Botanical Name:- Bactrocera correcta.
DAMAGE SYMPTOMS:-
Adults and maggots puncture into semi-ripe fruits.
Destruction of liquid and brownish rotten patches with bad smelling on fruits.
Dropping of fruits.
IDENTIFICATION
Egg: Egg is very small, white, cylindrical and rounded.
Larvae: Creamish yellow apodous maggots.
Pupa: Ranges in color from dull red or brownish yellow. Pupation occurs in the soil.
Adult: Reddish brown with transparent wing and yellow legs.
MANAGEMENT:
Collect fallen and infested fruits then buried under the soil or destroyed by keeping in hot water.
Summer ploughing must be needed because expose pupa.
Use Methyl eugenollure traps @ 25nos/hec to monitor and kill adults of fruit fly.
Harvest guavas before they ripen fully.
USE CHEMICAL INSECTICIDE:
Spray Trizaphos 40% EC @ 1 ml/ liter of water.
Spray Dichlorvos 76% EC @ 1.5 ml/ liter of water.
Spray Quinalphos 25% EC @ 2 ml/ liter of water.
Spray Profenofos 50% EC @ 1.5 ml/ liter of water.
Spray Dimethoate 30% EC @ 2 ml/ liter of water.
Spray Fipronil 5% SC @ 1 ml/ liter of water.
Spray Chlorpyriphos 20@ EC @ 2.5 ml/ liter of water.
Spray Acephate 95% SP @ 1.5 gm/ 2 liter of water.
Spray Acephate 25% + Fenvelarate 3% (28% EC) @ 1 ml/ liter of water.
NB: 5 LITERS OF WATER AND 1.5 KG MOLASSES AND TRIAZOPHOS 40% EC 60 ML OF SOLUBLE SMALL CUP HANGING ON THE BRANCHES WILL BE IN DIFFERENT PLACES.THIS MIXTURE CAN BE USED FOR 1 ACRE OF LAND.
