  • The Jobava London System can be responded to in various ways, one of which is the early Bf5. Against this, white's best attempt is a mad pawn storm on black's bishop and the entire kingside, inevitably forcing weaknesses on both sides and a mad position.

The f3, g4 pawn storm white plays against Bf5 is one of the most appealing features of the Jobava London for most players. But. It's one of the trickiest variations and it's very hard to employ it successfully. I have attempted to provide you with ideas and plans for both sides.

I quote: "I am about to show you an alternative to the madness you are about to see". I think this must be one of the best chess statements I have ever heard. Brilliant. Not only is this video extremely helpful, it is also very entertaining. I write this as a player who has played this variations dozens upon dozens of times. Perhaps that is all the more reason I find this video to so full of relevant information and ideas.

Thank you very much, Stjepan! I was just reaching these positions yesterday and was trying to study on the engine what to do. But it's much more helpful to have a plan explained by you. (I am currently 1315 on Lichess and have just followed you there). Looking forward to the continuation of this series!

Will you make a series on the english opening you are the best coach on RUclips so i need English theory

There is no English theory because it would require 100 videos. If you don't realize that, then knowing theory is the least problem in your chess

He will, just a few more 1. d4 openings to cover, then the English, and finally he'll try and wrap up the rest of 1. e4 openings.

@@williamfranklin9660 with the English you can face the Dutch, the king's Indian, the queen's Indian, a reversed Sicilian, a reversed closed Sicilian, a symmetrical English, you can go for the fianchetto, for the two knights, for d3, for d4, for d3 and e4, you can put your knight on f3 or d2..etcetera..too much to be covered in a yt series

Is it possible for you to do a video on the bishop's opening and the differents reactions of blacks ?
I am very curious about the various gambits against it ( I dont want to play 2.Nf6 ..)

please explain what happen if we take with pawn instead of queen in move 10.cxd3 then put our king on f2 and our knight on e2 ..this seems better

Could you please give a recommendation in the 3...Bf5 / 6...h5 line, if Black replies with 8...Be7! or 8...Bb4 to 8.e3 ?
Stockfish thinks Be7 or Bb4 is best and gives -/+ or at least =+

I have seen Naroditsky and Williams both recommend plans involving King f2, instead of castling, after the pawn attack. Could you add an addendum about this line, or has it been completely refuted?

I have found g6 is always a must anytime you can get it in however in 95 percent of my games Black plays g6 first. I have been playing the Jobava for 2 years. I run into the problem if we both castle queenside it is difficult to attack Blacks King unless I capture black Bishop when it is exchanged on d3 with the c pawn instead of the Queen. This creates an open c file and if Black plays c5 White can take and undouble the pawns. Another option is to put your King on f2 which has led to some very sharp games. Good to know I am not the only one having issues with Queen side castling.

Slightly less carazy is Ne5 then g4 and when Black retreats his B to g6 white can take with his N xg6, fxg6 with double pawns and target for white on g6 eg Qd3 or Bd3 ?

Thank you. Perfect video. Bf5 setup is the most often setup of my opponents. Very often together with c6 (carokann setup). My level is 2000fide. I can confirm that h6 is more pleasant fir me than h5. And always play g6 asap (g5 Nh5 g6). It very unpleasant for black players. Instant elo points.

Very instructive, although I shan't play the Jobava London System myself, if I am to face it as Black, I know that if I am to play Bf5, that there will certainly be fire on the board.

At 6:39 why does the queen need to move? Can black block with pawn, bishop or knight? I'm new to chess.

Qd7 is not forced but its a useful move since black is planning to castle queenside.

Hello there, Stjepan. Im wondering if you were interested in putting a tactics series together? If so, that would benefit us all with tactics. This is only an idea, please do not see this as a forcing thing to do :)

You mentioned that white doesn't care about black's dark square bishop taking the knight on c3. But if this happens while white is storming the light square bishop, where is the best place for white to hide his king since the queenside structure is ruined?
