10-3 his first year as a head coach at any school. 12-2 with a conference title appearance and a NY6 bowl win in his second year compounded by the best recruiting year in the 100+ year history of the program. In his SECOND YEAR! Even if Lanning doesn't get the natty this year, which I'm confident he will, he's 38 years old! He has the potential to have the longevity of Rich Brooks or Mike Bellotti with the on field success of both of them, Chip, Helfrich, and Cristobal combined. Don't be surprised if ten years from now Oregon is a new dynasty and Lanning's name is being compared to, or even surpassing, the likes of Kirby Smart.
Exciting times. I wouldn't call Oregon a favorite for the title this year, but they are certainly good enough to beat the top dogs like UGA, OSU, etc if they play to the standard.
I don’t know how I feel about the comment… Oregon is going to be upping its competition this year, since the PAC 12 is so hard to get through, since everyone plays so different. Whereas, in the Big Ten, everyone plays pretty similar… And from a roster building standpoint… It’s much easier to beat conference opponents when they all recruit for a similar style. That’s why the Big10 and sec is so top heavy with the same teams. They don’t have enough variation in those two leagues to have slip ups like in the pac12. So I actually believe that Oregon is going to have an easier time in the Big Ten… Since we are more built to play Big Ten football… Then to play against the random air raid offense of Washington state, or Arizona states or Arizona In the desert…which was always a difficult places to play for some reason for teams. Unfortunately… Because the recruiting is so difficult in the west… With far less people, teams have to be more creative with slightly smaller players… there are sometimes more athletic… and have a lot more to prove. But Oregon doesn’t have to worry about that anymore… Except for the occasional game, where Oregon State sneaks up on the ducks.
The Ducks will beat Ohio State in 2024. Not worried about Wisconsin. It gets cold in Eugene. Cold and wet, cold and wet snow, or ice. I'd rather play in snow in Wisconsin than 37 and hard rain in Eugene.
@@1st_LONG_CFB There is a hard shift in the weather in Eugene around about mid to late October, so just missing OSU. It's likely to be beautiful blue skies and 60 degrees or so when OSU arrives in Eugene. However, it just might be rainy, cold, and miserable. The rainiest, nastiest game I ever attended was a Duck game versus Cal at Autzen in late September in 2013. (Epic rain. Look that one up on RUclips) You never know. Sometimes seasonal weather arrives early. Either way, I predict fun.
@@1st_LONG_CFB- It could easily be 78F, not a cloud in the sky, and crispy dry, that time of year in Eugene. Would be different if it were in November, but a lot of times the Willamette Valley hasn't really had any rain yet in early and mid October. Summer is the dry season west of the Rockies, and that can persist into October. Worst case, it's like 50F and raining -- well, maybe not worst case, but worse weather than that is somewhat improbable.
@@stevemak8620 I was at that game as well. Total monsoon. Oregon players are conditioner for bad weather. Bo Nix scored 6TDs in the rain against Cal this year.
As a Buckeye fan, I wont be shocked if we lose in Autzen because right now Oregon is a 1 point favorite, but they wont beat us in Indy when it matters. O-H!!
@@bailey7915 If I had to put my money on it, I'd bet Oregon beats OSU in Autzen then OSU beat Oregon in Indy, and there's a real chance we meet again in the semis or nati!!
i feel really good about oregon this year, but i know nobody in the big10 wants to see a pac team win in their first year im this conference. its gonna be a slugfest all year for my duckies. attrition may be a factor
Lanning is not a good in game coach, he got schooled by DeBoer last year. Will he learn from his mistakes or will he turn out to be nothing more than a good DC and recruiter.
Anyone with any familiarity with Oregon and Washington's rosters this year would pick Oregon in a cruel beat-down of the doogs. Also, Oregon stole UW's best corner. 😊
Huskies lost 21 of 22 starters. Jedd Fisch is a solid coach but you don't pull off that kind of rebuild overnight. Even at Arizona he did leave with a 10-3 record but he also went 1-11 his first year there and only 5-7 the year after. The Fuskies are about to be put back in their place and I can see another 12 win streak in Oregon's future with Lanning's juggernaut rolling.

As a die hard Oregon fan since the 80s, my answer is….idk.
Lanning is building a monster at Oregon but it will be a wait and see for me this year.

With OSU being a 1.5 fav currently, i sure hope we have a reliable Kicker and Lanning actually uses him😅
No doubt!

Buckeyes detest poor outdoor conditions. They will cry about it if the weather is bad.

@stevemak8620 Yep. Buckets of water were thrown right at kickoff. The Ducks didn't seem to mind. Goff got pulled and Oregon dominated!
Not yet, still gotta a ways to go. The new quarterbacks don't look like contenders so far.
Lanning is a third year coach, learning on the job. Mistakes are to be expected. I feel that he will try not to make the same mistake twice.

As a baseline, home field is an automatic 1.5 to 2 points. I won’t be surprised if OSU becomes the favorite before this game kicks off.
@@armandopena2906 You're probably right because this fanbase always moves the line, and we'll probably mercy rule every team before we play Oregon lol

Won by 30 @#12Utah, won by 30 against #16OregonSt, won by 40 against 13-0 #12Liberty, and their starters held Colorado to 30 yards
Lanning was a little greedy but also couldn't trust the kicker.
No
Oregon will struggle in the Big 10 by their standards. They will lose 2 or 3 games. The Huskies have their number!
The huskies lost a lot of people! 😅
You sound dumb fam 😂😂😂
