Prelude for Flute

My first collegiate composition from last year, this is a prelude for solo flute. The assignment was to create a theme and develop just that one theme without introducing new material. This was a fun project to write, and I apologized to my flautist for giving her this difficult mess to sight-read. Though, she assured me it is indeed possible to perform properly with enough practice, I thought at first I'd written something impossible because I thought of it like a pianist. Hope you enjoy this short prelude, it remains one of my favorite recent compositions.

Overall too low in my opinion. It's okay to utilize the flute's lowest register on occasion, but the flute thrives above the staff.
Try adding more high-range material in the future. The flute can play up to a C7 if not even higher depending on the player.
