  • On this day I was fishing a small lake in Northern Kentucky because next up for me on the kayak bass fishing tournament trail is the Cincinnati Kayak Fishing Northern Kentucky Waters tournament where any public water in NKY north of Lexington is eligible (lakes and rivers). I started my research by making a list of all the lakes I could see on Google Earth in that section of KY, cross referenced that list with the tournament schedules of every bass group I could find that fished in that area, then I started googling fishing reports for each lake. After narrowing my list down to a few solid options I started actually going to the lakes scouting two this first weekend and I’ll visit another two this upcoming weekend, then hopefully will narrow it down to one really good bass lake for the tournament!
    No, I won't tell you the name of these lakes, but I did explain how to find them with your own research. These are smaller lakes that would be ruined by heavy fishing pressure, so I'm going to leave them to the people who already know and the people who are willing to put in the time and work to find these small out-of-the-way lakes to enjoy.

    I bought a Hobie Lynx from Strictly Sail & Kayak this spring and I told them it was because of you! Thanks for all your effort and excellent content.

    I have the Yak Attack "Bunkster" cart and it is a game changer for my Old Town Sportsman 106 PDL. It pops apart in seconds and stores in the hull. I bought the new sand tires for it and I'm covered for hard or soft surfaces. You need to check it out.
    This looked like a really fun lake explore! Great video. I love your nice and relaxing videos because they are very well done. It looks like you found a great Bass lake too!

      Thanks for the idea, but the Lynx doesn't have a hull to store anything in, so I would have to either strap the cart to the top of the kayak somewhere or run it back to the car before and after each use. The Lynx has some limits (like what cart to use) but they are all worth it to get a 47 pound kayak this awesome!

    Look into the Boondox Landing Gear

      Thanks! I really like the way those Boonebox wheels flip down so easily, but unfortunately that isn't an option for the Lynx since it isn't plastic so there isn't anywhere to mount the wheels to the kayak.

    Check out Greg Blanchards latest video, where he kitted out his new Native Titan X. In his description is a link for attachable trolly wheels/ arms. These should be able to bolt right on to the deck of your Lynx - hope this helps

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 месяца назад +1

      Unfortunately you can't bolt anything to the Lynx due to it's design, thanks though!

    Wonder if the guys at Strickly Sailing could figure a way to put a Boondox setup on your kayak. I would be they could figure it out and much easier to move your kayak around. If you had room a small kayak trailer or flat bed trailer would be nice to get your kayak right up to the water. You will get it figured out.

      There is no way to mount the Boonedox wheels to the Lynx because of the materials (nothing allowed to bolt anywhere that isn't factory designed to take that stress), so I can try to get it to sit on one of those flat bar carts (going to try that in a video sometime but I can't imagine I can manage it with my Lynx loaded) or stay with a scupper cart. I am jealous of those awesome flip-down Boonedox wheels, though!

    I use a wildernes systems hd cart , i highlly reccomend it , yes you will lift the kayak at the ramp by not as high as high as the scupper carts .. i would loom into it

      @GirlGoneFishing  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks, I'm going to try out all of the carts Strictly Sail & Kayak sells one day, but I think the answer isn't a new cart but rather getting the weight off the back until the cart is free then strap the Blackpack into place.

    Take the crate out when unloading and loading. Then just put back when cart is in or out.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 месяца назад

      If only it was that simple! How do I get the crate down to the ramp as it is too heavy for me carry any distance? If I try to bring it down on the Lynx, I can't get the cart out if the crate is in the back but I can't wheel the Lynx easily if the crate is towards the front. I could go back and buy a smaller battery or switch back to the smaller/lighter Hobie H-Crate or stop carrying so much tackle to make it lighter. I could make two trips each time down the ramp with a little wagon wheeling all my extra heavy stuff but then I am having to spend time assembling a kayak at the ramp while people are waiting. It is the unfortunate fact that I am not as strong as most guys so my options are a little more limited and I am constantly having to find work-arounds to things that seems so easy for most of you!

    I have a heavy Bonafide kayak and I struggled early on with those scupper hole wheels and kayak carts. What a PITA! Eventually settled on the Boonedox system and I never looked back. Easy to put the wheels on, easy off and built rock solid.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 месяца назад +1

      I wish that was an option with the Lynx! I think I'm going to go with not attaching the Blackpack until after I get the cart out...having that weight up front should make it easier to lift.

  • @whitebass16

    Might be time to look for a kayak trailer, might make it easier

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 месяца назад +2

      It would be so much easier! Except I would have to get a trailer hitch installed, buy a trailer, figure out where I can store it since it won't work in my driveway, and then learn how to maintain a trailer since I always hear stories about lug nuts and axles failing on the highway. The launching part would be great, though!

      It isn't bad if it is hot out and I can just swim the cart in and out, but that only works a small portion of the year!

  • @aa-ron.
    @aa-ron. 3 месяца назад

    Just tie a strap to the cart, send the kayak deep enough to drop the cart out then just pull the kart back in to you and put in on the yak. Works wonders.

    • @TheZX11
      @TheZX11 3 месяца назад

      That will sorta work. How would the vlogger reinstall it when back at the ramp? But yeah, I thought you were supposed to be standing in the water, tilting the kayak, and removing or installing the cart.

    • @aa-ron.
      @aa-ron. 3 месяца назад +1

      @@TheZX11 drop a thin cord down thru the scupper, clip it to the top post of each side and pull it back up thru the scuppers. You can install the screw clips from the kayak into the top posts of the cart. They will friction fit perfectly.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 месяца назад

      Interesting idea, not sure exactly how that would work... so the kayak is floating on the end of a rope, the cart is supposed to drop out when it gets deep enough, then how do you get the cart back to land? I would have to buy a new cart to make this work because the wheels float on mine so the cart would stay in the kayak in the water, but I like the idea!

    • @aa-ron.
      @aa-ron. 3 месяца назад +1

      @@GirlGoneFishing so you just back the kayak into the water as normal holding onto the front of the kayak. You tie a rope to the kayak cart before it gets into the water. Once it is deep enough just pull the cart back to you. I have the hobie heavy duty cart (black wheels) and it works great with my hobie compass.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 месяца назад

      Cool idea! I'd have to buy a different cart because my wheels float so the cart would not drop out of the kayak, but other than that it might work.
