Very easy to follow and get the desired effect that I was looking for. I see that this is 2016, so I hope the instructor is still around for the "thumbs up".
I am 77, new to Photoshop; and, after a couple of glitches on my part, I finished the tutorial. The best thing learned from this tutorial is how to re-position the two layers to fit the height and width of the canvas. Thanks for sharing!!

4:30 pay attention to upright INTERPOLATION set to Bicubic . Otherwise you get different results

After i saved the displacement file, and as soon as i displaced it in the file i wanted ripples, it told me the displacement file should be 8bits/pixels. please guide me.

This is a long while after you posted this, but for anyone else wondering, You have to save the psd you want to use as a displacement map in 8-bit format for it to work. To do this go into Image > Mode > 8 Bits/Channel. Then save your displacement map and it should work!

I followed the instructions but my reflection layer didn't show the drop down addition of blur and smart object to the layer even though I did it. When I applied the distortion to the reflection it was only a slight warp nothing like yours or a reflection. Any ideas where I went wrong Cheers

1:50 when I do reposition of 2 pictures sometimes i get cutted picture cuz both of them cant fit on the size of the area so i miss for example part of the roof. How to extend area of the picture? I think its the canvas size i guess

When I try to use the displace filter , with the displacement map image it just won't allow me. It says "displacement map must be 8 bits/pixel" . Any idea of what I could do?
open displacement map and change it to 8bit and save it.

Yes this is a very Big Problem. use D drive to Save it. Don't save it in C drive. And after displace delete the file.

wtf when i try saving the ripples, it said ive more than 2 gigabytes and i cant save my water ripples.
It's trying to save ALL of the image data (including all the bits you stretched off the edge of the canvas. With your displaced ripple layer active simply press ctrl + A then ctrl + C, open a new document of the same size and paste in your ripples. Then save that file and, voila, the file size will be significantly smaller. Peace. Feel free to check out some of my tutorials if this was helpful. :)
