    OMG YES!!! I have been waiting for literal years for you to do this review! ❤️❤️❤️ I purchased the tenor Ocelot from them back in 2021 and have not regretted since. Without holding one in your own hands, it's REALLY hard to really give any description of it justice. I also adore its very natural "60s Surf Rock" sound. Its to die for.
    I do wish there were far more artists on RUclips showcasing this in a "rhythm" guitar kind of playing style, or even just actual tabs translated to ukulele for those of us that are keen to play punk, metal, and/or dirtier music styles.

    Hi Barry, a great review. I ordered the PeeWee bass from the guys last August to replace my trusty Kala Ubass, which is just about falling to bits after me battering it almost every day for the last ten years. I received the Fanner PeeWee just after Christmas and I absolutely love it.
    As you say, the team at Fanner could not be more helpful. At every stage they ask you about your preferences, keep you updated, and send you photos of each stage of the manufacture. For instance, I have images of the body when it was just a piece of wood. Likewise the neck. Just wonderful customer service.
    Playing-wise I love it. My biggest problem with my Ubass, on which I've been using Pyramid steel strings since they became available, was the response from the E string. No matter how I tried to set the ubass up I could never get a satisfying sound from the E string and had to compensate by really hammering it. To be fair, I got a really good sound otherwise. However, the sounds I am getting from the Fanner are on another level.
    I'm not sure if the guys at Fanner will let you have a bass to review but if they do I think you'll be just as impressed as I am. I would highly recommend Fanner and their wonderful instruments. Colin

    I have one of the other models. Three pickups and five toggle settings. I love it, it is a fantastic instrument. My only gripe is the toggle switch is rather large. When I strum, I sometimes catch it and knock it the the second setting which is so annoying. I notice on my 3/4 guitar that the switch is smaller. A couple of things to note. When he says, locale, they are actually in South Africa. If you buy one then you will be charged vat, import duty and a fee from the delivery company. I ended up paying around £750 in the end. But, if you can afford it, get one they are fantastic.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  Год назад +2

      You realise most of the recording was on a flat clean channel for a reason? Completely disagree - the Pathfinder pickups are cheap and slightly noisy and boxy - I'd rather a clean distinct sound in a clean channel before tinkering. Also think the pickup difference here is clear and as expected - with the Pathfinder one was 'ok' one was 'meh',.. The humbucker is ok (ish) but I found the coil sound to come across muted and constrained. The Fanner feels much more airy whichever is chosen. I'd rather that and then shape tone from there with amp or EQ rather than start with a compromised tone

    It’s a beautiful instrument in general but the sound quality isn’t that great as a guitar and it honestly doesn’t sound like a ukulele at all. It really doesn’t do a good job as either to my ear.
    So for about a hundred more on price you can buy a Fender player’s series Telecaster. And $150.00 less you can buy an extremely nice Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster.
