Yes. I was waiting for MetalliGeek to return! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Please continue! Stay safe Stay metal
yes, please continue!
Am... Hello? Mama Said is a Country song. That's the most sellout song on the album. I like the song but even though the guitars get heavy(ish) towards the end, it goes from country to hard rock ballad not metal. The heaviest part is the intro to Waste My Hate. So frustrating they didn't put the guitar solo in the album for that song though. Also, Escape has mainstream rock vibes in the "out for my own" part.
YES CONTINUE!!!! Metalligeek is one of my favorite things to watch on RUclips. I saw it was a 13 minute video and yelled “YES LONGER VIDEOS ARE BACK”.
I would’ve said that the “sell-out” on Ride the Lightning would’ve been Escape since it was just written because their record label needed the album to have a single
That’s the only time they actually sold out
@@Ranmann86 Yeah, plus it's the song that James hates playing
Fade To Black is pretty pop too though, I'd say they are equal.
@@settratheimperishable4093 like 6 key changes, instrumental chorus, 2 solos, long bridges and instrumental parts. If that's what you call pop
@@Cosmefulanito2812 that doesn't mean it can't be pop, just cause it has more progressive elements.
I hate the term "sell-out". Most people work a job they hate just to get by. These guys make millions and travel the world doing what they love. Who's the sell-out?
Exactly! People will say "because they did music that wasn't thrash" when did they ever say they would only ever do thrash? Haha pretty sure they said early on they didn't want to be pigeonholed Into one genre. They get to make money doing what they love
haters will always hate. the more successful you are the more haters will talk shit
This is a great way to look at it.
They don't love load and reload and st anger, they do that for the stupid bob rock direction
…so you’re literally saying they sold out? Lol
That doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing lol
Missed this series but of course we all understand what you’re unfortunately stuck in right now. Thanks for bringing it back at all my man!
A welcome return of Metalligeek, would love to see and hear it again, but whatever works for you Andriy
Andriy, I think poppy does not necessarily mean slow and romantic. It can be faster but radio catchy, like month into the flame
Moth *
I would love for this to continue Andriy! Especially since you said it felt therapeutic for you to make. I hope things get better for not only you and your family but your country as well, I'm doing my part as best I can!
That Damage intro is fire :))) it's so good to hear you talk about the boys again 🤟
Fight fire with fire intro was perfect for the time. Going from harpsichord right into that riff. Which for the time was just blistering. The contrast was perfect.
I'm really glad this series is back. You look and sound very enthusiastic and energetic. A fresh start 🤘
Hey Andriy - as a musician & metallica fan for 30 years myself, i'd say PLEASE keep doing these videos. I actually bought the Total Guitar Metallica special primarily to read your Input on the Black Album's Anniversary. Your knowledge of the subject matter and of music as a whole is absolutely fantastic, and you manage to be both informative and amusing as you put your thoughts across.
I look forward to seeing more content like this.
I hope the difficulties you're facing will soon come to a peaceful conclusion.
Regards,
Nigel K. Blonde, UK.
I think on MoP Damage Inc. should have been the "anti-sellout". It's fast, it's brutal and the only song on the record to contain swearing 🤔🤘
Also, some CD discs contained warning stciker, that this is the only song, that contained swear words.
If I remember correctly they purposefully added swear words to Damage Inc. so they could get that PW sticker on the album
The damage inc intro as the beginning for the video was perfect. I actually felt nostalgia. I loved the video, keep it going
Am I Savage's breakdown riff is the heaviest part of HTSD.
Agreed. As a whole, that song is not great by any means, but that breakdown is just brutally good, ultimate crunch to it.
And the discography
I'm very happy to see you making these kind of videos again, frrrriend!!
Thank you for bringing this back! I hope it continues!
Great to see this back! Hope you’re doing well!
It's awesome to see this series return after so long
Yes we really need this to continue adriy, I’ve missed this a lot and by the looks of it so have you so yes me as well as many others think you should continue this.
I really really hope this series continues, seeing the upload notification from this video made my day
Love it man. Please continue if you can.
Awesome list! Love how you put all this together! Cheers from Montreal Canada!

I can't believe it man. I just got home from a litteral rally to get the original 1988 European pressing of Justice and as I lay in my bed to sleep so I can go to work tomorrow I see a new metaligeek? A fucking blessing thank you andriy.
Damn I missed these kind of videos glad ur doing them again
Hey man! Good to see you.
Great video Andriy!
Cheers.
🍻
Glad to see this back! I too love over-analyzing my favorite band.
Love to see you again, stay safe brother!
Great to see you back on here again brother
I love Hero of the Day. The soundtrack of my childhood.
Brand new to this channel; fantastic first video to watch!
I liked it! i think it should continue, you can do updates on existing video ideas or just do more elaborate versions of them. I would love to explore Metallicas Live stuff, like which concert did Metallica play the fastest, some say it's in Stockholm 1986 or at least that tour, others say they where better in 89, some others actually praise their recent live performances since the pandemic saying that they hear that the group has been practicing songs and that James vocals had a good rest they where more hungry to play live and had a certain fire on stage around 2021/22 :)
Thats so cool you brought back the same intro really cool bro missed it keep up the metallica videos also have u heard lamb of god?
thank you, we missed you
Continue it I love these vids
welcome back my guy
It's great to see you again Andriy! Really brought back the MetalliGeek vibe that I longed for. Keep it going man, as long as you feel comfortable with it. Don't force yourself to upload, keep it chill.
We're happy to see you speaking of our favorite band again !
lmfao what even is this
Good to see you doing well Andriy. Glad metalligeek is back!
4:16 tickled me. Mostly because I also do not like the memory remains.
Holy s[bass]it!
A new MG from THE Frrriend!
Good luck and save yourself!⭐️
death magnetic is such a great album. I hope kirk finds his riffs for 72 seasons
Andriy is back!!
gr8 list man!!
If you're in the space where you can start making Metallica videos again, it'd be so welcome. I genuinely think you are by far the best Metallica youtuber on the platform. Glad you seem to be doing well
Thank you
OMG I MISSED YOUR VIDEOS
So happy to see a new long-form episode from you, frrrriend! 🇺🇦❤️
Thank you for this video. I love the MetalliGeek videos so much.
Hi Frrrrriend.
I hope you and your family continue to be safe.
Thank you for this video, it makes me want to go listen to our favorite f****ing band from beginning to end all over again.
I truly hope you, your wife, and your kids are reunited, and safe.
I love metallica so i love this podcast. It is the only place my inner metalligeek can come out
For Justice, the most "pop" section is definitely the acoustic intro-outro to To Live is To Die
If you'll continuate with this it would be great!
YESSS METALLIGEEK IS BACK LESSS GOOOII
HE'S BACK 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
thank you for the
FUPFS insert
👊
I wouldn't call Death Magnetic a soup of everything they'd done before. More like a soup of them trying to recreate their 80s era, especially AJFA. Also Mama Said is the clear least heavy song on Load. Another note on that record is Wasting My Hate. Faster song and the verse is angry and quite heavy. Glad you mentioned Struggle Within on TBA. That song is probably the only one that could easily have been on any of their 80s records. I can't believe you didn't mention the Sweet Home Alabama part of the Four Horsemen. Otherwise your picks are solid.
IMO the most "sellout" part on Kill Em All is the chorus of Jump in the Fire. The song also has kind of a disco beat (I don't think they have used this kind of a four on the floor beat in any other song) - one of the most danceable Metallica songs.
You'd be surprised the kind of grooves you can skank out to
Having discovered Metallica around 1987, I was naturally comfortable with their classic thrash metal sound. So when they both slowed down the tempos, and adopted less complex song structures on the Black Album, it sounded a bit underwhelming for me.
But the Black Album is like Master of Puppets 2 compared to the Loads. Apparently they decided they wanted to be grunge. And of course Hetfield wanted to explore his love of outlaw country (which I support wholeheartedly as a fellow country music fan), and Hammett wanted to explore more bluesy rock. But overall, these two albums were very disappointing and forgettable to me.
St. Anger was much harder and heavier than their 90s output. But the downtuning and the production values kept me from really warming up to it.
With Death Magnetic, though, Metallica finally regained their footing as THE thrash metal band. Hearing that they were working with Rick Rubin, the producer for several of Slayer's most epic albums, was just thrilling! The album suffered a bit from compression, a common complaint about Rubin's production technique, but still, I really loved it!
Hardwired was also decent. They did try to incorporate more of the slightly slower tempos that they had experimented with on the Black Album, but the musical chops were sharper and more in line with Metallica's old style, so that wasn't quite as jarring as hearing "Enter Sandman" for the first time.
That's my two cents, anyway.
P.S.
Slava Ukraine! Stay strong and stay safe, my friend!
Metalligeek!!
I miss you and your content too andry,i hope the war soon gonna be end and you start focus to making new content every week
I'm surprised you didn't mention Mama Said!
I think Seek and Destroy main riff is the popiest bit in Kea and Metal Militia as the thrashier
And ain't my bitch is really poppy in my opnion, i'll go with The House That Jack Built
You need to do an episode about the song Metallica did on Garage days. And the merciful fate medley.
I would say mama said is the elast metal song on load since it’s the only song in their catalogue ( I think ) where James strums on a acoustic guitar
Hope stuff is getting better for you and your family, at least a little bit
How is low man's lyric not the least metal on load?
Low Man's Lyric is on ReLoad. I'd say Load's softest song is no doubt Mama Said.
I can’t lie, that part of Orion is the most glorious fucking part of listening to that album. After all that endless blasting kick assery, track after track, and then BAM! Orion kicks in, and just takes you for a glorious ride on the clouds! Absolute fucking genius.
Same with to live is to die on AJFA. Honestly, those albums wouldn’t be as great of a listening experience without those 2 tracks, placed exactly where they are.
11:26
LOL I remember listening to it and wondering "Wait, is this another song?" Then the fastest fucking riff I ever heard at the time came and I really went "What the fuck?"
Not sure how sad but true and to die is to live intro weren’t mentioned honestly
For me on Hardwired...To Self-Destruct most sell-out is a Now That We're Dead. No-brainer.
A beard with no moustache looks literally insane. I can’t think of a worse choice of facial hair
Fast =/= metal
What about Low Man's Lyric on ReLoad? There's no distorted guitars at all, and the main melody is played on a hurdy gurdy.
I'll add The most metal & most "poppy" parts from their New album "72 Seasons":
- The most metal one - "Room of Mirrors" (Or: The title track)
- The most poppy one - "Inamorata" (just because it's almost a ballad)
The heaviest riff on st anger is in sweet amber
Freaking Disposable Heroes!!!!
My least favorite part on kill em all is the weird transition part on no remorse before the last verse.
Ironically although Phantom Lord has the most clean part, the ending is the total opposite and probably the closest Metallica sounded to black metal 😉
Lol 11:30, I remember doing that to my mom, good times
You could probably use this as a therapy of sorts given the situation you’re in. Do some of these every once in a while.
After Metallica put out fade to black lots of thrash metal bands picked up on those type of ballads. testament literally have a song called the balled
Fucking *MetallicA*
Also, I don't like The Memory Remains as well
I have birthday today and my granny gifted me a Cliff Burton shirt. Best birthday ever.
Escape on Ride the lightning is the most sell-out song on that album
THE RETURN OF THE KING
wait... how about Mama Said?
I’d say sad but true is the heaviest on the black album
Mama said from LOAD is literally a country song lol
You domt like the memory remains
I got something to tell you
Nannananannananananana na na náaaaa
a Frank given 3
the onion feeling
There is no way the least "sell-out" (most hardcore metal) on RTL isn't Call of Ktulu
