. Unbelievable design and specs. Going to get one!
*Yes!* Vivo please bring this to North America. Markus not one of your greatest reviews, you didn't mention anything about the speaker or the sensors bro.
I'd be buying it so hard! Only thing I'd prefer is, if the front camera was manually operated, so that you can push it in a tiny bit to release it and then push it in to put it away. (I hope you get what I mean^^)
The "i" stands for "imitiation" 😁. But still, if this phone will be priced way cheaper than flagship OnePlus devices, I would definitely get on as a backup phone. And put Nova launcher on top of it.
They should have had the rear cameras on a flip hinge so you can flip them to take a selfie. This could be used to take crisp selfies and less motorization.
Lelouch Yagami well my point is that it would reduce the cost for the phone as they can focus on one set of cameras and less motized parts. So a replacement wouldn't require the opening of the whole phone.
pc_da_ one_84 I know that phone but that has massive bezels and it isn't a true flagship phone it is more like a show run to prove the concept of a two screen phone. But having a small module that holds the rear camera unit that flips over like the hinges of the axon would be great
what you mean? so then why people get hyped for a phone that is only 5% better screen to body ratio than the iPhone but it doesn't have stereo speakers, it has an awkward camera, doesn't have really good specs like fastest phone , best camera, best battery, best quality display or best OS experience but wait it has a fingerprint reader underneath the display, bravo!.
sebastian castellanos because this is a huge innovation. Idk about you but a notch doesnt seem that innovative. And phones get faster and faster every year so it doesnt even matter. Unless you use VR everyday. You probably wont even notice about the best display
Yeah it's insane that they outdid Apple so bad, but then copied that awful kiddie crayon looking ios. Shame! I mean we can always easily flash that away because it's android, but still.
It's the kernel. The kernel is the interface that lets Android access the camera motor. You can just pop it open with a command or a button if you make some basic app in Android Studio.
Michael T.T One should always consider the structural integrity of the hardware. What do you think will have a higher risk of breaking.. a camera build underneath a glass and metal body or one that protrudes outward from one foundation of support.
Yeah, no shit. No one *plans* on droppping their device, it's an accident. I'm simply speculating on the severity of the outcome in regards to the moving part.
Cranking All Day Apple could do that easily, but they want to wait for the technology to evolve so the implementation is not half baked. Remember Touch ID is much much safer than many of the android fingerprint sensors, which is why it’s slower. The face scanning on one plus 5t can be fooled with a picture
I love how everyone finds something to complain like the chin at the bottom of this phone (or most other android phones like the one plus 6 and such) and how apple is able to fix that and then there are those that still can't get over the fact that Apple has put the notch and removed the headphone jack (like many others did) but this phone fixed those. Come on I know this type of "complaint" is what's keeping phones to get so much better in such a short time but think realistically, this phone already costs above 700$ do you want this to cost as much as an iPhone (to get rid of the chin) only to be able to complain about the price? a company with many people working for it solved things out better than you did with your wish-thinking so chill down and if you are not happy wait a year or such more and you might get "your perfect phone" that you won't end up buying because of reasons...
Kaan Kaya well I'm complaining about too small of bezels. I don't understand this no bezel craze. How do you practically hold it? And when you do, you finger print the hell out the edges. I think the whole no bezel thing is just a stupid craze but normal people won't like it. Plus it's fragile as hell. And who gives a fuck about a front facing camera, we are already in an age where people are too self obsessed. We don't need to further enable self obsession with stupid selfie cameras.
I very much agree. There is no way to make the perfect phone and still keep it under a popular, reasonable price. I'm sick of people complaining about this and that. High end phones have still proven that there are things to be desired in a mobile device and they are charging 800-1100 sum dollars. We are in the age age technology, yes, but there are still functions and features that have yet to be designed... And even so, everything comes at a cost, whether that's the price or the amount of features that are lacking. Come on people, GET REAL!!!
I still dont understand if there is a no- chin phone how will someone rest it on one hand usage? A small chin is important otherwise there would be no space to rest your fingers on..
Anon 1 so shoving a mechanical part which is way more prone to failing and losing the water resistance is innovative? But actually working on the tech to make the camera under the screen is not...keep in mind apple does have the patent for a camera under the screen but it’s obviously not ready to be on the market
Wait so they removed the headphone jack in the phones that came out recently to "save space" inside the phone but this truly bezeless phone has a headphone jack 🤔
Rohit Govindan but no taptic engine
Not only that. But a retractable camera and 4000mha battery.
likely due to the thickness added by the sliding Selfie cam
It's haptic you fools!
I couldn't have said it better. Thank you! I use the U11 and I'm sick and tired of the dingle.
apple could try to make a pop-up headphone jack :D
Jose Ruiz lmao haha😂😂
What? It'd be completely useless, you can perfectly put headphone jack in all phones if we're talking about space.
Diego Kausel you must be fun at parties.
TohinArashi Nono, but only when apple does it, it would be revolutionary. Might even add Atmos!
Apple is removing the lightning port on the iPhone for wireless charging
reason it will never go to the US, NSA hate that hidden front facing camera
xs3tsunax the US also probably has trust issues with Chinese brands since they might be sending information to the Chinese government
Ethan Liu well, which one is worst? Getting screwed by other people government or your own? Your pick...
The world have trust issues with US because your online activities are all send back to NSA.. lol
Ethan Liu US government is spying via apple
Ohhh damn🤣🤣🤣🤣
now this is something to copy and improve , at least it's not a notch.
Amine Aboutalib lol
Yeah, that’s why you can’t make selfies with that phone. You are so dumb.
Stew hence the "and Improve" part , Thank you.
i actually like the notch on my p20 pro. i am affraid of the moving part of the selfi camera. and the notch is really never in the way. and the statusbar is mostly wasted space on android anyway. so why not havving a little notch there for the camera?
When Apple does it, it will be called "for the first time ever in an iPhone".
Origamics and then flaunting animoji as a "feature" for the phone
apao vergara your English is flawed. BTW, the comment he made was sarcastic, which you obviously couldn't get, because English man! English
Teoh Yi Chie Well isn't that kinda true?
"The best iPhone we've ever made!"
Yeah and that statement would be 100% correct.. lol
I don't mind that from facing camera. This phone is awesome!
I wouldnt even need one
Chrissel L same
I personally think its a bonus since they cant monitor you while its closed. Pretty damn cool.
Yea until it stops working
50,000 actuations...the phone will already be broken or become obsolete as a whole before that even happen
Apple gets inspired *removes front camera*.....
xXDhruvXx LOOOOL😭😂
xXDhruvXx my real names dhruv
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
they remove the front camera & call it "Bravery". Later on saying they need more space & introduce a wireless front camera.
At least I will know if the NSA is spying on me :D
redbeam_ if they adopted what you just said as their concept then everybody is buying this phone
+Truaent Nation
Oh please, not everyone values their privacy that much. Their sales might increase by 5% at best
redbeam_ haha your watching porn on your phone and the camera sneaks up.... LOL.
James Nguyen you clearly have no idea how paranoid the average black person is about the Feds and NSA
Isaac Rowley yeah 😄
There's actually a lot of consumers who don't take selfies, like myself. The popup cam is a non issue.
Vivo actually did a market survey so they find that in average people use the front camera less than 50 times a WEEK, that already accounts for all the video calls, and loads of selfies, which means there's a lot of people rarely use the front camera but still consider it's useful when needed. So they made sure that the pop-up camera can endure 50,000 times of actuation, that's 50 times every day for 3 years.
wow. Doing market research too. Starting to respect this company even more
same here, barely 1 or 2 per month
What about face unlock? I find it incredibly useful on my OnePlus
I'm with you. I rarely take selfies. I think the pop-up camera is pretty cool though.
Yep this is how bad we hate the notch. Well done Vivo🔥
Here in my country vivo has sold their products for a long time, and they have "questionable" reputation, so....
Lover Of Tech Agreed.
Shawn Orjiakor 👏🏿
Christyandi K But it still a great improve not only for vivo but also for all Chinese factory, and it totally changed my impression to vivo.
* you
*This front camera is also great for privacy*
RevelDevil I can’t imagine anyone why cares about their privacy would buy a Chinese Android phone
kekchan biggest fan this is different than the other
kekchan biggest fan apple iphones are made in China too😂 idk Microsoft tho
Security, too.
kekchan biggest fan, most phones are Made in China now, including iPhones, so you can't get away from that really.
True
The notch has to go. It’s inevitable.
full screen is coming
So does that chin.
Give us all screen apple. Fuck ur Face ID
Notch shoud've never been a thing.
2BLESSED apple will keep it. Because Apple
I thought you would review the goal-line technology in this world cup season.
TopGuy360 KENYA 😂😂😂
Ill do it for you: sensors
Youre welcome ^^
He is American. They don't know shit about football
After today's game (Spain vs Portugal), it would make more sense 😅👌
Red-Haired Shanks He gives a shit about football. He doesn't give a shit about soccer
As much as you may hate Vivo/Oppo, their innovation is on another level, they made notches disappear.
Vernon Tauro but their UI, choice of hardware literally sucks.
Vernon Tauro
Let me remind you that Mi's first bezel less phone... Mi Mix was notchless. And that was released a lot before iPhone10. And you should compare Antutu benchmark scores of oppo and vivo phones with other phone. Also the custom os of both oppo and vivo are the worst.
but its not as bezel-less as this, mi mix has their front facing cam below, which adds another thick border
Sci-Fi front facing sound effects is soooo legit.
*Just you wait, apple will adopt that in 5 years* 😂😂😂
They will "invent" it LOL
And its fangirls will call it innovation.
@@lordmasterization or simply fans
sorry its going to 9999$ nothing more nothing less
first time ever in a smartphone. best iPhone we have ever created.
Hey apple did you see it has a Headphone jack.
they didnt remove the headphone jack just to save space, they removed it so they could sell their lightning bolt adapters and wireless earphones. iphone x is not worth $1000 guys. apple is trash, android is so much better (coming from an ex-iPhone user)
Akhil Soman welcome to the real world
Akhil Soman Hahaha
Hahahah lol😂😂😂
Hey did you hear it was 2018 and we have wireless headphones?
Props to Vivo, This one is Good!
Now only if it were to Have stock android, I'd be sold !
KSW vevo?? 😂😂😂
Vivo*
My bad guys! corrected.
Ugh just imagine stock Android on this, I'm already drooling thinking about it. They should really make an Android one version of this phone
They should really capitalize on that
1. It would get them norteritety in the U.S
2. They wouldn't have to design much software for a U.S version (as Android One is supplied by Google)
3. They don't have to worry much about support because Google gives the Software updates to their Android One phones, and they deem what carriers it works on.
need a jerryrigeverything video to know the slider mechanism....
The world is waiting for rigeverything
Deepanshu jindal it will happen if it hasn't already
I wonder if it is similar to old car Antennas mechanism.
I would love to see a factory tour like One Plus has been doing. Show us the testing process!
They use a jack screw to move the camera, and two metal bars to hold it in place.
Personally I rarely use the front camera, but if it's always depressed the NSA can't see you! 😋 I wish all phones were like this
Jpixta There were no selfie cams... Now because of some gay evolution... There are... They even double up (Samsung Universe A8)
the most impressive feature is the headphone jack
*Triggered*
tarkineWild And dual DAC!
I can't wait for the *Nex-t* version of this
hee hee
Step up for your sticker M8.
It's says *Pun of the week* .
get out

Hey Marques, nice video. I like the look of this phone, and I wish it were coming to the US. To answer your question, yes I will take moving parts on a phone.

Living Dadly agreed 🙏
So agree let's start listening to the Consumer not what the Company wants.👍
Living Dadly I think the s8 and 9 work pretty well too in terms of the notch... instead of that ugly black bar Samsung tried to make it blend in with the screen.
Sorry count me out. I don't think having a moving part is a good idea looking 2 years down the line of rough usage. This will be a fail much like oppo N1.
Amox was about to mention oppo
I would consider it over a phone with a notch, that's for sure. And also they have the headphone jack. I call this courage. ❤️
BillNepill yea.. tottaly agree..its promising for the future... hope it dosnt disapere
BillNepill Vivo is pretty popular here in India.. so removing the headphone jack would affect their sales in India
What is that notchphobia?
Yeah, it takes a lot of courage to make a phone with a stupid retractable camera.
THIS is innovation. The notch has got to go
so does the chin
moivaanmoi Yeah, but not as much as the Notch. I just hate it 😂
Red-Haired Shanks Companies already can do this they’re just wanting to have stuff under the screen instead a of mechanical machine moving the camera that has a chance of breaking.
I’d rather have a notch, people only hate on it because that’s the popular thing to do.
Killer Raspberry no, we hate the notch because its ugly and ruins any device that has one.

Agreed as an android user I refuse to buy a phone with notch no matter how good it maybe. Cant wait to see features of this phone like the fingerprint scanner in the S10
Yes! Vote with your wallet. We've got to get these notches out of office!
Mechanical parts WILL FAIL NO MATTER WHAT.
but What's the problem, if it fails, you still have the back camera. i'll trade this for a bigger screen 100%
non mechanical parts will eventually fail too. what's your point
johnybbb his point is that mechanical parts will fail WAY faster than non mechanical parts
I would want a phone with restractable front camera no matter is it bazelless. Am I the only feel uncomfortable for having a camera looking at your face all the time?
dont pretend you know what your phone is doing all the time
Probably not within 2-4 years when not being abused. Most people have a phone for 2 years, some 4.
I personally almost dont use the selfie Camera at all so I would Love to see the S 10 with it and almost 100% Screen.
Chinese phones nowadays are really making a statement
Vivo is an European Company
@@LordOfChaos.x It's defenetly a Chinese company xD
@@boltmix7294 it originates from EU but an Chinese company bought Vivo

Samsung, the ball is in your court for the Galaxy S10...
Tech Thusiast true, but with Samsung’s limitless money, why didn’t they come up with this first?
Darrin Thorpe they want it to be perfect.. not first
Samsung sells millions, Vivo doesn't. Most smartphone manufacturers have the technology to make it they just can't produce millions of them.
I want to tell you这就是个垃圾,在中国根本就是一群傻逼买的知道吗?超贵的价格全部华仔了,请演员做广告之间时尚,手机本身的质量根本就没得谈芯片垃圾的不能再垃圾,但是价格也依然特别贵,如果你不是资深研究的话,你根本就不懂。

The 2 Chinese guys are saying it's too expensive for normal people in China. That's pretty much the jist of their comments.
How is it cutting edge, it has a chin the same height than the iPhone X notch. The iPhone X has less bezel.
I honestly feel a pop out camera (rare scenarios) is far better than living with a stupid notch all through your phone life. Hence I love this design!
Yeah, exactly. You look at the phone's screen whenever you use it, but you only need the camera when you takes a selfie.
Just worried about the quality of photo the front camera will take , and what will happen if it breaks but I really liked the phone , I liked the idea of have the front camera hidden instead of having a notch for it. It's a great phone .
I'm fine with the pop-up because, so far, I've never taken a selfie.
Kusakabe Mirai and unless you are love taking selfies all the time, you probably you probably don't need a selfie camera on the front of your phone, never once have I used my selfie camera, but that is just me, but I am pretty sure I am not alone
selfie is once in blue moon for me so removing the notch permanently suits me 99.9% of my time with the phone.
I support the mechanical parts as long as they can last at least two years
50,000 times usage, alleged.
Fuck that.
Seeing that camera and trying to remember when was the last time I used selfie camera(except for testing quality when got it)
Karlo Josip Kardum yeah I only used mine once, when I just bought it

I have take one selfie a camera test with the phone I bought last month.
Vivo went bezel less (notch less😀)but it still has headphone jack 🎧
It’s something to learn
There's no way they can only be selling this in China. They're sponsoring the FIFA World Cup and advertising the hell out of THIS phone. You don't do that to sell a phone in a country that isn't even competing
1, China has good socker fan poplation, 2, The competition within China is world class, you have more major players in China than in the US.
China is the most competitive market for phone. More than 450 million phones were sold in 2017 alone. That includes 70 million vivo phone.
You are forgetting there are 1.2 billion people in China with a massively rising middle class, that’s huge business. The Chinese middle class is probably matched if not higher than the population of USA alone

If Apple does this, people will call it futuristic.
It is futuristic

Yeah this phone will probably have huge historic value. I can already see it having massive influence on future smartphone design.

Loyal Slime never compare cellphone ram to that of a pc
I don't know if this is a sarcasm or what. But if it is a joke I get you bro. But computer still have more ram than phone does.. and.... phone didn't really need those fancy 8gb of ram at this time. It maybe future-proof but you still didn't get the full utilisation of those 8gb of ram at this time. Correct me if I am wrong :)

Still apple will brag about that innovative "notch" 😜
They will put in a retracting front facing camera in their iPhones and call it the iFacing camera and everybody will be like "WOOW SO INNOVATIVE"
Bandhan Jha essential phone was the first
Yeah but at least you can put a screen protector on and the notch has it's use.
I don’t think Apple has ever bragged about the notch. It’s pretty obvious they want it gone as well.
The notch is a "design characteristic"🤣
what we need is a camera so small but still good that it’s in the screen itself, i know were years away from that but i think that’s the future of smartphone cameras
Look how beautiful a phone can be without a *NOTCH*
With the draw backs you mentioned of moving parts, I'm glad someone actually tried it and now it's an option we can choose if we want. Great work from them, and very cleaver solution to the problem.
This phone looks so futuristic! I mean like 10 years ago it would've definitely been considered futuristic but even now as well. I'm mainly referring to that fingerprint scanner's animation and the pop-up camera plus the sound it makes. I can see the completely bezelless screens being a thing in just a year or two.
I like the moving front camera. Very cool feature actually!
Ignyte, don’t you remember how unreliable slider phones were?
What phone are you referring to that had mechanized moving parts?
Yes, you are way out of touch on how often these kids take selfies, it's almost all they do on phones these days. And since the camera is out when you are awkwardly holding the phone regardless of a selfie or regular photo, it is very much going to get damaged.
its like my Sony Ericson slide phone, its ok when everything is ok. Wait till you drop it. I am a victim of moving parts.
Michelle Tan Or when dust or sand gets into it. That's what killed a Sony Ericsson slider and a Nokia slider for me.
Moving camera > Notch
Anyday
Stereo Speakers, good front camera, GOOD AUDIO when listening to people on a call (What phones are used to as well you know) & FaceID > Big ass Bottom Chin
Brawndo 50cm chin > iOS device
JoeRieper no
I am happy that no apps will be able to use my front camera without my knowledge! (if they were doing it till now...)
This is another added benefit i didnt realize!!!
Thank you for making all the videos . I always loved your videos never disliked no RUclips's video is better than you your the only one who can make it better than anyone
VIVO stepping up their game!
We came from bezelless to notchless, great.
*notchn't*
It's your mic or something else. But you've the best sound in the videos in RUclips. Great vocal and great bass. I don't know what happened to other's videos in terms of sound. But yours are just awesome
Nice... But wt about the proximity sensor & earpiece? You just spoke about the camera and finger print scanner..😎
It's "Peizo electric acoustic **I forgot the rest** " for ear piece and Proximity sensor is beneath the display.
Earpiece sound is actually made by screen vibration.
Other sensors are underneath the display.
TRY to HELP you
Transparent OLED display, turn off pixels where the camera is.
TRY to HELP you samsung is working on a transparent amoled panel so the camera is underneath the screen and when the camera is needed the pixels where the front camera is turns off and you can use the front camera
CHIEF UMER lol I thought of that a year ago glad someone's working to its fruition
TRY to HELP you imagine just holding a screen that is also a phone, but basically is just like holding a panel, nothing else in your hand
No notch, yes headphone jack, great specs....what else u need!
vs k not just ordinary 3.5, if it's like on Apex, it's on par with Lg V series. Vivo always use great DAC and amp on their flagships
Vidyut P. Singh it's android not ios....customize it, i would have put nova launcher on it
Great specs really?
5.5 inch screen instead of huge 6.6
I don’t understand why people are so much obsessed with headphone!!! Every time I am struggling to untangle the headphone and every time i am wondering why people are so reluctant to adopt the change for a good reason!!!!
I actually like the idea of the camera being inside because it prevents it from getting dirty or getting smudges.
People who seem to complain about the mechanical part and its durability are the people that change their phone atleast once a year.
Trust me that camera would outlive the lifespan of the phone in terms of switching to a new one or software compatibility.
plus, the camera is pretty much easier to replace/fix than when its embedded inside the phone
That statement makes no sense, why would people that change their phone care if the camera has a long lifespan? I always buy used phones and for me personally it would matter if the durability is great or not.
😂😂😂😂
azthek31511 I could consumers being confident their phone will last those 1-2 years as something important...
If it has a long lifespan it shows the product is probably more durable as well. Very important because more durable phones stand up to abuse better obviously
trstnhn they rated it for 50,000 open\close cycles, and it can withstand a decent amount of force, can't remember how much exactly.
Making everything possible with vivo smartphone and making more interested and looks very good and top up into future trends
First Apple will take the notch away like it's a new feature. Then, call the camera Face-lift, show zoomed-up shots and then have someone with a British accent explain how the basic concept of a rotating motor works inside a phone. Wahala, iPhone XV.
Underrated comment lol
Alphonzo überluste - Overrated you mean. The chin on that phone is bigger than the iPhone X notch, bezel are not the same size all around, and it pretty much looks like a Xiaomi Mi Mix, that did it 2 years ago, in 2016.
That's pretty beast, even though the front camera is moving I love the concept!
Hear that Apple?

Sooooooo, Why should they hear that?
Well done Vivo!! Atleast someone got rid of that annoying notch 😁
sumanta banik why dont people like notches ? On my essential phone it looks pretty cool and unique 😛
Xiaomi did it, 2 years ago.

Amazing how you overlooked such an amazing inovation.

billigerfusel Really? You don't think spacex has taken number 1 spot?
I hope he means in the smartphone world lol
This really isn’t very innovative. Any phone company can do this really, they just choose not to do they can have features in the notch like a speaker, camera etc. to make for a better phone.
Tom Adams bullshit, phone companies have the notch on purpose. That purpose is to later bring out phones without the notch so people with a nothphone will buy the non-notchphone because people think that company is innovative while it's not

Electric cars are fun but boring
Midas Sandahl What's boring about electric? The acceleration? The only thing boring about Tesla is its connection to the boring company.
Tesla is boring? What is GM and Toyota then?
Umm..more boring?
What i mean is that theres no soul to electric cars. The reason not a lot of people like electric cars is because theres no sound. You also cant really build electric motors like a combustion engine. Probably the biggest factor of car culture being a thing is tuning, for example. Not to mention the sound.
I also did say theyre fun, in terms of all the torque coming in all at once

Markus not one of your greatest reviews, you didn't mention anything about the speaker or the sensors bro.
I'd be buying it so hard! Only thing I'd prefer is, if the front camera was manually operated, so that you can push it in a tiny bit to release it and then push it in to put it away. (I hope you get what I mean^^)

Then flash a stock android rom... And you can use ADB to uninstall any app you like without root.
A flip hinge which is controlled by the user is far more susceptible to damage and wear than a motorised system that is controlled by the phone
Lelouch Yagami well my point is that it would reduce the cost for the phone as they can focus on one set of cameras and less motized parts. So a replacement wouldn't require the opening of the whole phone.
With the ZTE Axon M you flip the phone over to take a selfie, search it.
pc_da_ one_84 I know that phone but that has massive bezels and it isn't a true flagship phone it is more like a show run to prove the concept of a two screen phone. But having a small module that holds the rear camera unit that flips over like the hinges of the axon would be great
THOSE NOISES ARE SOOO CUTE!!!
I Don't get why people get so hyped over the new iPhone... THIS is where it's AT. (No Offense to iPhone fans, just doesn't seem right)
what you mean? so then why people get hyped for a phone that is only 5% better screen to body ratio than the iPhone but it doesn't have stereo speakers, it has an awkward camera, doesn't have really good specs like fastest phone , best camera, best battery, best quality display or best OS experience but wait it has a fingerprint reader underneath the display, bravo!.
sebastian castellanos because this is a huge innovation. Idk about you but a notch doesnt seem that innovative. And phones get faster and faster every year so it doesnt even matter. Unless you use VR everyday. You probably wont even notice about the best display
sebastian castellanos uhh the iphone has far from the best battery and camera.
Sure its faster but dont make false claims
It also does not have ths best quality display
Rayyan Khan Exactly what I meant!
For those afraid of hackers, maybe you don't need any tape on the front-facing camera with this phone.🤔🤔
who tf tapes their phone cameras?
Fiasco apparently a lot of people, especially on laptops. Some laptops now come with a thing you slide over the camera while not using it
Especially for deepweb diver.

Pretty blatant and deserved a mention.
Yeah it's insane that they outdid Apple so bad, but then copied that awful kiddie crayon looking ios. Shame! I mean we can always easily flash that away because it's android, but still.
Beastly G honestly, looks worse than ios
Yeah, kinda. And that's a low bar! Chinese companies always use such ridiculous looking icons.

That screen to body ratio is 👌 the future is here!!! What are you doing with that old iMac in the background?
Christopher Lee old? OLD?!
If you can’t include good quality earpiece and make the phone waterproof, that screen size doesn’t matter.
@@thejjzzable you cant have waterproofing on such a phone
if the bootloader can be unlocked i will get this phone
is mostly for improving the stock OS cse i highly doubt a custom rom can popup the camera
U can root by magisk method
Abbas Bhaijibhai Project treble fixes that issue
It's the kernel. The kernel is the interface that lets Android access the camera motor. You can just pop it open with a command or a button if you make some basic app in Android Studio.
Vivo belongs to BK just like Oppo. they don't release kernel source and there is no way to unlock the bootloader. so I recommend to stay away from it!
My next phone!!! Finally the future is here!!!🚩
I love that popup camera so much, it's just so dope and gadgety. Now to have a popup laser cutter next to it.
Until you drop it and it bends
Michael T.T One should always consider the structural integrity of the hardware. What do you think will have a higher risk of breaking.. a camera build underneath a glass and metal body or one that protrudes outward from one foundation of support.
Yeah, no shit. No one *plans* on droppping their device, it's an accident. I'm simply speculating on the severity of the outcome in regards to the moving part.
Given an option between a notched phone and this mechanism, I'll 100% go with this one.
Imagine this with stock Android
🤢🤢🤢
Евгений Мокрушин Yeah fake ios is 🤢🤢🤮🤮
Stock android is boring
Stubbo242 Pure Android would have been very good
ok, but this skin is aids, I think we can agree on that
apple will take three years to get close to this phone.
rupertldn not at all. In screen fingerprint and no notch. This is the most high tech phone out right now
Cranking All Day Apple could do that easily, but they want to wait for the technology to evolve so the implementation is not half baked. Remember Touch ID is much much safer than many of the android fingerprint sensors, which is why it’s slower. The face scanning on one plus 5t can be fooled with a picture
i mean singin is right, apple would never go back to touch id and the display on X looks hot af
gamer games I hope Apple does.
I don’t want a front facing camera which is stuck and won’t move.
rupertldn dude you're clueless about technology if you think that.
Come on I know this type of "complaint" is what's keeping phones to get so much better in such a short time but think realistically, this phone already costs above 700$ do you want this to cost as much as an iPhone (to get rid of the chin) only to be able to complain about the price? a company with many people working for it solved things out better than you did with your wish-thinking so chill down and if you are not happy wait a year or such more and you might get "your perfect phone" that you won't end up buying because of reasons...
its actually even more than 700$ if you consider ppp adjustment.
Oh God... This is exactly what I was thinking too.
The best RUclipsr of all time. Awesome.
Now that's a company that didn't take no shortcuts!
that's the most short, shortcut there is....
Ios clone. Its all about taking shortcuts
Anon 1 so shoving a mechanical part which is way more prone to failing and losing the water resistance is innovative? But actually working on the tech to make the camera under the screen is not...keep in mind apple does have the patent for a camera under the screen but it’s obviously not ready to be on the market
