- This roll was one of those Powell recuts that the perfs. were too small, and chain bridges too wide that makes notes jump. Spent a couple hours re-
punching. Almost OK now. This is a new recording - 1/25/11 using different
microphones. Sound is natural now. Will dump & replace all Duo-Arts
in time.
Thanx, for your kind comment, and glad you enjoyed it !
@paulj0557 This is one of my earliest recordings, useing my
30 year old Radio Shack mics that were a lot better than the
camera mic. One of them started to die, so I got a new pair of
Nady mics about in March. That took care of the problem.
Wow! I remember this from Tom And Jerry!
A lovely, evocative walk thru Central Park....beautifully played by Milne. The only thing that sometimes catches me off guard are his sudden changes in tempo, but they are tastefully done. I have a Capitol 88 note roll of this tune pb a female artist that I am spacing on right now...but in any case have always loved the composition especially enchanted by the closing final measures, gorgeous!
Thank you for the comment, enjoy.
Manhattan Serenade is a well-known composition (it has been used, for example, in a Tom and Jerry cartoon), and the sheet music is fairly easy to find online. Try eBay, go to their "musical instruments" section, and then "sheet music and song books". If not, Amazon will have it for sure. It was copyrighted in 1928 so won't be public-domain until 2023.
Great sound!
This is one of my favs also.
@xBcvazx Powell recuts were mostly great after I vac
all the paper punchings and dust from them! Some had
to be re-punched out here and there.
Nice arrangement. Lots of hiss in recording. Have you tried a good condenser mic?
@CelluloidKollarKid Yes, and he did all the arranging from '38 to '41,
before going to QRS.
Do you have sheet music of it?? This is awesome!!
Can I buy it from you or can you tell me where to buy the sheet?
THX for sharing anyway.
Thank you. It's no Steinway, but I like the sound too.
@KrazyKartoonKid I really don't know. You could check
out Google to see if there is any info on it.
bro do u happen to have the sheet version of this piece id b more than grateful if u could send it to me
Most Welcome! Sorry, I have no sheets, only rolls. Best bet is
go to Google, and type in the title, and Sheet Music.
Dinah Shore did IMHO, the best vocal performance of this song ever...
I too
