Terra meeting Riku isn't a continuity error. It happened before Kairi got to the island, and Riku was so young that he wasn't sure if it really happened or not. When she did get there howerever, she was the final proof he needed that there were other worlds out there.

Watching you go from slagging off Aqua to loving her and crying at how tragic her part of the story was probably made my day. Aqua is my favourite character in the whole series and BBS was such an amazing addition to the story but my god was it heartbreaking to experience. Thanks for letting me feel it again

About the "continuity error" you brought up when terra and Riku met, it's actually something that's always been the case. In kh1 we see a flashback of Riku already mentioning he wanted to get off the islands even before Kairi arrived. Kairi simply was the final concrete confirmation for older Riku that there really was more outside the islands. Also, ye the xblade isn't the best design ever, the honor goes to another fused double key in dream drop distance, but the origin of it being based upon the papal symbol of the church of the keys of the kingdom of heaven, 2 crossing keys, golden and silver, is really cool, especially knowing that's the origin of the kingdom keys' designs
He wasn’t holding back, in KH3 Nomura explained that he intentionally doesn’t make the story bosses as hard as secret bosses so players won’t struggle.
The Riku/Terra thing seemed less like a continuity error and more a continuity snarl to me. Riku was only five during that scene and knew Terra for only about a minute without any proof of this strangers words and Kairi coming to the island a year later would’ve been his only proof. In fact it elaborated on a point in KH1. In that game it’s revealed Riku was the intended owner of the keyblade but his corruption led it to be given to Sora. The keyblade inheritence ceremony which is shown in this game explains why Riku knew the keyblade was meant to be his.
It's not a an error that Riku said Kairi is the reason he knew of outside worlds. He had to keep it a secret as Terra told him and Kairi was more of a bonus confirmation.
I’m happy that they made sure to keep the continuity between this and 358/2 Days with Braig/Xigbar. When he sees Xion as Ven and says ‘He always looked at me that way’ and then in this game you show him comment on Ven’s glare. Love that ^^

Riku saying in KH1 that Kairi was the reason he ever thought about leaving the islands ISN'T a continuity error because in that very same game we get the flashback of him and Sora as kids where he tells Sora that they should leave the islands when they grow up. The reason he said that about Kairi is not because he doesn't remember he met Terra as a kid (he does remember), but rather it seems he only said that to tease Sora. Same as every single thing he did at the start of KH1 that involved Kairi; it was always just to tease Sora. In fact, in the scene where the three of them are watching the sunset and he says Kairi was the reason he thought of the outside world, you can see that Sora gives him weird look, as if saying "you freaking liar, you're just trying to make me jealous"

I just figured I'd put this here because I can't think of a better place to put it. I like to compare KH games to different versions of plays, kind of. I'll show this point using Romeo and Juliet and something that is based on it. The mainline KH games are kind of like how Lion King 2 is based on Romeo and Juliet. Still tragic in their own right, but overall still ends on a high note. KH:BBS is Shakespeare's actual play of Romeo and Juliet. It's a big emotional trainwreck that you cannot look away from and basically everyone dies, curtains close, lights come on, and the audience gives a standing ovation.
