If you get lots of rain, it's a good idea to have drainage holes. I suggest don't put the holes at the bottom, but instead, put them on the side higher up.
Is there any risk of any weird diseases from all the various stuff I would collect in the backyard along with my scrapped plants? And is there anything I would need to avoid that I might find in my backyard from adding to the compost? Like is there any typical backyard vegetation or other stuff I should not add?

Do you need any drainage on the bottom of the garbage can?? Once you add plants, you’ll start to water.

No holes. We don't get much rain, so it's not needed. If you get alot of rain, it's a good idea to have drainage holes.
