Luke being the only one with a returning theme song makes it more clear that he’s a SF6 character first. He just guest-starred in SFV. EDIT: This was outright confirmed by Nakayama recently.

y'know after absolutely hating luke when he appeared in SFV i have actually grown to enjoy what he's bringing in terms of personality and feel for the game. he's not nearly as cocky as you'd expect and from what we've seen of the World Tour demo he seems pretty chill and rather humble and alot of this is backed up by a great VA who really sells this kind of energy and excitement. even if you don't like certain things about luke there is no denying that they are nailing that kind of young on top of the world athlete with a lot of love for what they do and there are alot of stuff that makes him kinda dorky in a fun way like you can totally imagine him and Ryu practicing with each other and going "woah calm down kid" after luke wanting to go for yet another round.
I feel this so hard, luke had this aggro-cocky attitude in sfv that turned me off to him. I really like how hes chilled the hell out and just wants to scrap cuz fuck it its fun! Def one of the characters im focused on
I always looked at it as Luke still strying to improve his MMA fighting style. Near the end of the song (most likely low HP part) it's look lining up a perfect shot. Like "I've figured you out, time to Lock-On to you and blast you away!"
I love the fact that Luke's character thematic is just raw strenght Ryu was fantastical as a protagonist, he did crazy famtastical moves and even shot energy But Luke is just "I can punch really REALLY hard" it's refreshing after following a character that care so much about spiritual balance and energy
Do add to that he actually has depth in his character - Followed his late Father’s footsteps in joining the Army - Now a contractor for a PMC (Buckler Security Services) also the MMA instructor over there - He’s the protege of Guile - Likes to travel, play PC games and eat junk food during his off time
The Third Strike Vibes are so strong with this game! I really would love to see Dudley and hell even a redesigned Remy as I think he could look great in this art style.

This beat slaps, I already love his theme back in SFV but i'm more in love with this new remix version, it just sounds so sick. And to note I didn't mind Luke's design back in SFV it matches with his fighting style which is mma also the Capcom colors (minus the the tattoos and braces), but in this overall design of him in SFVI he looks so much cooler. Definitely my 3rd favorite SF character next to Juri and Sagat.
Its so cool seeing the flip flop opinion on Luke. And woth the years between sf5 and 6 it felt like real lofe character growth. Truly a next generation thing for street fighter.
It's funny because Luke's personality in SFV was created after they had mostly finished him in SF6, like if not for 6's internal delay, we would've been introduced to dudebro Luke right out the gate, so we weren't even supposed to ever even see Luke as the brash kid he was in V. But even then I think V's portrayal of Luke really did end up making him more memorable in the long run imo because he was already fresh in people's minds, except by the time people started digging deep into SF6 people really got to see Luke for the goof he was always meant to be, kinda like seeing an annoying kid from high school grow up and mature into a cool dude. (Also Aleks Le's dedication to the character and series helped A TON like geez brother was working overtime to bring the Luke vision to life)
He looks a lot lighter hearted in both theme and personality in SF6, compared to SF5 where he looked like a tryhard. As so aptly described by Sajam, Luke is "a gym goober who shows you around", but honestly? He's better this way.
The music in SFV was already great, but I see we're amping it up even further for 6. The one thing SFV definitely lacks is a coherent artistic identity, but SF6 seems to be on the right track in not only (so far) having a clear and distinct visual and design philosophy, but also a clear understanding of what it wants its sound to be. So far so good, Capcom.
