What a fantastic video! It's so helpful having you talk about the different coats/fabrics/levels of skill required. I still haven't quite made up my mind what to make but this has given me great inspiration, thanks!
I've sewn a shirt, but not a jacket, but I needed to make a jacket for a 1920's period play. I ended up sewing 2 of them, and they looked great on the stage. Fortunately the construction was fairly easy, because 2 days before the first dress rehearsal, I got a request for another 4 jackets !!!? I discovered that if you can sew a dress or shirt, you can sew a jacket. Happy sewing.
Great video Lauren, very informative on each of the patterns. Good to know there are sewalongs with some of the patterns. I love sewalongs. Can’t wait for next weeks videos thank you so much for sharing all this information. Val🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️
Hi, I found this very helpful as I’m just thinking of having a go at making myself a coat. I like the patterns you’ve shown and also noticed the framed Cornwall picture above you and as l’m Cornish born and bred just wanted to say `Hello’ from sunny Cornwall.
Just watched this video. Loved all the coats and jackets you mentioned. I'd also like to recommend Deer and Doe, Opium Coat. It's a swing coat with some unusual pocket design (welts). Thanks for showing and talking about all the various options for us to consider.
Hi, great info and suggestions, I can see we will have to move into a bigger house soon just to have the wardrobe space for everything I’m intending to make, coats alone 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Hi Lauren, this has been so helpful. I have have my eye on the Kelly anorak for a while now and adored your version. Not plucked up the courage yet but I will eventually and great that it has a sew along. Thanks for sharing your skills and looking forward to seeing how your latest one comes out 👌😁😘
Thanks so much for a great informative video. I wondered if I was adding a thinsulate lining to the Kelly anorak would you suggest going up one size. I have made it twice and love them, but, so far without a warm lining.
Hi Sharon, I didn't go up a size and I probably could have but it would maybe depend how your measurements fitted into a size and if you knew you were likely to wear thick clothing underneath. Hope that helps :)
Ok, I found several types and thicknesses of thinsulate, but I would like to know what you used. I have a wool coat, lovely to look at but not warm enough. I'm hopeful that I can unpic the lining and add thinsulate. What would you suggest I do?
Hi Lauren! I absolutely love the Clare coat! I wonder what sewing machine you've used when you sewed Clare? My experience is that my sewingmachine struggles with fabrics that is thick and dense like the heavy wool fabric you hade used. Would you recomend a specific sewing machine? /Jeanette
Thanks for your feedback Katherine. You might find my blog post linked to this video more useful as it summaries what I say with headings and sections for each pattern.
You’re such a great seamstress. You inspire me to push on and try something outside my comfort level. Thanks!

Looking forward to seeing your coat project Lauren, really loved the other coat you made
Perfect timing! It is almost coat season! Great options! Thank you!
Great coats and very informative video! Thank you so much for sharing your candid thoughts on each of the patterns!

Ah hello! :)
Thank you for this extremely useful review! Seeing your version, and hearing your comments, has helped me decide for a pattern I wasn't sure about.

Great information. I’m trying to decide between the Claire coat and the Bamboo coat by Waffle patterns. So many choices!

I'm about to start my Kelly Anorak at last I've waited such a long time to start life took over
Great video, thanks. I can't quite see where to find thinsulate? I'll Google it but would like to know where you got yours. 😉

Hi Janice, here is a link to where I got mine :) www.profabrics.co.uk/products/thinsulate-cs150-insulated-wadding
I started watching this video because I am interested in the topic. I subscribed to the channel because I just love your accent. :)
Yes, that lovely Scottish accent. My husband also loves listening to Lauren's videos because of the accent.
wonderful video! do you know any shops in the USA that stock the waxed cotton you mentioned (for raincoats)?
Thank you :) I'm afraid I don't but we do shop internationally if you aren't able to find any :)
3:08 I love this part, she is really a beautiful and lovely person

Hi Jeanette, I used my brother sewing machine and on some parts I needed a stretch needle to get through the bulk with no skipped stitches. 😀
I love the blouse you're wearing Lauren. What's the pattern please?
Thanks Celia, its the Deer and Doe Meiliot shirt pattern - I've got about 3 or 4 versions and I love it! :)
That intro is so high quality i literally thought it was an advertisement 😅😅
aw thanks, I got a professional film agency to make them :)
Just talks too much better to just get to the point please. But dome good clues
