      Hey Becca, I’ve repotted my Sansevieria to a bigger pot about 3 months ago,however I find that the pot is too big. Is it ok for me to move to a smaller pot now? Would it survive repotting in such a short period of time.

    I just bought a snake plant over the weekend from my local nursery! How long would you recommend I wait until I repot it? She’s currently in a 6 inch pot and I bought a 7.5 inch for her, just not sure when to move her. Good tips on watering! I’ll make sure to add lots of perlite, charcoal and pumice to my mix when I repot.

    Here in Ontario Canada if you buy one that is only 5 inches tall from the base up. It is $4.99 I use Amazon's food grade (safe for pets and people and plants) dust the top of the soil with Diatomaceous Earth. If you put it in an empty dish soap bottle. You can blow puffs of dust on your plant so it won't be too much, evenly spreads that way too.

    I’m on my 3rd sansevieria, First one, baby moonshine. Watered it once and it rotted a few days later. Then I got a variegated whale fin. Apparently I brought it home with fungus. Cut the main leaf off, trying to propagate it, and hoping the baby leaf will still grow. Today I bought a night owl! This one is clearly very thirsty so hopefully that means I won’t be able to overwater it. It’s too pretty to die

    My snake plant was dying in a dark room so I put it on my north facing porch to introduce it to light, and then it got spider mites so i threw out in the side of the house before it could spread to my other plants. I completely forgot about it and the roots turned crispy and the leaves curled up from lack of water. But guess what, no more spidermites. So I put them in a bucket with some solid and I've been keeping the would moist (not soggy) and after a month there is SO MANY NEW ROOTS. Just keeping it moist so the leaves can uncurl eventually

    Hi Becca! I was wondering if you had any insight on top dressing for plants like a Sansevieria? I want to top dress them but I was wondering if the top dress would hinder the growth of the new pups that grow up from the soil. I not plants will usually find a way to pop out but I didn’t know if top dress would affect that!

    • @BeccaDeLaPlants
      @BeccaDeLaPlants  5 лет назад

      Ive top dressed one of my snake plants since I got it and it never hindered babies from popping up!! I think as long as you loosely pack the top dressing it'll be totally fine.

    I enjoy your videos very much! I am a new subscriber!! You mentioned using mosquito bits as an addition to your soil? I have recently learned to put mosquito bits in water, let them soak in the water for a day or two and then water my plants with it. This is supposed to kill fungus gnat larvae and eggs. I have not tried it yet, but am going to my next watering (currently waiting for all of my plants to completely dry out). Can you please tell me how and why you are using the bits? And what kind of results you are seeing? Thanks!!

    • @BeccaDeLaPlants
      @BeccaDeLaPlants  5 лет назад

      I’ve also heard that but haven’t tried it! I’m using it to kill the larvae in the soil and I’ve seen some success just laying them on top and watering! I will say, hydrogen peroxide mixture worked faster though.

    What are the signs of overwatering vs underwatering?
    I'm asking because one leaf turned yellow. And I'm wondering if I need to water it more or let it remain dry longer. I always wait until soil is completely dry before watering...I've been watering every 3 weeks and it's in low medium light.
    Thanks! 💕

    • @BeccaDeLaPlants
      @BeccaDeLaPlants  5 лет назад

      You might be able to wait even longer than that if it's in a low light situation! Overwatering will cause the leaves to look shriveled up or soggy! I'd suggest buying a moisture meter and sticking it in the soil before you water to make sure it's absolutely dry.
