My headcanon is that they lost customers after they upgraded the park so they eventually changed the name back to Glove World but kept all the upgrades.

The roller coaster games reminds me of the Donkey Kong Country series on Super Nintendo from the railroad cart stages. In DKC 2 one of the cart stages is in a Kremling theme park and this was before SpongeBob even existed.
