What happens when that short piece runs out, the free end you keep looping through? Its only 4-5" long. Doesn't it need to be a few feet long to make it all the way around?

I lost my needle for this awl,, please tell which replacement needle should I use, please give specifications ? Its hard to ask for in shop without specification ?

Every awl ive ever had in 25 years of leather repair/alterations, every awl can screw tight enough to use any sewing machine needle. If you want to leave smaller holes in a project that does not tighten back up ie leather. Use the smallest needle possible.
