  • "Staples" wasn't a resident at the parking lot encampment, but people there helped him with a place to warm up, friendship, and socks. The encampment was a save refuge for him.
This video series was created to hear the stories of people who are experiencing homelessness. The pandemic has made the homeless situation more visible than ever. Neighbourhoods everywhere are grappling with the converging crises of housing insecurity, overdose, and COVID-19. We need to come together to solve these issues. To do so, it's crucial to include the voices of the people actually experiencing LIFE OUTSIDE.
This project was made with the participation of the Canadian Red Cross, the North Park Neighbourhood Association, the Big Wheel Community Foundation, and Discovery Coffee fuelled us with coffee and doughnuts.

Dear “staples” Wow. I hope this wasn’t an act, friend. ...Because I completely believe you, and in you. 1.5 years is nothing to sneeze at; you’ll get that back *fingers crossed*, and your goals are admirable. Good on you for avoiding injecting this far, I’ll think of you & your girls when I’m taking the ‘moment of silence for the alcoholic or addict who still suffers’. Try not to die. *hug*
Dear Krista Thank you for making this series happen. Excellent taste in interviewees (is interviewees even a word? lol).

Love and miss your kids you can't just tell them it and then act the opposite, that's even more damaging. I know how much, I am the child of drug addicts who didn't show up in my life either.

Yes stop thinking of abusing children as disciplining them that really needs to change

Kids will think you like your dope better than your kids. What kind of message is that?
