I think Tatum does have that "killer instinct" to a certain extent. Did we forget how good he has been in the fourth the previous years? His game winners? He's just having a slump right now.

JB /JT didnt show up post game because they knew Smart was specifically referring to JT who per48 mins is 3RD in the NBA at FGA and is shooting 39.5% from the field and 27% from 3 so far.
Jb in contrast, is 26TH in the NBA per48 in FGA and shooting 49.6% from the field and 37.8 from 3. Its time for the BOSTON MEDIA to stop believing in the Tatum hype until further notice. JB has been the better more consistent player since the bubble season. Also, Ime needs to treat JB as the number one option when Tatum is this bad.

I agree with Marcus. The Jays need to make plays more often for others
since the opponent's defense usually focuses primarily on them. I think
this subject has been a topic of conversations already discussed by
Udoka, Smart, and the Jays (everyone) many times after every lost game,
and before a frustrated Marcus Smart felt he needed to come out
publicly about it. The Jays can be Isolation black holes at times and
once the "hero ball" starts they totally fail to play anything like team
basketball. It's all or nothing, and lately it's mostly been nothing.

DeMar Derozen helped off Marcus Smart all night long. He refused to guard him or challenge his shots because he knows what the rest of us knows: HE CAN'T SHOOT. He also had zero assists. Schroeder doesn't go stand in the corner. He gets the ball & runs the O... He came off the bench and had 5 assists. What's your excuse again Marcus?

The Celtics needs to look at Toronto, Miami or the Knicks play defense. You don’t have to be an offense player to play defense. Making the JJ leaders would be the biggest mistake the Celtics could make. Jason Tatum doesn’t even understand what a leader is. Jalen Brown talk like he could be a leader buy, once he’s on he court he becomes a ball hog.

Marcus smart is 100% right, the egos of JB and JT clearly show on court, and off it,you can't be a unit when some think they can go it alone, some need to take responsibility for it.

Marcus Smart needs to be traded. The Boston media has enabled him to think he's the most important player on the team. As well as showing up the new coach. Starting point guard with 0 assists

Love Smart.. he's totally correct. He doesn't need to be PC about this s***. Larry Bird didn't care about not calling out his guys, why should he?
The coach and the player said it best themselves the other night, he is the heart and the backbone of that team. That makes him a leader and as a leader he should be able to say how he feels.
Just like Larry Bird used to.

They're just 7 games in, so it CAN be fixed. More than anything, they need to learn how to overcome opponent runs. They crumble whenever a game gets close. Close things out. Make the clutch plays. Play like you care when the game's winding down. It's not rocket science

  • @King_Mac80
    @King_Mac80 3 года назад +5

Tatum and Ime deserve the bulk of the blame, no reason Pritchard and Aaron Nesmith should've combined for 8min played and 1 shot attempt. Also there's no reason whatsoever Tatum should be shooting as many or more shots than Jaylen Brown at this point. Jaylen Brown fresh off covid is the far better and consistent player.

I could be wrong but doesnt every team run plays for their best offensive players? This isnt new, smart could have taken some responsibility himself being the third pillar of this team/starting pg. some of what he said is true but bad messenger.

  • @artieselman

Are problem is the foundation of the team. It wasn’t Kyrie it wasn’t Brad it’s been Tatum and Brown. Tatum received to much praise too soon and Brown is always trying to prove he’s just as good. Until they can trade individual goals for team ones they’re going to always struggle as a team , and Marcus will never fit with them. You have to move him.

i am completely satisfied with (and insist on) just home and away uniforms. otherwise, i'll down for our throwback jerseys. the tradition is important - our "entitled" stars need to know there are champions watching them make a clown show of the celtic's legacy they built.

Don't need to watch/listen to know the answer for me but the problem is Tatum and NO it can't be fixed as long as he is here in my opinion and some of you might think I'm crazy to say Tatum is the problem and my reason is he is more concerned about getting calls then about winnning all about getting his stats then about the team for me.

Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown deserves the blame. If they want to be respected then they need to earn it that respect. How do you do it. Play hard in every area of the game. Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum needs to learn how to play man on man defense within fouling. They need to learn how to make their team better. That’s what the great ones do. They are not great. Both of them work very hard to be great players.

Al Horford, Kyrie Irving, Gordan Hayward and Evan Fournier all left and all of the kids younger than Jayson and Jaylen have failed. They're not making anyone around them better and no one wants to play with them.

No not everyone today wants to dis Smart, readers in The Globe sports section were supportive. Smart is correct, the road to winning must involve the whole team. If guys who make $3mil a month can't take a little criticism, they need to see a psychologist. Tatum is not a top level ball handler, he is good slashing downhill with the ball, but does not have such a great handle he can trick people and pass off.
On the other hand, something Marcus did not say: if they had a REAL PG who was a master distributor, this stuff would not be an issue.

Why? I think as a gm Brad did a good job to improve the roster. The core is the issue. Jaylen and Jason are too similar. They create points for themselves and are dogs at doing so. Marcus Smart is not a point guard. The zero assists sit rough like a bad fast food burger. It’s a chemistry problem and this new coach may not fit these shoes well.

9:12 Forsberg gets it wrong: "It's fascinating."
No Forsberg, it's trivial, it's fascinating to YOU because YOU are consumed every day with figuring out how the hell you will have something to say, as you so often lack ideas. The bottom line here is that Marcus Smart is a jock who just lost a game, and will say stuff that should be forgotten in two hours. You have to beat it to death working your goofy cartoon hair - glasses & forceps-delivered baby distorted smile. Bob Ryan would have something wise to say about this in two sentences and packed it up.
