I am a retired Teacher. I have decided to Ride for the first time in this life. You have made me a believer in the F3. I'll join you; think I'll ride a Spyder for the rest of my life too. Thanks much for your thoughtful input. It means much!
Tiffany Zinman The Spyders have been a Great motivator for more and more Lady Riders to get involved with the Sport and lifestyle of motorcycling! Many more Ladies than Men are concerned about the 'risks & dangers' of riding, and that centers on balancing and 'sliding down' or 'falling over' more than any other factors. And the Spyders are far MORE stable -- with the dual wheels in the Front rather than the Rear -- from tipping over, or "high-siding" in a hard braking situation, as well as the steering physics of 2 large tires 'pushing' against a single smaller front tire compared to a single tire pushing straight ahead with 2 tires in front controlling direction and turning together. I see MANY men and women who are very comfortable with riding their children or grand-children on the back of their Spyders! Also, the F3 sits you lower to the ground, making it easier to get on and off.
You were so right, the F3 is phenomenal!! I had a '13 RS, then tried two wheels on a Suzuki Boulevard M90, and just traded the later for an F3 and it is simply amazing! Once you ride this bike, there is simply nothing better and the engine is so smooth and so fast. Fun, fun, fun bike, highly recommended!!!
I'll be 64 soon, I work out, 200lbs, 5'11. I will never "act my age'. I've had my 2018 HD Ultra Glide for 4 months/2100 miles. I sit too high, it's too heavy. I am putting it up for sale. Once completed, I'm getting one of these Spyder F3's. This time I'll be smarter and get a used one. I just can't get in to the risk factor of dumping a 900 lb bike on a turn - or parking this monster. Great video, Todd. Best one I've seen yet. You should be in equipment sales.
05/22/2015 Todd, Without a doubt, this video of yours is the most thorough, most comprehensive and most informative of all the 50 or so videos on Can Am Spyder's that I've watched over the last 4 or 5 years. It's truly great. The knowledge and flow of your critique is wonderful/excellent. I've learned so much more than all the other videos put together and you have answered a multitude of questions that I've had over the years without my even having to ask. Prior to watching it, I felt certain, that I would buy a three cylinder after they came out this year, but wanted to wait until the second year after most of the bugs get worked out by the company and the aftermarket stuff becomes available. I truly am sold after this video, it eclipses any Can Am Spyder company videos or private videos in it's completeness. Thank you ever so much. Best regards
Thanks for such a great review. I have been shopping the F3S and have had many questions outside of test driving one. you have made me glad i didnt do the 2 wheel or first gen Spyder. you have explained and shared a lot that my dealer hadn't had time to explain. my option choices and thoughts have been clearly answered by the gracious time you and your wife gave us. You and your wife have sold me a Spyder F3S.
Very nice review. As for the pipe I got rid of the 2nd muffler and got a new pipe from Pittbull powersports. This kept the factory exhaust and gave me an awesome sound. It also drops about 50lbs off the bike.
Been on 2 wheels all my life. Rode the rss 7 years ago & was pretty cool fun. Had an accident on my Suzuki 6 months ago and looking forward to a new F3 in 2020. The limited edition is amazing. Great review. Thanks heaps
Hello there, I am so in love of my Can-Am spyder F3. My dream of riding a motorcycle without being afraid of falling because of the 2 wheels has come true. This is a great bike not only comfortable and safe to drive but good in gas mileage and you develop an adventurous spirit. Great video Todd. #comfortableandsafe #adventurous3wheelmotorcycle #canAm
Thanks for the review! I have had 5 street bikes and my last one being the GL1800 Goldwing...and I am REALLY starting to like this Can Am Spyder!! I like the looks of the RT touring version the best so far. I am really glad my wife is showing interest in owning her own too!! It would be great for both of us to own one and go for rides together. I have been so used to having her on the back of my bike it would be cool to see her ride and to get her perspective of how she likes it.
And now, 8 years later, the newer F3 is a completely different bike again... It also reminds me of the current Ryker... that feeling of sitting more "in" the bike rather than "on" it is the principal reason why I bought the F3. The only thing I miss on the newer F3 is the ability to clutch/rev. The lack of that function is a downside for my money. One of the big uses of that feature is when you see critters in the road ahead, on the Harley I can clutch and rev and the sound is unbearable to deer and bears and turkeys and such. Without that ability I added an air horn setup but it isn't quite the same... Great video by the way! Very thorough coverage
Best revue I have ever seen great job :-) I have the 1330 RT-S scene the middle of September and have done over 18000 kms and like you I cant get of it. My girlfriend is only 5.5 feet tail and jumps on it and takes it for a spin. Keep up with your videos as You add things to it
really enjoyed the video. I learned a whole lot about them being a complete rookie at spyders. Being a 30 year old guy with a young family i feel id be a lot safer riding one of these vrs my harley davidson. i worry a lot about not coming home to my family when riding my bike. sure things can happen on a spyder too but going down over a rock ect is eliminated.
+JohnnyRebKy spyder is much more safer then Harley.. and still you can drive like crazy if you want,, security systems will keep eye on you but if you will learn how to trust the bike, it will reward you with back wheel spin, or drive on 2 wheels only :)
I totally agree with you mate that's why I got rid of my 2 wheeler!! Worrying about rocks, gravel & potholes on the road are a thing of the past since I bought my Spyder ... I've never looked back!! ;-)
I rarely watch an entire video or fast forward at least some of it... great job you stayed on point the entire time, never lost interest. I'm in the hunt for a CanAm Spyder for my wife and your video was very informative. I haven't found a video that talked about the differences in models of CanAm like you covered.
not a fan of can ams .. just learning more about them.. This is a legit review.. very solid. Good points talked about and pointing out details... Great job Todd
Great review! Just bought mine the other day, same color and year, just the SE6, had 4 miles on it. Bought in Oklahoma. Dealers are making great deals for this years model 2015. I just ordered my +2 linkage to put it at five since I'm 6'2. I'm just wanting to add USB for charging, I love the bike. I bought the bike, rode around parking lot a few times, then jumped on the highway back home, about 200 miles. The wind was a kicker, but not as bad a I expected. So much safer then 2 wheels. Take care!
Thank you for this review. I use to ride a honda cbr 250 but got in an accident due a idiot driver who was on their mobile phone whilst driving. And now i have a bad back but want to start riding again. I can never hold a 2 wheel bike up again! Then i heard about the can-am spyders and did research on them. and i think they would very beneficial for everyone who have a disability and an accident and injured their back but still love riding.
I know "Safe Motorcycle" is an Oxymoron but, I Really feel safe on My 2016 RTS. It is worth the $$$. Got mine for 24k (sticker was 31k....Bought mid Yr. 2017) I have Not tested it Above 80 mph. @ 55Yrs old & Disabled 9/11 Rescue Worker caught in the collapse of Tower # 2. More surgeries than i want to remember, this is The Perfect Ride for Anyone who can't do the "2 wheels" Any longer. Can Am hit the Market w/perfect timing for aging M/C riders. There is No "Buyer Remorse" Great Informative Video!
I am getting a 2009 Can-Am Spyder (Manual) for my first Can-Am. I have driven cruisers, sportbikes as well. I am excited to get mine this week. I will upgrade at some point, I figure. Watching from Nova Scotia, Canada.
I like your review on the f3 . Been interested in can am' for a while n thinking on making the switch from 2 to 3 wheels . Planning on taking a test ride ... Good review
Great review man! I just test drove the F3s today and it is everything you describe. Wayyyy..... more refined than my wife's 2013 RT. "It Rides like a sports car" You nailed it with that statement. You can now take curves with some speed with confidence, just like you are a part of the machine. It's really quite remarkable. Will you post another video with the new pipe?
Awesome video, great honest reviews. Thank you I am doing some research, and this is definitely on my list, the more I hear about the Can Am Spiders the more I want. I do get for enthusiasts on why this shouldn't be called a bike..but unfortunately in Western Australia we have to get and have our full motorbike license for a year to be able to ride one of these legally.
You need to be salesman for BRP. You made me change my mind from a Ryker to a F3 S Spyder. Went to look at one today and they are all sold out here in Michigan. The salesman said there is a "rumor" that they may change out the engine for less cc's. The 2022 won't be available until August of this year. I guess I have to wait.
I'm no longer on the fence about this. '18 F3S it shall be. Great honest review that BRP should be very happy about. Gonna cost me $25k! 😃 Keeping the VTX 1800 for now....
This answered my questions... have a 2013 rts se5, not sure about upgrading to this but you've convinced me it's worth it... gonna test drive one ... these are all opinions I know but it seems nice, I wasn't sure about the new look although it's different for sure
This video cost me $24,000. Just got my 18 F3S. Absolutely no regrets. It's a true hooligan machine. I laugh like a teenager riding this thing. Sideways half the time. I'm 56 and also ride a VTX 1800f. Father time is undefeated. Buy one.😃
Great review, thank you very much. Just a note on the eco mode, I think one uses it mostly in town and when your on the hwy, you don't use it since your mostly in one gear anyways. Learned that from a chrysler service mechanic.
I want to get one of these AsAp!! Ill probably slap a custom Supercharger or Turbo Kit on mine to give it that extra boost and make it sound that much more better... . .With whistling sounds coming from the exaust that already sounds good! Or a Whine from a Supercharger Belt!! Hell yea!! These thangs can be customized in every way imaginable! Sick Ride Dude, Ive been saving up for mine...Slowly but surely.
Great review -- I ride crusiers and sport bikes but my 2 young boys ( 5 & 7 ) want to come riding with me -- Im looking at getting an F3 just so that its a little safer and more comfortable ride for them .. plus its a really good excuse to get one
I currently own a 2013 Spyder RT-S SE5 - love that bike. However, I will be buying another F3S sometime in the near future, because the F3 really is this awesome! I simply love that bike!
+Manny Echaluce your putting us that have spyders down because we call them bikes. we can call them what we want.if your being condescending there's no reason for it. if you haven't test road one you should. there a new and exciting way to hit the road and enjoy the wind in our face. I for one am disabled .I ant ant ride a 2 wheel bike anymore,so of coarse I am extremely happy canam came out with the spyders. but there cool and for anyone.my dealer told me Harley is actually the number one bike traded for a spyder.and I've heard that on you tube from technicians that work for spyder dealers. they also said 95% of the time they get spyders in for service it's for oil and filter change never have problems with them. it's a great quality machine don't want to be mean about it.just being like a Harley or any other bike owner would be . protective of what we ride .
Great review. Just bought a 2018 F3, love it...where is a good accessory facility. You showed the backrest, what about removable storage backseat and sides. Need a windshield too. Are there upgradable mufflers available for more noise and horsepower. Thx
Four years on, I'm watching this video again. Can-Ams are now available in the country I live in. I'm getting older. This and a light 350/400 cc two-wheeler could well be my future. That rack is superb. I reckon my Ventura Bike-Pack would slot over it. That and the frunk, and I could go anywhere. Do you still own it, Todd? Have you had any issues? First class review.
This is by far the best Can Am video review I've ever seen. I'm buying one later this month! Only thing I'm concerned with is speed and acceleration. I've heard some say it's fast and others say it's slow. One of my friends who owns one said it's not even faster than his Honda civic. He also said the acceleration is about equal to his civic. But I have another friend who owns one and says it's just as fast as his two wheeler. I'm guessing it's somewhere in the middle. Can someone explain the part in the video when he says "this bike is almost too fast"? Also I'd love some feedback! Thanks!
Wonderful, intelligent, unbiased honest review. You did an excellent job. It is great you had the other bikes to compare it with so you know what you are talking about. One question...does it require a lot of maintenance?
good vid. I got tboned by a car back in 2008. I've missed riding a lot, and I've been on the fence about Spyder's since they came out. Maybe this year will be the year
todd thank you for your tall/review.I am a 2 wheel guy for 50 years and I did 1 hr Demo on a 2016 F3 and I was really blown away.. I wanted to ask you to confirm the feeling that I had? I felt so ready to do a 500 mile a day ride, where on my H/D or Valkyrie that 200 miles was a good day.? thank you and I await your comment. I also that about $10K is what I probably would be able top buy one.
Todd, thanks for fast reply and additional valuable insight from your experiences. I will test ride one hopefully later this coming summer when I heal up from a pending surgery to my hand. I'm also going to check out the Piagio MP3 500, another three wheeler but with an articulating front end. Have you you ridden one of those? They don't look anywhere as cool as the Spyder but they do have some interesting engineering.
Great video. I've been looking into getting a Spyder, so I'm doing as much research as possible. How's the maintenance for these vehicles? As much as a bike? And how much work/maintenance can you do yourself?
Nice review. I have been riding two wheelers since 1999. Seriously considering one of these for more stability at stops/low speed stuff, and I like the reverse gear. I like to tour on my Kawasaki Concourse, but I am getting arthritis in my wrists, and looking for a ride that is more upright. Really like the new bagger style spyder. My other option is the BMW 1600 bagger. Not sure yet which way I want to go, but this seems like a more stable option, especially in rain, or a surprise early/late snowfall in Northern Michigan
great review mate. I have to wait til they turn up downunder to test ride. disappointed about the cargo bay though. I got the rs 08 model. 130000km on her and this looks more comfy for long rides
Hey Todd! Thanks so much for your video. YOUR video was the one that put me over the edge to buy one of these. Just picked up my 15' Can-Am red f3-S manual a couple of days ago. What a great review. No one else has done such a thorough hands on review. I absolutely love this thing and am still amazed at its power. I really did make my main decision based on your review. Thanks again! Happy riding. Now as for storage.......or lack of......$1300 for saddle bags? Not gonna happen for the little amount of storage. Can you tow a trailer with this one?
Hi Todd, just wondering if you have had any major problems with your F3?I have been hearing a few problems with the Transmission Output Shaft and Front Sprocket and finding Excess Metal Shavings stuck to the Transmission Side Drain Plug.I'm curious to know if you have had any such problems?I love your review mate, I will look forward to your reply.Cheers mate
+thinkpol Based on the hp to weight ratio the spyders are closer to bikes than cars. I get your point though. ON the other hand I believe a can am is closer to a bike than a scooter.
what about those stand up ecoscooters then? They aren't techically bikes...skateboards. I don't know man I'd rather call a can am a bike rather than a trike. it'd be like saying hey man, I just got this new trike, they'd be like wtf? I guess to each their own. But if someone told me hey man I just got this new bike, and he showed me a scooter i'd punch him in the face. if it was a can am I'd say well, ok that's cool. is this clear for you?
***** No, it's not clear because you're literally changing the definitions of words. The Can Am is a trike, although granted nobody calls them that, but if they were to call them bikes, most actually bike riders would be sure to correct them. Because it's not a bike. Because it's got three wheels. It's a simple concept you seem to be having trouble with. I can't be more clear about this. A scooter has two wheels. It is a bike. That's just a fact, and you can't change facts because you got some unfounded prejudice against scooters. Scooters are closer to motorcycles than Can Ams because they've got two wheels. End of story. If you say otherwise, I'm sorry but you're just an idiot.
First review that I see of the F3 that actually tells me the difference between the F3 and the "traditional" spyder. Nice review. It did confirm that the F3 isn't for me (or for riding my girlfriend). But it doesn't mean I don't like the F3. It feels like a really nice version of the spyder for those looking for a more "bike" experience. Most people I know that tried spyders told me (and I can confirm with my new spyder) that they felt like riding a big quad on asphalt. I think that the difference between the F3 and the RS will get deeper wit hthe years, and that's really nice. Each version have their own personality, and their own public. I'm curious though : the video was in 2015. Are you still riding the F3 ? Have you tried a recent version ?
thx. i'm thinking of one and it's a shootout with the piaggio mp3 500. yes, cost is a great consideration. was cool to know about storage on the can am.
Boxer comparing a mp3 500 is like comparing a Jet Ski {stand up} to a Wave Runner. The comparison is like saying I want to be a Boater so I decided to buy a Water Toy. Yes I rode a mp3 and If I was lookingto buy a scoot than I would be a mp3 500 Dude. True Comment.
Hi I will be taking my motorcycle riding class in March. Everywhere I read people suggest new riders start out with a cheap low power bike until we gain riding experience... In your opinion can I still by the Can Am Spyder F3 for my first bike since it's a 3 wheel or would you recommend that I get gain riding experience before riding a Can Am?
Love the video. I am getting ready to purchase an F3. Can you tell me which windshield you purchased? A route 129 or a blue ridge. Also why did you choose a manual over the semi auto.
AWESOME REVIEW. My last bike was 2016 FZ07 yamaha an i will go in for the F3 now. Your review just nailed it. Thanks bro, once again Great review. how abt heated handle bars ? does it have it?
Like your video and I can't yet till you get the new pipes on . I have been thinking about getting one for some time now . Are they still only making them in Canada or do they have a factory in the states ?
I bought a spyder f3s because of your review I love it sold my street glide for no regrets thanks man!

Very informative and 'rider knowledge' on the F3, Todd mate. The best F3 review I've watched. Thank you.
I have to say I loved the review, lots of great points no fluff but still enjoyable. I’m definitely looking for this bike.

Great review! I'd love to watch it again and count how often you say actual or actually.
This video started it all for me getting into the Can Am Spyder and hopefully I can own one to have fun

I just picked one up a few days ago because of your video. Best review of this bike I have ever seen. I watched it about a dozen times lol
Good job. Still relevant. I’m buying one next month and your review helped.
That whistling bird was funny. You worked right through it though.
Best review I have every seen. Thank you for a very honest and quality reivew! CG

Thinking of getting the F3 or a Slingshot.
But the F3 looks more fun.
Great review. Well spoken, no bs.

Thanks Todd, we are going to get ours next weekend.
Thanks bro. I know this video is old but you helped me make up my mind in 2022. I have a 2013 RSS, Neutron Green. I like it but it's time for a F3!
Excellent review... I am a rookie going to try the can am for the first time and this helped me make up my mind as to which one I should get
Just bought a 2019 spyder f3 se6. Cant wait to ride it on the road!! Thanks for the review
Excellent review. I test drove one today. Because of your review I decided to buy. 2020 version.
I love my 2016 F3 semi automatic! I came from 2 wheels. Great ride and I am more confident!❤
Thanks for the review. I was considering one and I think you have sold me.
I purchased one and im on my way to pick it up thanks for a great revue
This video cost me $24,000. Just got my 18 F3S. Absolutely no regrets. It's a true hooligan machine. I laugh like a teenager riding this thing. Sideways half the time. I'm 56 and also ride a VTX 1800f. Father time is undefeated. Buy one.😃
Congrats on the purchase but quit watching videos or you'll need a second job. lol
Great review, thank you very much. Just a note on the eco mode, I think one uses it mostly in town and when your on the hwy, you don't use it since your mostly in one gear anyways. Learned that from a chrysler service mechanic.
Thanks for the details on this bike compared to the other models. I purchased a 2016 F3-T. Amazing bike.
David, what did you pay for your used 2016?
Excellent video, very informative, great presentation on everything. Good job.
Bikes has 2 wheels hence "Bi" , Trikes has 3 wheels hence "Tri"
+Manny Echaluce grow up pecker head it's a 3 wheel bike . apparently you ride mopeds lol
Yes I ride a moped, and a scooter, not sure where you are coming from? it does not change the fact that Trikes has 3 wheels.
+Manny Echaluce your putting us that have spyders down because we call them bikes. we can call them what we want.if your being condescending there's no reason for it.
if you haven't test road one you should.
there a new and exciting way to hit the road and enjoy the wind in our face.
I for one am disabled .I ant ant ride a 2 wheel bike anymore,so of coarse I am extremely happy canam came out with the spyders.
but there cool and for anyone.my dealer told me Harley is actually the number one bike traded for a spyder.and I've heard that on you tube from technicians that work for spyder dealers.
they also said 95% of the time they get spyders in for service it's for oil and filter change
never have problems with them.
it's a great quality machine
don't want to be mean about it.just being like a Harley or any other bike owner would be . protective of what we ride .
Bi= 2 Tri = 3 Quad = 4 sure call it whatever you want, its the Internet take it with a grain of salt....
Excellent review, thinking of getting one and I think you have just tipped me over the edge.
This is in my future! Thanks for a great review!
The best review iv see yet on a can am
Thanks for that Todd! Are you still riding the same one or have you upgraded to a newer model?
This was an extremely informative review. Thank you!
Great review professional and a gentleman!
I bought an F3 T. A week ago . omg I love it .
Instablaster...
Nice video! Just upgraded my '08 GS to a 2012 RT-S. Would love to test drive the F3 though. I hear the ACE 1330 is fantastic in the new RT's.
good vid. I got tboned by a car back in 2008. I've missed riding a lot, and I've been on the fence about Spyder's since they came out. Maybe this year will be the year
Really excellent review video Todd. Would love to see some on bike riding video with your impressions.
todd thank you for your tall/review.I am a 2 wheel guy for 50 years and I did 1 hr Demo on a 2016 F3 and I was really blown away..
Great video review. I've been looking at one. I'm glad I waited for the F3
Can you tow a trailer with this one?
really nice job on the review. brp should hire you.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking of buying a T-Rex, but this is way cheaper than a t-rex!!
No, not that I was aware of, thanks!
Hey Todd great review. Now I want one more than ever , thanks !
Great review, thanks for putting in the effort
I have a 2021 F-3S, got 2 years ago love it! 😉
Great review. took one for a ride today it was awesome.
Good review but it bothers me when people call Spyders "bikes" because they're not... they don't have two wheels.
+thinkpol Based on the hp to weight ratio the spyders are closer to bikes than cars. I get your point though. ON the other hand I believe a can am is closer to a bike than a scooter.
***** I mean... it's not about what you think, it's about how many wheels it has. "Bi-cycle" means "two wheels." A Can Am is technically a tricycle.
what about those stand up ecoscooters then?
If you say otherwise, I'm sorry but you're just an idiot.
wow man, I think you need to take your ritalin. Or, check to see if you have aspergers. Are you really not getting what I am saying here?
Thank you good review , I'm new to motorcycles ,just got my lic. But I know I want a CanAm as First time rider I thinking about the F3 thanks again
thx. i'm thinking of one and it's a shootout with the piaggio mp3 500. yes, cost is a great consideration. was cool to know about storage on the can am.
Did they ever improve on the leaning curve on this new model?
Best review ever.
I know this is an old video but it's a great one, thanks for the info. Love the color too.✌
nice review ,grats on that ride i think its gorgeous cant wait to get one
I'm new to riding and i was curious if an RSS or an F3 is good for a new driver. I love the look and idea of CAN-AM.
Love the video. I am getting ready to purchase an F3. Can you tell me which windshield you purchased? A route 129 or a blue ridge. Also why did you choose a manual over the semi auto.
Nice> Bought one.. LOVE IT !
Solid review and very informative. Thank you!!
Great review. The best I've seen on here. Are these things reliable? Have you had any problems with this machine or your others, please?
Nick M no problems at all...love the bike, love the pipe on it....makes the bike sound the way it looks.
