- This is going to be sequence of reaction videos of NCT DREAM, NCT U, NCT 127, and WaV. And pt.1 is reacting to NCT DREAM. I'm not going to lie, I didn't expect to like NCT DREAM this much! All the songs are in my current playlist and I cannot get enough of Hello Future 😭
I'm very much intrigued by their growth and what they bring to the K-POP game. All the songs I reacted here are very catchy and iconic that you kind of crave to put it on repeat....
I don't know what was stopping me from discovering them all this time haha.

Nct dream debuted at such a young age with the youngest member at 14 and the oldest 17 at that time that they followed a concept that was appropriate to their age. As they grew older their concepts grew with them. You will notice that the first few comebacks of Dream were definitely younger and boyish. To me, We Go Up is the start of their growth, where their comeback "Go" really seperated the boyish comeback to young men. After "Go" was "Boom" and after that was "Ridin." They dont follow that young concept anymore but they do stay true to their Dream concept of fresh bright colors, catchy melodies and choruses as you see in Hello Future.
I think some people, especially newer stans, forget that now at this time, they are all adults 20 or over the age of 20, so they are definitely matured and not little kids anymore. Of course they will always be our babies :).
I think its so good for newbies to watch the dreamies in order as you did to see their growth. I loved your reaction and im super excited to seeing the other units. 127 is my favorite unit personally, but I absolutely adore the other ones as well. NCT are my ults and it makes me so happy seeing people open up to them more despite the intimidation of their numbers. They are truly not that difficult to learn :)

When chewing gum came out they were between 14 and 17 years old (Mark was the oldest) so they WERE young but also sm styled them down a bit bc of their concept. Mark and Haechan were active in 127 at the same time and with a mature styling they looked their age or older. Can't say I'm not glad tho bc they were children, most hadn't even hit puberty at the time and them obviously looking like children prevents some sexualization I see other young rookies were unfortunately exposed to.
This is what i thought too! Even tho they debuted young, sm styled them young and were babied by everyone too that prevents people/fans from sexualizing them, rookies nowadays are very young too but v mature looking bec of their concepts and styles that people can't stop from sexualizing them it's so annoying >;(

I agree. I hate when idols debut as such a young age. I think sm did really well to at least give them a childish concept because jisung was so young and if they gave them a more mature concept imagine how he could have been sexualised. So I'm glad they gave them a younger image for the firts years until they were of a age more appropriate for doing something more mature.
Nowdays instead i see so many idols really young debuting with mature and sexy concepts and it really concerns me. Like that girl in ive is just 14. Or the 13 yesrs old boy psy want to debut in a group of way older people.

You're right about the mellow tone of we go up. It's in fact Mark last comeback before his graduation in 2018. The whole MV had hints of that too.

yeah NCT as a whole is really overwhelming but it’s TOTALLY worth it! they’re one of those groups that have songs for everybody’s taste, and each unit has a unique sound

regarding mark being back in NCT dream, he actually DID graduate and leave back in 2018 and wasn’t in any of their releases in 2019 - early 2020 but some time around April 2020 (I’m pretty sure) SM released an official announcement that they would be getting rid of the graduation system and mark would be put back in the unit which they would now keep as a fixed unit. I guess SM realized that the graduation system would’ve been difficult to maintain in the long run since members are supposed to graduate when they turn a certain age and eventually they’d end up with either no new trainees to debut in dream or all members of dream graduating in general. at one point, 4 out of the 6 dream members that remained after mark graduated were supposed to graduate at the same time since they’re all 2000 liners and it would have left dream as a 2 member unit with a 2001 liner and 2002 liner so the longevity of this unit was always a bust since the beginning idk what SM was thinking. Sorry for this long comment :(

and actually SM needed Dream for the Korean audience, coz both 127 and WayV aren't marketed towards the general Korean market while Dream's image can easily be marketed in South Korea.
Technically, had they done it right, Sungchang could have been a dreamie, instead of only being NCT U. I’m sure there are other people in SMs basement we done know about, too.
@@diahnab i also agree with this but in my eyes, it’s probably that SM was running out of younger idols trained well enough to debut at that age. Also, considering the growth of the current dream unit and their success (have you seen their sales? it’s crazy they’re one of the highest in SM history) I doubt SM wanted to ruin a good thing that was already working to their benefit. plus, sungchan looked too tall to be a dreamie even in his predebut pics, much like lucas’ problem lmao poor tall younglings 🤧

i think renjun's voice tends to bring a hint of melancholy, like the one in My Page, a coming-of-age song on feeling anxious and hopeful about the future, and there's this undertone melancholy throughout the song
Since you love mellow songs I truly hope that you check out their albums and b-sides because that’s where you get the vocals and soft songs.
NCT have a tendency to have very explosive title tracks but what people don’t realize is that the majority of their b-sides are mellow and chill compared to the MVs. This applies to all the units because despite each unit (other than NCT U) being like their own separate group with their own sound, you can still tell that they are NCT if that makes sense. Also NCT title tracks are very well known for having amazing bridges.

Nct dream debuted the maknae 14 years old which is JISUNG. Mark is the leader and the oldest and debuted 16 y.o. when the debuted as DREAMIES. SM artists are different from any other kpop companies. They are revolutionary and artistic in the best way.

Hello Future is literally the "Alien: I come in PEACE" meme/trope/pop culture reference. I think they're supposed to be aliens who came to Earth to stop conflict/wars and bring peace to the world. That's why they sometimes have weird hair or mismatching clothes/accessories or clothes that don't match the setting/event, because they're aliens that don't know the delicacies of human culture or can't read the mood properly. They have a lot of callbacks to peace movements but most notably of hippie youth movement in the 60s and 70s.

Sometimes I just start thinking about the fact that the Dreamies are now ages 20-23. Many idols will debut at that age. Meanwhile Dream already has almost 6 years of professional experience under their belts (not even counting all the work they did as SMRookies and before).
They are incredibly talented and experienced performers and there is truly something special when they are on stage together. It's been a pleasure to watch them grow up and I can't wait to see what they will achieve in the future. I get the feeling that we have only just begun to see what they can do :D

@@grapeintokyo Ahhh k that's it. Sorry whenever an accent & the face contradict each other it's weirdly memorizing to me. I think I'm just jealous because I never get to have one even if I tried. Whether it's Chinese, Spanish, Korean or whatever...it evidently sounds SO native that it always really throws people & I have a really hard time convincing them that I don't actually KNOW these languages lol 😌 It just SOUNDS really good. I don't really understand...maybe a side effect of years of singing with the Symphony & various pop stars (I think I counted around 12 languages). There's probably very few muscles (if any) that haven't been trained to wrap themselves around those words & intonations...strangely don't need to actually know a language to quickly pick up on. I once told one of my young Korean friends "I don't know what this translates but I just feel like the sense stress should go like this." And he said "Ya that's exactly right, otherwise you'd sound angry." But in English it's reversed so I don't really know how i know these things.
But in any case...non natives who pick up an accent while living somewhere for a short time that NEVER goes away, natives who immigrate somewhere else & very quickly lose their accent (spent about 10 minutes on phone thinking I was talking to my uncle...no wonder that conversation was so confusing lol), or those who selectively keep their accent after immigrating by practicing...what makes everyone so different and if it's possible to somehow change the way the brain learns/applies something make my curiosity go crazy (thnx for humoring me lol 😊).

When you make your other videos of the other units, just know there is also one more unit called Nct U. This isnt a fixed unit but any member of NCT can be in it depending on the comeback. It can be 2 members or 10 members. Its neat watching NCT U videos because you really see NCTs power then with other members of different units working together with their amazing chemistry and talents. Watching these mvs again makes me feel extremely nostalgic. It feels just like it's only yesterday when their maknae Jisung was still 11. Seeing their growth gives me the feeling of pride and at the same time melancholic and sad that nothing stays the same. Despite everyone claiming their NCT Dream bias as their boyfriends, I still see them as the babies who sang about chewing gum and dancing with their pajama.

The whole Hello Future album is a jewel, I might be a little biased by sayin this but I do think it's one of the best kpop albums in the laat few years. You proly already gave it a listen but if not please do so, a complete delight from start to end

I think you need to watch their first comeback song "My first and last" because it is very cheerful and cute but the choreo was considered as one of the hardest choreo in kpop. Another than that, "We young" also worth to watch!

Jeno was in a lot of advertisements as a child & maybe did a little acting too. If you google images you will see him grow up in pics. He was an extremely attractive little kid too. What's ironic, given his long career in show business that he one of the quiet introverted ones. The other child protégée in the group is Chenle. He was in all kinds of contests playing the piano and singing on Chinese TV as a young boy. My favorite is Haechan, who like Mark is in NCT127 and lots of NCT U songs. He has a very unique voice and is very smart and funny. Lots of clips of him terrorizing the group. He is the youngest in NCT 127.
I’m so happy you finally decided to check nct, it’s never to late. All the units are amazing and the songs are so different very experimental but very good, can’t wait to see your future nct reactions. 💚

for Chewing Gum I definitely prefer the hoverboard version, and I know a lot of other people do too. For one thing it's just AMAZING what they're able to do on those boards, but also it's a lot less in your face cutesy neon. I feel a lot less reactors would be put off by this song if they saw the hoverboard version instead

NCT Dream is the unit I vibe with least (well it was, now it's actually WayV) but there are songs I absolutely love. Basically from Go to Ridin' I really loved.
SM sound in general is pretty hit and miss for me, there's no SM group that doesn't have songs I absolutely love, but also a lot of misses for me.

Mark actually officially rejoined the dreamies at the end of 2020 when NCT2020 was taking place and they had their song Déjà Vu on the Resonance album for NCT2020 then May 2021 they had an official comeback and first full length album together (The Hot Sauce album. Hello Future is the repackaged to Hot Sauce)

hint from your livestream about this video, i had a feeling it was NCT but i don't know much about other kpop groups beside ASTRO, i am same as you i guess, it is very overwhelming when i see they have so many members, and i remember i watched this mv chewing gum in 2016 and being scared to kpop because they're so cheerful and young.

I feel like people initially misunderstand NCT Dream's concept, it's not 'cute', it's YOUTHFUL which could be rebellious youth or energetic youth or bright youth.. Like all the stages of growing up

I got your channel recommended to me today since my ult group is NCT. This will be the first time I start a journey with a NCT reactor which I'm excited for since you seem genuinely honest and respectful. I don't know if you read all about them or if your friends have told you about their concept but just in case I will explain as best as I can. Like you said it's always better when you start from their debut especially for NCT Dream, NCT 127, and NCT U since those are the units that have interchangeable members and for Dream you also get to see them grow up. I personally think it's better if you start from their first debut which is NCT U with 7th sense and follow the NCT system like that. However, it is up to you how you decide to get into the Ncity and I will enjoy the ride nonetheless. Since you started with Dream and most comments already explained their concept overall. I will add that they are the 3rd unit to debut and Nctzens tend to have a spot for them since we saw them grow up with each comeback. 14 members debuted in 2016 as if 2020 theirs 23 members and it will only keep growing. As if right now the two newest members still don't have a permanent unit so you will only see them in the recent U comebacks. That is what NCT U is, a rotational unit that doesn't have permanent members since they gather different members from each unit and put them in a song together if they fit that concept but they can also do a comeback with all of the members through that unit. Usually when that happens they name it NCT (year) this is also when they usually introduce new members. NCT 127 is probably the most controversial unit in terms of music. NCT in general is very experimental with their music and therefore the songs will switch up a lot though out the song but 127 is usually the most experimental.127 shares members with other units. Mark and Haechan are in Dream and Winwin is in Wavy since their debut and hasn't been active in 127 since but SM hasn't released a statement that he isn't in 127 anymore. 127 has also been a unit were members were added through the years but like Dream they are permanent unit now. Wavy is the Chinese unit which is why they don't have NCT in their name because of the political issues. Their the newest unit to debut in 2019. To enjoy NCT is best to go in with an open mindset that they will keep expanding and have different music compared to most K-pop groups.
